Cliff Barn

This was our second visit to Cliff Barn and was exactly as we remembered it, bright, clean, cosy, well equipped and like home from home.

Lots to see and do in this area and lots of walks on your doorstep. Jill and Alan are really friendly but not obtrusive and the bottle of wine was lovely. We would love to return for a third time but the property gets booked up quickly.

Our first impression when we arrived was the wonderful view and our satisfaction continued upon entering; we found a clean, well-furnished and well equipped cottage.

There is a small garden which is lovely for relaxing with a drink (although, sadly, the weather didn't favour us this time) and a comfortable living area indoors, together with a very useful large entry porch-cum-conservatory which is great for your wet things if it does rain. The good-sized en-suite bedroom and bathroom has a very comfortable bed and ample storage space for all your belongings. Although there is no washing machine in the cottage, there is access to one, should you need it. The owners are friendly, as were the guests in the other two cottages on the site, and on hand if you have any problems. The position, too, should not be underestimated - although completely private, the cottage is just a short walk from both the beach and the village, and a 10 minute drive from Bridport, with its many amenities. In short, an ideal holiday base! We re-booked immediately when we got home and can't wait to visit again.

Cliff Barn is by far the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in, the location was perfect as were all of the amenities.

Cliff Barn was very clean and comfortable, with a small but secure garden for our cockapoo Bonnie. There was a footpath along the cliffs close by, and it was a 10 minute drive from Bridport. Alan and Jill were friendly hosts (thanks for the wine) and we would highly recommend this property, and will definitely be returning next year.

Lovely cottage - generally very clean (apart from a few cobwebs we found) and comfortable.

Chairs in lounge very comfortable. Missed out on 5 stars because of a few niggles..... the bed is in need of a new mattress and there is very limited space in the kitchen to store food. We ended up with everything on the worktops that wasn't in the fridge/freezer. There was no DVD player which was disappointing as we brought loads with us. One other niggle, which probably can't be fixed, is the vent on top of the chimney makes a noise (like a constant clicking) when it is windy (which it was most of the time we were there). This is constant and very annoying. Didn't notice is quite so much when the TV was on but we were often sitting reading or painting and it got on our nerves a bit. The garden is a lovely place to sit when the sun is out - very secure for our dog and very private. One other rental on site but the position of the two cottages meant privacy for both was good. Location is lovely but apart from walks along the cliff a car is needed to get anywhere - not a problem for us but may be for some. We walked down to Hive Beach many times and also along the cliff to Freshwater Bay. It would be nice if the cottage had a few homely touches - everything is grey and white. No pictures anywhere, or any form of decoration which would make it a bit more special. Overall we had a lovely stay of two weeks and would consider returning.

Cliff Barn, just wonderful!

A lovely place that was warm, cosy, and exceptionally clean. In a perfect location for walks and trips out. We, and our dog, had a fabulous time watching the lambs in the field opposite each day. A really comfortable bed for a good nights sleep, a powerful shower and well thought out living area. We liked it so much we booked again for next year before leaving to come home. If I was to be picky, I would suggest maybe providing a larger bath towel for the guest with a fuller figure, but that is the only thing I could say that would improve this property. Just a wonderful place to stay.

We have stayed at Cliff Barn several times over the past few years and the standard of comfort and cleanliness in consistently high, Thank you Alan and Jill for all your hard work.

We went on a week when the weather was the worst it's been years.

Travelling from the North we arrived later than we thought, but the heating was on and we soon felt very at home. Everything is very well put together, comfy bed,great shower and bathroom. Good cooking facilities and the bottle of wine was a nice thought. Can't wait to come back, hopefully with better weather. Thanks for a lovely break

Only disappointment is that they are fully booked for the year ahead!

Truly a home from home, clean and comfortable, welcoming hosts onsite, lost count of how many times we've stayed over the past fifteen years.

Very handy for some great places to visit on the Jurassic Coast, with many excellent local eateries. No hesitation in recommending.

Lovely property; warm, comfortable and ideally placed to visit various attractions.

Really enjoyed staying here for a week. Highly recommended. Hope to return one day.

Jill & Alan are great experienced hosts.

The accommodation is excellent, very comfortable and clean. If you have any query prior to booking Jill will answer any questions. I have dogs and there are great walks. The garden at Cliff Barn whilst small is the correct size for letting your dogs relieve themselves and for you to clean up afterwards. You can sit in the conservatory and watch the sheep and lambs when the weather is wet. The conservatory is heated so is nice to have breakfast in there even in the winter. I have been there over 5 years now.

There were a few things, mainly details, that would improve the overall experience.

The bottle of wine was a nice touch ,but a pint of milk and some tea bags would have made it more welcoming. The conservatory would have been a pleasant place to sit but there were no comfortable chairs. The pictures made the enclosed garden look larger than it was and our initial impression was that it was too small for our 2 dogs. Some basic cleaning materials would have been useful.

