The interior now combines original features such as the old courthouse balustrading, wood panelling and the original 'Dock', now converted to a 'bar'. You can sit and read the newspaper at the original 'Magistrates Bench' now cleverly located on the walkway to the upstairs lounge which overlooks Lyme Bay. There are luxurious feature such as contemporary kitchen styling with granite work surfaces, ensuite bathrooms to nearly all the bedrooms and high quality antique furnishings throughout, including a magnificent large oak four poster bed in the main bedroom that used to be the magistrates chambers! The large open plan living area is perfect for enjoying a sociable holiday; preparing food, entertaining at the antique dining table which seats twelve or relaxing in the comfortable lounge area. Outside the property, enjoy the fresh air and sunshine whilst experiencing the magnificent ocean views on a sunny day, or sundowners on a balmy summer's evening. Whilst staying at The Court House you may wish to ramble along the South West Coastal path, exploring the rugged countryside, or visit the Chesil coast, to beachcomb both activities are just a short walk away. A groceries shop, various pubs, The Blue Fish restaurant and the famous Cove House Inn located at 'Dead Man's Cove' are only a stroll away. Adjacent to the property is an open public area with a bowling green, tennis courts and attractive gardens. You may like to take a country drive along the magnificent Jurassic coastline exploring hamlets and villages as you go, possibly stopping at a choice pub for a fresh fish lunch or at a traditional cottage cafe for a Dorset cream tea. Mrs L Rowe
Lovely property, beautifully done up with good bedrooms and bathrooms and really great entertaining/social space. We would actively choose to rent this property again if we down for another week's sailing event. Stayed August 2017

Mrs K Robertson
Amazing place to stay; spotlessly clean and hassle free from the moment of booking through to the return of our damages deposit - stayed July 2017

Mr T Booker
We all had a great time staying in this "Grand Design" property, very tastefully converted courthouse with some quirky elements )walking out of the main bedroom through a kitchen cabinet door !) to the more expected, the mezzanine over looking Chesil Beach. The group included three adults and four children and all facilities were impressive from the well equipped kitchen, to the TV sound system and the intrinsic views and location that it provides. If you are thinking of staying here, l suggest don't hesitate before it is booked!!! Stayed October 2016

Mrs A Kentchington
The property was excellent. Very spacious and great for 4 couples. And what a view! Stayed October 2016

About the Location

Portland is a wonderful holiday destination. It offers arguably the best sailing and windsurfing waters in the world, an abundance of rare wildlife since Portland is a major migrating point for birds, miles of stunning coastal walks, great fishing trips straight from Portland Marina, beautiful beaches, some of which are dog friendly all year around, fantastic pubs and some of the best cream teas in Dorset.

Meander through the pretty villages filled with old stone cottages, cobbled streets, traditional shops and cafes and stop for cream tea and lashings of luscious cake. The main village of Portland is Easton, which sits on the plateau. Then there is Fortuneswell, which lies on a steep hill and was described by Thomas Hardy as being ‘houses above houses, one man’s doorstep rising behind his neighbour’s chimney’. Southwell is another charming village, filled with quaint quarrymen cottages and a village pub in the heart of the village. Park here to access the glorious cliff walks along the South West Coastal Path.
