“We have been coming to The Lookout for 9 years appreciating the gorgeous views and quietness of the area, unfortunately, our recent stay proved to be the last.”

The first Friday of the month always brings the annual high school prom photos in the gardens, however, this year a lot of the teenagers returned and displayed total disregard for the residents and the gardens by playing loud music, rowdiness and underage drinking until the early hours of 4am leaving the gardens strewn with rubbish, empty cans etc and this was again repeated on our last night by another set of high school prom attendees. There is also a lot more traffic in the once quiet road and to keep hearing motorbikes being used in the early hours as a racetrack proved to the the final straw in our stay. In the property itself, the front doorbell does not work, the back door lock proved temperamental in locking, the dishwasher still had two cracks on the handle and also proved temperamental with the programs. On the last few stairs heading to the first floor, the carpet was coming apart. The cutlery, cups, glasses, plates and bowls all had to go into the dishwasher as they were either dirty or grease marked which came as a shock. The quilt cover for the double bed was ripped and the blankets were stained in both rooms. This year's stay proved to be the worst ever and for the first time in 9 years, we were not sorry to return home and will not be returning to The Lookout again. Anyone attending the property next year on the first Friday of July will need to be prepared for rowdiness and a much disturbed night as the residents told us on our departure morning, the last two weeks have been the worst with teenagers and the police were nowhere to be found.

The property

Overlooking Portland Harbour, Weymouth Bay, Sandsfoot castle ruins and Green Flag awarded Sandsfoot Gardens, Lookout is ideally placed to ensure you make the most of the views on your Dorset holiday.

This modern Spanish style house has all you need to relax on holiday with friends or with a small family.

Lookout is set over a ground floor, and two upper floors.

It can accommodate up to four guests in two bedrooms, both situated on the second floor with sea views. Step out to the balcony from the sitting room and enjoy views directly to Sandsfoot castle and gardens or spend some time in the patio garden which is equipped with a wooden table and bench.. The Jurassic Coastal path is just moments from the house and gives you access to some of the most breath-taking walks.

A short drive away is the National Sailing Academy, the Isle of Portland, Weymouth town, beach and seaside attractions.

A pub and convenience store are within easy walking distance and there is a cafe at Sandsfoot Castle just across the road.

If you want to explore further afield, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Corfe Castle are a short drive to the East, with Chesil Beach, Burton Bradstock, West Bay and Bridport to the West.

All offer unique views and insights in to the gorgeous Jurassic coastline.

In summer take a ride with a double-decked Jurassic coaster bus which will take you through the most iconic places in Dorset from Poole to Axminster in Devon. One of our favourite things about a stay at Lookout is the 'almost secret' sandy beach at the end of the road.

With shallow waters and views over Portland Harbour it's the perfect place to spend the day with the children and dogs playing together.

A fine Weymouth holiday home perfect for couples or a small family.

About the location

CASTLE COVE

Weymouth 2.1 miles; Dorchester 8.8 miles; Lyme Regis 28.5 miles.

Castle Cove is a firm favourite with locals, sitting along side the Rodwell trail area, Castle Cove Beach is usually uncrowded, and offers safe bathing from it’s gently sloping shoreline. There are two main beach areas, Castle Cove, new steps to the beach opened early in 2019, and Sandsfoot beach, both with soft golden sand and the vibe of the best kept secret. Sandsfoot castle is just two minutes’ walk from the beach where you will find castle ruins, pretty award-winning gardens and a small café, offering snacks, drinks and ice-creams. Accessed off Old Castle Road in Weymouth, this area is a real treat for those who want to be away from the buzz and bright lights of the traditional Weymouth Seafront, and yet close enough to venture there when they choose. When you are on the beach you could be forgiven for thinking you are miles from town, and yet you are only a 15-20 minute walk from the old Harbour and access to Weymouth town centre. If you want to know where the locals would recommend you spend your beach days, then Castle Cove and Sandsfoot beaches are it.

Please Note: This property is only accept to accept 7 night bookings starting on a Friday. Any bookings that do not meet this may be cancelled.