Perfect base for taking the dog on some lovely walks. We will definitely go back one day.

This was our second stay here and it is such a lovely place.

Everything is done to a high standard. The location of the property is perfect for exploring the local area. The enclosed garden was perfect for letting the dogs out and the views when we sat out were amazing. The coastal path is up the road but we didn’t do it this time. I am sure we will be booking for next year in a few weeks time . Highly recommended.

Really nice place to stay.

Just a short walk to the coastal path as well as hive beach. Have stayed here before and could not wait to get back. Very popular place so need to book early.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

The cottage was very well laid out and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the views from the cottage and the peaceful location. There were some great walks nearby to take our dogs, as well as being very close to the beach.

Beautiful cottage in the perfect location near the beach and cliff walks .

It was spotlessly clean and the friendly owners were on site although there were no problems . Good WIFI and smart TVs. We loved the decor and the little suntrap garden . We lived it so much we have booked again .

This is our third year and we've booked to come again next year 2026.

Second stay at cliff barn, overall the best accommodation for two people in burton bradstock.

Great location.

Simply lovely property, so clean and comfortable. Deserves its top rating and will definitely go back.

Very clean.

Everything you could need. Only thing was it was bland a bit of colour would have been nice. Some flower tubs outside and a few pictures on the walls. How recycling works as it is different in all areas, here we recycle most things. Was not sure if we should have introduced ourselves to owners or not although there obviously were numbers and a welcome bottle of wine which was a nice touch. This was our first holiday cottage and one the whole it was a good experience. A lovely quiet peaceful setting and lovely for dogs.

There was no cleaning materials, frying pan was very small, would have preferred the property to have had its own washing machine.

We loved the location!

The Cliff Barn met our expectations and needs- very comfortable, clean and well equipped! The owners were wonderful- very friendly and helpful and it made our stay even more enjoyable! Definitely we will be coming back and highly recommend it!

This holiday home is in a great location just a short walk from Hive beach and not far from West Bay and Bridport.

The property is comfortable, cosy, spotlessly clean and dog friendly too. We have stayed here several times and are planning to go back latter this year

Our 3rd stay.

Just as beautiful as the first time. Everything you need is provided. Great location, with the beach so close and miles of countryside to wander in. Also close to Bridport for great shopping.

Owners were welcoming and available if there were any problems.

The property was clean, comfortable and well maintained and definitely no problems. The location is brilliant with plenty of national trust land surrounding the cottage and very close to the beach. Just perfect! As it happens so was the weather for late October.

Jill and Alan are extremely helpful and welcoming. My cocker spaniel enjoys the surrounding walks, which are plentiful and the property is warm, clean and very well appointed . A perfect spot for a break!

Lovely holiday let clean cosy comfortable,everything you needed.

Lovely area for walking “when weather wasn’t too bad”,but it didn’t really bother too much. Cottage owners were were lovely people knew if we had a problem they were there.Absolutely perfect holiday place.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our holiday at short notice.

Unable to get hold of Sykes or the insurance company to put in a claim. Left messages on chat and found no number where I could actually speak to a real person. No response to my “live chat” requesting advice. My husband is having a pacemaker fitted next week. The owners were very understanding. However not only have we lost a significant amount of money we’re extremely disappointed with lack of customer services in the Sykes organisation and so called Insurance. Tel Nos non existent and non responsive. Nothing but recorded messages and options not serviced by anyone. We’ve been left high and dry. We booked our holiday last year May 23 and were looking forward to it so very much.

This property was a fantastic place for us.

Coastal walks on the doorstep, a lovely patio to sit out on with a glass of wine or beer on an evening and a comfortable bed to rest our heads. Alan and Jill were lovely and we hope to come back some day. Thank you.

Cliff Barn is a fabulous cottage, spotlessly clean, everything you needed was supplied.

Comfort second to none, the surroundings superb, Burton Bradstock is a marvellous little village, sited next to a glorious coast line and beach. We picked the most glorious week for the weather. Alan and Jill must be very proud of being the owners of such a beautiful property.

Absolutely perfect….

the property was spotless and had everything we needed. It is situated in a perfect location, minutes from the beach and the lovely village and a short drive or bus ride to explore the surrounding areas. The coastal walk starts just a minutes walk away. The owners were really friendly and very helpful but didn’t intrude (they also left us a lovely bottle of wine!). If you like going to sleep to the sound of the sea and waking up to the sheep and lambs bleating then this is the place for you. Perfect in every way and we are looking forward to staying again x

There was a lovely welcome bottle of wine so thank you to Alan and Jill. We love Dorset and Cliff Barn gave us the opportunity to visit places we have not visited before because of its brilliant location. Close enough to amenities to buy forgotten eggs but far enough away to feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere. A real treasure for an R and R break. Our Pepper really enjoyed all the local fields and beaches.

