“Lovely place the stairs are very steep and being disabled this made it very difficult for me to get up the stairs.”

But the place clean and tidy. Think the kettle and washing machine need cleaning. But overall if your not got walking difficulty then go and stay here. I messaged the owners and they where so helpful and lovely

thanks for your feedback. we are glad you thought the cottage was lovely and clean and tidy. unfortunately the cottage is over 100 years old and stairs were made more steep in them days. we have stair rails on both sides to help with getting upstairs.The water in Dorset is hard and leaves a chalky residue in kettles etc but there should be a cleaner in the kettle, we will have a a word with the cleaner about this.Thanks for your compliment about us being helpful and lovely it is most appreciated we will always try our best for our guests. “Absolute gem of a place.”

So spacious and everything you need to feel like it's a home away from home. So close to the front and central Weymouth. Wonderful perk having the parking permit. Beds super comfortable and we all slept wonderfully. Fully loaded kitchen with extras like plastic picnic essentials. Tony and Rosie were very personal sending an email before arrival with information and at the end of our stay hoping all had been well. Would definitely recommend to all for a wonderful stay in Weymouth.

“A clean and tidy cottage and conveniently located about a 15 minute walk ro Weymouth town centre.”

The permit for the car park is a must as parking is all permit holders only so that is a bonus and it's only a 10 minute walk. All in all a very nice property.

“We booked this at short notice and were surprised on how nice this cottage is a lovely big kitchen a comfortable living room two bedrooms and the bathroom looked new done nice size bath.”

The cottage was it a short walk from beach which would great family with children like beach. you could easily catch train to cottage if did not drive. We had dogs so we had lovely walks along sea front and could walk in town lot lovely pubs.

“Tony and Rosie have made this a fantastic home from home.”

The property is in a lovely quiet location but only a short walk to the heart of Weymouth. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could need. It was handy having dog bowls. I had a couple of questions before we got there and the communication from Tony was great. Thank you for a great stay and if we are back in Weymouth we wouldn't hesitate to book Saddler's Cottage again.

“Was able to have a lovely week in Saddlers Cottage.”

Very clean cottage, comfortable bed with nice sized kitchen. There’s a rocking chair which is very comfortable when watching the Smart TV on not so nice days. 10 minutes walk into town and 7 minutes to the train station. Also 4 minutes walk to the beach. Steep stairs but manageable with my arthritis. Parking Permits if needed which we didn’t. Throughly enjoyed myself. A gem of a find.

“We had the most perfect stay at Saddler's Cottage and would highly recommend it to others.”

The cottage had everything we needed and the photographs don't really do the cottage enough justice... it's a delightful place to stay. It was very cold outside when we visited but the cottage was toasty warm and we felt snug and cozy when we returned from walks with our dog on the beach. “Saddlers cottage is cosy and well equipped.”

Near the beach and town centre. The owners are nice and caring. There had been some maintenance work done and was not cleaned after. Also the windows had not been cleaned. Tony and Rosie are aware of this. Overall we had a lovely stay though.

“Comfortable, cosy, and very well-equipped place to stay.”

Only about 3 min from the seafront, but slightly tucked away, making it quiet at all times. The bed and sofa were comfortable, shower was hot, and tv worked well. The kitchen had everything needed for self-catering. Although the nearest permit car park is 10 min away, we never had any problems parking close for loading/unloading.

“We enjoyed the cottage.”

It was really comfortable and an easy short walk to the promenade and harbour. The parking is a ten minute walk away but increased my daily steps! The internal stairs are steep so aren’t suitable if you are not fully able bodied but we found them fine . Beyond that it’s a good choice in a convenient location.

“Very conveniently located, stones throw from the train station, centre of town and the beach.”

Nice comfortable place. We knew about the parking and the parking permit for the local carpark the other side of the station was really handy. I'd counter the previous review from someone of a possibly... delicate disposition... yes, a couple of streets back from the main sea front, like a lot of UK seaside towns, it's perhaps not the best looking neighbourhood, but it is by no means unsafe as previously stated, it's absolutely fine. Would happily stay there again if going back to Weymouth.

“A nice holiday cottage on a quiet street, just a short walk from the beach, railway station, shops and town centre.”

We had to contact the owners due to an issue with the plumbing while we were there but it was very quickly dealt with and didn’t impact upon our stay at all. No complaints, happy to recommend!

“The cottage was comfortable and included every facility but the area it is situated in was terrible, which is why we have downgraded our response.”

The streets were covered in litter, fly-tipping and weeds growing as high as shrubs. In many respects we did not feel safe walking out especially at night as there were people hanging about the streets in the vicinity of the cottage. One you walked up the road towards the seafront things were much better. This is our second booking with Sykes and we had a problem with the first property and the outside, we also have another booking coming up in 3 weeks and when we were in Weymouth we did consider cancelling but reading the reviews on the next booking we are considering continuing with it although we shall look at the reviews again more closely. I am agreeing to publish our feedback because I think its only fair to prospect hirers.

