“Had a lovely stay in duck cottage Very friendly little community.”

The owners never introduced themselves so had no one to ask information about the area or if had any issues.

The property

This character cottage rests in the lovely village of Sutton Poyntz, on the outskirts of Weymouth, positioned overlooking a pretty river and just a mile from the stunning Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site.

Delight in the cosy sitting room where you can put your feet up and take comfort next to the alluring log burner.

Sumptuous feasts can be prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, finished with refreshing white units and an oak worktop to provide a contemporary look.

During mealtimes, gather around the dining table and enjoy a home-cooked meal over a well-deserved glass of wine.

As the evening draws to a close, retire to the well-presented bedrooms, including a fine master bedroom with king-size double bed and lavish en-suite shower room.

The remaining bedrooms consist of a double and twin room, which is ideal for those with children, while the family bathroom features a walk-in shower and roll top bath so you can savour a relaxing soak after a day of exploring the area.

Enjoy a summer’s afternoon in the enclosed rear garden, a lawned space where the little ones can roam freely while the barbecue sizzles in the background.

To the front is a small courtyard with seating which overlooks the river, providing a tranquil spot to enjoy your morning coffee while you contemplate how to spend the day.

The location of Duck Cottage is ideal for touring the whole of Dorset, with the attractions and amenities of Weymouth just a short drive away, including its sandy beach, SEA Life Centre and a wealth of restaurants, pubs and shops worth browsing.

A superb retreat to be enjoyed, all year round.

About the location

Weymouth 3.7 miles; Dorchester 5.4 miles

Sutton Poyntz is a small village on the northern side of Preston, on the outskirts of Weymouth, and it sits beneath the George III chalk horse that is carved into the hillside. At the centre of the village sits a beautiful duck pond, and the Spring head pub, where you can enjoy a drink in the pub gardens whilst admiring the chalk horse carving. Just 3.5 miles from Weymouth and it’s golden sandy beach, lanes of boutique shops, sea life centre and historic harbour this is a perfect village base for exploring the Jurassic Coast. Just 13 miles away are the UNESCO world Heritage sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle, a short drive further on finds you at Corfe Castle, most recently known for being the inspiration behind many Enid Blyton Famous Five novels. Make sure you take a trip on the steam train on the Swanage Railway, which passes the magnificent ruins. A charming base to choose in a stunning part of Dorset.
