The property

The Coach House is a lovely 200yr old, reverse level accommodation in White Lackington, Dorset, close to Piddletrenthide.

This delightful Coach House surrounded by countryside and close to the Jurassic Coast, offers three guests all they need for a self-catering holiday in Dorset, including off road parking for two cars, a private courtyard, and fantastic amenities.

Two carefully designed bedrooms, a double and a small double, are located on the ground level, along with a spotless bathroom featuring Villeroy and Bosch tiling, mosaic floors, and a walk-in shower.

After your coastal expedition, freshen up and unwind before moving upstairs to the living spaces.

Locate the bright and cheerful shaker-style kitchen, where you can prepare your favourite home-cooked meals using the electric oven, induction hob and microwave.

Serve your suppers at the table for four in the living/dining area, or why not dine outside in the evening sun?

The courtyard, a beautiful, south-facing, secluded space with rattan chairs to enjoy the sun all day, is accessed via an oak stable door.

After supper, unwind in the sitting area, which features cushioned sofas and a flatscreen TV with Roku streaming media player; choose your favourite film and unwind by the soft warmth of the woodburning stove.

Start your holiday by exploring the local area, which includes the village of Piddletrenthide, which has a village shop and The Poachers Inn, as well as The Thimble Inn gastropub, which is close to The Coach House if you want to take a break from the kitchen.

The Tudor house of Athelhampton House & Gardens near Puddletown, the unusual National Trust monument of the Cerne Giant, and Badger Watch Dorset, where you may view a variety of local species, are all within a short drive.

Alternatively, spend the day in Dorchester, which has so much to offer, including Borough Gardens, the Dorset Museum, and Max Gate, the former house of author and poet Thomas Hardy.

You'll have stunning land and coast to explore in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including Chesil Beach, the lively coastal town of Weymouth, and the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast.

About the location

PIDDLETRENTHIDE

Dorchester 8 miles.

The pretty West Dorset village of Piddletrenthide can be found in the quaintly named Piddle Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, only 8 miles from Dorchester, situated off the main road on a private track. The village is surrounded by glorious countryside, with direct access to public footpaths abounding in superb walks, and a village store for picking up those essentials. Interestingly the young Thomas Hardy, as an architect's assistant, worked on the parish church. A great base for touring, there is much to see and do within a short drive of this picturesque area, including the world famous Cerne Abbas giant, only 2 miles away, whilst the bustling market town of Dorchester, with its array of interesting shops, restaurants and museums is well worth a visit. Within easy reach is the family friendly seaside resort of Weymouth and the Jurassic coast, and also dramatic Portland, venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing events. With Bournemouth and Poole only 40 minutes away, this is altogether a super holiday destination at any time of the year.

Note: The entrance to the driveway is 308cms wide on a country lane.
