The property

Poppy Cottage is a stone-built, mid-terrace cottage, wonderfully located at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, in the thriving seaside resort of Swanage.

Poppy Cottage is a homely setting for a family to explore the dramatic beauty of the Jurassic Coast and the surrounding scenic area.

You are welcomed into the cottage with an inviting sitting room where a warming woodburning stove is resting in the stone-built fireplace, making a lovely spot to cuddle up in front of the television.

Flowing through into the bijou kitchen, you can rustle up dinner using fresh local produce and indulge into the home-cooked meal in the dining room, whilst you toast to a wonderful holiday.

The ground-floor also boasts a shower room so guests can wash their sandy toes after a fun filled day at the beach.

Climb up the stairs to one of the bedrooms; a double and a twin, which are both light and airy spots to retire to at the end of a long day.

Outside, there is a private patio area with furniture so you can enjoy a bottle of wine as the sun goes down, whilst your furry friend rests next to you.

Swanage will impress you, with its independent butchers, bakers, fishmongers, farm shops and supermarkets, complimented by some great pubs for a few holiday drinks and lovely restaurants serving freshly caught seafood.

Nearby, you can hop on board the Swanage Railway, where you can enjoy a steam train ride through the beautiful Purbeck countryside, past Corfe Castle and back to the sandy beach in Swanage.

Once back at the beach, enjoy a relaxing sunbathe, take a stroll down the characterful pier, or discover the history of the town at the museum, learning about the dinosaurs that once walked the Jurassic Coastline.

Don't forget to explore the UNESCO Jurassic Coast to its full potential, with breathtaking cliff top walks and coastal views.

Surrounded by immaculate coast and perfect countryside, choose Poppy Cottage as your base to explore it all.

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.

Please note: The stairs leading up to the first floor are quite steep - please take care.
The kitchen at this property is compact. There is no washing machine or freezer and the fridge and microwave are located in a cupboard in the dining room.
The windows in the sitting room do not open.
