“Thimble Cottage is a wonderful little place for a getaway.”

Easy to get to and the sat nav takes you right to the door. The whole property looks bright and fresh and the lovely big garden and outside areas are 100% secure for your dogs. Even the most accomplished 4 legged escape artist would have to go some to get out. We had a Great Dane and a Chocolate Labrador and they loved the freedom to be able to wander around and bask in the sun. There a nice welcome pack for both your dogs and yourselves and this was a nice touch. The kitchen has everything ...

The kitchen has everything that you could wish for and it’s unlikely that you’ll find yourself wanting for any utensil, pan or crockery. Dishwasher and washing machine both have tablets and capsules to suit the length of the stay. It has a smart TV with more than enough channels to keep you entertained. WiFi is good and allows communication to the rest of the world. (The mobile phone signal in a great deal of the surrounding area is a bit patchy.) The property sits just off the road through the village, but you do not get disturbed by what little traffic comes through. It’s in a great location to explore the local area and 30-40 minutes gets you to an abundance of sights. Would thoroughly recommend Thimble Cottage for your next getaway. Parking for one large car and an EV charging point if required.

About the location

BLANDFORD FORUM

Thornicombe 2.7 miles; Child Okeford 6.5 miles; Moors Valley Country Park & Forest 17.9 miles.

Blandford Forum is a market town in Dorset, England, situated by the River Stour. Notable for its Georgian architecture, most of the town was rebuilt in the 18th century after it was destroyed by a fire in 1731. King George II made a donation to rebuild the town centre with designs from local architects John and William Bastard. The Blandford Georgian Fayre is an annual event held in the first week of May and celebrates its Georgian heritage, with presentations, historical re-enactments and music and dancing. One of the town’s biggest events takes place on the late Bank Holiday weekend, the Great Dorset Steam Fair. A largely colourful festival with over 2,000 exhibits and an old time steam funfair. Offering a wide selection of independent store, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, cafés and a Georgian tearoom. So much to visit within this quaint town and makes for a wonderful tourist attraction, whatever the season.