What a fantastic little find Cliff Barn was.

Hidden away in its own grounds but not too far from anywhere. Very clean and comfortable great views. The dogs loved the little garden and watching the sheep and lambs. The owners were extremely helpful and on hand if you needed anything. If we go back to Dorsetvwevwill definitely book Cliff Barn again

Super modern bungalow in a quiet area near the coast. Super helpful hosts Spotlessly clean and thoughtfully equipped We have several breaks in the year and things are top of my list to take are ,rubber anti slip shower mat, torch,and tablecloth,but they were all provided. Great dog walking area ,not that we have one.Just R&R for us.!

Cliff Barn is in a great location for coastal walks and is close to Hive beach and Burton Bradstock village and just a short drive to Bridport for the shops.

Very nice purpose built holiday cottage.

Immaculately clean, everything looked new and shiney! Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and super cosy duvet. Would have liked bigger bath towels. Great location for exploring the area on foot or by car. Very doggy friendly. Could have done with some more information about the area, leaflets on places to visit, local walks etc. Very few extras provided, no tea or milk, dog bowls etc. Most cottages I've stayed in provide this but I take my own just in case. After a 6 hour drive I needed a brew. Although there was a nice bottle of wine! The little conservatory gets really warm and is great for muddy boots and soggy coats. Personally I'd have put a little sofa in there as it was a lovely spot to sit and look out over the fields. Luckily I was blessed with sunshine all week. But it was cold so the generous supply of logs for the log burner was much appreciated. As a bonus I was allowed to let my dog have a run about in the adjacent enclosed field which he loved. It's a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Well worth a visit.

We had a great time at cliff barn Dorset.

The welcome was lovely, the cottage comfy and spotless, and the bed was very comfy, I have a bad back and slept very well, and the weather was very good .

I thought I'd already answered this survey, but worth repeating - nigh-on perfect, our thirteenth visit, Jill and Alan go out of their way to make us welcome, we've already booked our next two holidays.

Superb property which is extremely clean, comfortable, and very well equipped, in a stunning coastal location, with lovely views.

Our dog and us, enjoyed the walk across the fields opposite Cliff Barn to Burton Bradstock beach. A superb location for reaching other coastal villages and nearby towns. The owners are friendly and caring. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend booking this property.

Lovely cottage in a great position.

Nice and quiet makes for a relaxing holiday. Very well equipped. Rooms had plenty of space and sunny from sunrise to sunset. Car parking space just outside cottage so easy access down a private drive. Can highly recommend this cottage.

We spent a week at this wonderful cottage which is in a perfect position in Burton Bradstock.

5 minutes walk to Hive Beach or 3 minutes to the Three Horseshoes pub which serves great food! Everything in the cottage was perfect, clean as a whistle and with everything you could wish for. The owners Jill and Alan are very welcoming and always on hand if anything is needed. It's a perfect little place by the sea, great walks nearby including the South West Coast Path, easy access to Bridport for shopping and close to the resorts of Lyme Regis and Weymouth too. Oh and I don't think we've ever slept so well!!

The bungalow is perfect, very clean & comfortable inside and with lovely outside seating too. The owners were very welcoming. Superb location, quiet but within easy walking distance of the village pubs & shop & also a short walk across the field to Hive beach & the beach cafe. The coastal path is very close to the property so great for walkers. We ate at both the village pubs & the beach cafe & the food was superb, useful to book at the pubs as they get busy. Burton Bradstock is very handy for visiting other places & we went to Lyme Regis, Bridport & the gardens at Abbotsbury which were beautiful. The car park on Hive beach is National Trust so free to members. Thanks Alan & Jill for a lovely stay, we will be back, Sue & Mike

Cliff Barn is a super holiday cottage, perfectly situated 100 yards from the South West Coastal Path, and just a few minutes from the beach in one direction and the delightful village in the other.

It is really well kitted out for two (plus one dog!!) with everything you need for a relaxing week away from it all, and the small garden area ideal for relaxing or just letting the dog out last thing at night!! For a small property you had the choice of three tables to sit and read or eat or play games at, in the main open plan room, the porch area or outside. We loved being able to explore on foot so easily and even if you did want a change of scenery, there is so much nearby. The furthest we explored in a week was to Lyme Regis just 20 or so minutes away, and West Bay, Bridport and Abbotsbury are much nearer. We didn’t even need the Morrisons at Bridport as we had arranged a delivery for the day of arrival. The owners were very welcoming and often greeted us whilst pottering about in their garden next door, and had also kindly left a bottle of wine for us on arrival. We were perhaps fortunate that the weather was a little cooler for our week, as one very small idea would be to have an umbrella in the garden to provide a bit more shade. We have rebooked already for 2024.

