About two weeks ago my partner’s sister and his niece came down to stay and we wanted to take them to see a different part of Dorset. I had read about Downhouse Farm and had always wanted to go so it was the perfect excuse!

Downhouse Farm is an organic working farm just outside Eype near Bridport. It has a cafe and a small shop and serves delicious lunches and suppers. You have to drive down a very narrow land (be warned if your car is low my mini took a scrapping) but it’s worth it.

From the garden you’ll witness the most stunning views across to the coast. You can easily get to the coast path and it seemed we were the only people that had driven there, most people stop there to use it as a pitt stop on their voyage of the coast path.

I had the most yummiest pea, mint and feta quiche. Chris has a super burger – two huge organic burgers in a bun served with homemade relish and potatoes.

What makes this place so special apart form the stunning views and the good food is the magical atmosphere for children (and adults!) Sheep wander through the garden and are so friendly.

We walked down to the beach after lunch and it was gorgeous! It is a pebble beach and I defiantly want to go back for a beach BBQ. I didn’t see many people swimming so I’m not sure what it’s like for a dip but I imagine similar to that of it’s neighbouring beaches at West Bay and Burton Bradstock.