It was comfortable with good facilities. Just as described. It was in a quiet location.,but handy for the beach and the town with a couple of pubs very close .One of which served good food ,be sure to book if you want to eat at the park Inn.Unloading our cases wasn't a problem just got the car on the footpath right outside then went and parked on swannery car park using the parking permit then and an easy 10 instead walk back .Would stay again if we go back to weymouth

“Great location and a comfortable place to stay in.”

Quiet, lovely décor, spacious and the 2 car parking permits made it very convenient as you can park for free in Waymouth's car parks including Lodmoor's Country park so saved some money. I actually parked next to the house overnight as from 6pm to 9am it is ok with the permit but can also park in any car park at any time for as long as you want but it is a 10 min walk so with two little ones on my own would have been a bit more difficult but not impossible. There are some things that I would recommend taking: there was only one tea towel (need more as there is no dishwasher), no sugar, salt or any herbs/spices if you are planning or cooking and there was no washing up liquid or pegs for drying wet clothing (but there is a washing line outside!). The outside sitting area is very tiny. Warning: it is impossible to contact Sykes Holiday Cottages and I would suggest to the owner that maybe there is an email address if someone has an enquiry as we got very frustrated trying to find out about the car permit. We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage, it is perfect for Weymouth area.

thanks for your kind feedback and constructive comments. the extra tea towel is an excellent idea and will be implemented for the next guests.we do have complimentary tea , coffee, sugar, but feel with salt etc with them being left open could get contaminated. there should be washing up liquid and pegs provided,so will have a word with cleaning team about that. the courtyard is advertised as small but can still fit a table and 4 chairs. we are sorry about you not being able to get in touch with Sykes cottages and will have a word about that. in future we will email the guests a week before their stay.with details about cottage and how to contact us. thanks again for your constructive comments and with what we are going to implement through your recommendations we hope to see you again Property Owner

“As soon as you walk in you can see the effort the owners have put into making the place homely and welcoming for their guests.”

All the appliances are new and the beds are comfortable and the bathroom warm and cosy. Although there is no parking outside, the car was safe and the cottage is central for a walk to the shops, to Bowleaze Cove where you can get a nice coffee and walk the dog or up to Nothe Fort where there is a dear little tea shack and marvellous views of the harbour. . I would definitely make a return visit to Saddlers Cottage.

It had everything we needed and was reasonably priced. The only inconvenience we had was the lack of green spaces nearby to exercise our dog, Bryn, but we would be more than happy to stay there again. We found the parking permit very useful.

“Location was good for access to beach, shops and restaurants.”

We parked at Lodmoor with the pass provided by the owners, as there is crazy golf and go karting there which is ideal for any young people in your party and provides a pleasant walk across the seafront. You can also park at the Swannery if you choose. There is one hour parking in the streets close to the property so this was sufficient to load and unload our belongings. The owners were very helpful in letting us know of a local food fair in Weymouth, which we visited during our stay. We had a great time.

“On arrival it was a nightmare to drop off our belongings as the property was tucked away in a corner on a one way system.”

We had to access another property before we could get to the rental property to be greeted by no cats or dogs sign which wasn’t particularly friendly. The courtyard/outside space was tiny and we certainly did not sit out in it as there was no space and needed weeding. We could not even lock the outside gate so had to stand and watch the dog outside so she couldn’t escape. The house seemed tired and because of no natural night apart from a sky light at the back of the house it seemed dull. I was constantly having to clean the bathroom as blue fluff was everywhere from new towels obviously not washed before. Going by all of our socks the flooring was dirty and when I spilt water on the floor in the kitchen when wiping this up it was confirmed the floor was dirty. I’ve stayed in many holiday cottages and always left good reviews and never left a poor one but we had to be truthful, we would usually have been reluctant to leave unfortunately we were all glad to be going back to our home. For what we were charged it was simply not worth it and wished we’d gone for other places that were much better equipped. The upside Dorset is a lovely place and would love to visit there again sometime.

On the listing it does say the property's access is through the adjacent property and unfortunately, we cannot tell them to remove the dog sign which is on his bench.. But we welcome dogs because we have one ourselves We know parking is not perfect which is why we have purchased a parking permit for all our guests Our outside gate will be checked as we were not aware it did not work thank you for letting us know but we do have a maintenance team whose number is in the guest book and can be contacted and could have been sorted for you.. Yes, the towels are brand new as is everything else in the property and have been washed. We will inform our cleaning team/ maintenance about your comments on the kitchen floor, and yard as cleanliness is of paramount importance to us Property Owner

“Great property and great facilities.”

Had everything we needed with good Wi-Fi for working and watching our own firestick/tv channels. Also, everything you need in kitchen (dishes and utensils etc) was brand new. The only slight downside is the lack of parking (explained in property description) for loading/unloading but that’s the flip side to being in the centre of town and being able to walk to nearby beach and amenities. The owners kindly left a parking permit for local long-stay car park so easy to get the car for trips outside the town itself. Overall, this cottage was a lovely surprise and we really enjoyed our week away. Thank you!