Cannot recommend cliff barn highly enough.

Short walk across the field and your on the beach ( Hive beach National trust ). Lovely for the dogs. Nice watching the rabbits & the sheep in the field opposite. Everything you need for a break away. Very comfortable inside , large bed , recliner chairs , good size TV, , all you need is there. WestBay , Yarmouth Lyme Regis all a short drive away.. We liked it so much that while we was there we booked the smaller accommodation for next year. Village view.

Cliff barn is perfect in every way, we have been taking our dog(s) on holiday for 39 years and we have never stayed anywhere better.

Comfortable , clean, quiet well thought out accomodation,and beautifully maintained. Short walk to beach and Hive cafe, short walk to shop and 2 excellent pubs in the village Lovely view across the field no noise from traffic or children, perfect relaxing week. Such an enjoyable holiday we have booked the neighbouring property for next year. This was our second time staying at Cliff Barn, Burton Bradstock and it was good being back there again.

The owners are friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is modern, spotlessly clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's peaceful setting is perfect for a relaxing break. It has safe private parking alongside the property, and a small enclosed garden which is mostly paved with a raised grass area. The coastal path is just a few minutes walk from the property, and Hive beach with cafe a few minutes further on, so it's a great area for walkers. The village has 2 pubs, a well stocked shop, and post office store, all are a short downhill walk away. (The climb back up the lane could be challenging for some people) All in all we love it here and thoroughly recommend Cliff Barn to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay.

Best Sykes property we have stayed in both in terms of quality of accommodation and location.

Lovely helpful owners who were quick to respond and remedy, when we experienced a minor problem. Would definitely recommend and would like to return. A little gem located in a tranquil location.

The minimalistic design is just right for holiday accommodation.

Everything needed for a relaxing stay is provided and the standard of cleanliness is extremely high. It is much appreciated by this recent guest and I certainly hope to stay again. The area is excellent for walkers and Burton Bradstock, just a few minutes down the hill, is a quintessential Dorset village with much of architectural interest. Many walks start here and it is great fun exploring the area without the noise of traffic and lots of people. Walking the coast path is less pleasant though, due to the high number of other walkers and an ever increasing number of ugly holiday chalets and static caravans stretching out from the beach well in to the surrounding countryside, spoiling the views. Thank goodness for the protected National Trust land!

From the warm and friendly welcome through to our departure a week later we couldn't have been more thrilled with our choice of cottage.

Cliff Barn is THE best self catering accommodation we've come across during many years of self catering holidays. Perfect for a couple it is warm exceptionally comfortable and beautifully furnished - it's the only time we've left after a week feeling the seating was as comfortable as home! Many thanks for sharing your "stress free zone" with us and we will most definitely be back.

This is a fabulous property and the owners very friendly.

Everything you could ask for in a property. We would not hesitate about going back. The area is great. We enjoyed all our meals in The Three horseshoes pub. Food and staff excellent. Great place for walking.

The cottage was easy to find and spotlessly clean when we arrived. There was a bottle of wine on the table to welcome us. Alan & Jill were very friendly & helpful but unobtrusive. The location is second to none - just a few minutes walk to the SW Coastal path with fields & Hive Beach for the dogs and a short walk in to the village with 2 dog friendly pubs. It is also a great starting point to explore the lovely towns, villages and countryside of West Dorset.

Our stay at Cliff Barn was really special, the accommodation and facilities were all and more than we could have asked for.

My husband Steve, me and Billy the Sprocker had such a relaxing, warm and cosy time in the bungalow. The location could not have been better with the coastal path just up the road, the Three Horseshoes pub just down the road and lovely beaches and coves just a few minutes drive away. There were plenty of places to choose from to eat out and cafes on the beach to while away the time just taking in the stunning surroundings. Ssshhhh keep it quiet! We’ll be back! Thankyou to Alan and Jill who were the perfect hosts.

The property was spotlessly clean and comfortable one of the best we have ever booked with Sykes.The owners are nearby and very helpfully if you need advice. The location is perfect for beach and cliff top walks right on the the door step . We have already booked a return visit in October.

The holiday Bungalow was first class.

Had everything you would need, it was clean ,bright and every room was very good. ( bathroom,bedroom,lounge ). The hosts Alan and Jill on site, friendly and helpful. Outside great views over the lovely Dorset countryside. Only few hundred metres to village and 2 miles to Bridport Walk to top of lane ( three hundred metres from Bungalow gives you fantastic views of the sea and coast line. All in all the place is a GEM

Lovely brand new accommodation. Lovely area and central to many of the iconic Dorset sights. A lovely welcome by Alan and Gill. We took our 12 year old Lab Molly, lovely area for dog walking.
