Charmouth is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, located in the heart of the Jurassic Coast - an ancient coastline famous for its dramatic cliffs. Charmouth is full of local pubs, cafes and interesting shops and is a fantastic hub to explore both West Dorset and East Devon.

Charmouth beach is a family-friendly beach and is the perfect place for some fossil hunting whilst staying in a Charmouth cottage. To check out local fossils and to find out more about the coastal and marine life, then a visit to the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre is a must. You can even join a guided fossil hunting walk.

Charmouth Holidays

The historic town of Lyme Regis is located just two miles away from Charmouth. Famous for its breathtaking scenery and historic landmarks, it’s definitely worth the visit.

Whilst staying in one of our Charmouth holiday cottages, why not explore some local attractions, including Durdle Door, a geographical wonder and one of Dorset's most iconic attractions or take a ride on the Swanage Railway, one of the best-preserved steam railways in the country.

Charmouth is also a great destination for walking; Stonebarrow is located just to the east of the village and boasts spectacular views and great picnic spots. Whilst the seaside town of West Bay can be found a little further along the coast and is perfect for a longer walk. Other local towns and villages include Chideock, Eype, Bridport and Burton Bradstock.
