The kitchen is equipped with everything we needed.
Outside is an enclosed courtyard which was great for the dog.
Sutton poyntz is a very pretty village. There are plenty of country walks. The popular Springhead pub / restaurant was a 2 minute walk away and everyone we met was friendly.

The original cottage could do with modernising - Downstairs is quite dark and is the complete opposite to the modern kitchen area which is full of natural light.
Upstairs was very hot and uncomfortable to sleep in, even though the daytime temperature outside was mid 20s. We had taken sheets to sleep under as we have recently had some hot weather. Upstairs would also benefit from a fan.
The furniture (especially in the twin bedroom) has seen better days.
Towels were provided however these were small and like cardboard. If we were to return we would take our own next time.
We always managed to find a place to park the car.
The cottage looked clean however we found children’s pictures and a toy ring under the sofa.
Overall we had an enjoyable relaxing week.

You are correct in that the modern kitchen is a new modern feel extension, and that the cottage is 300 years old. The original cottage has been refurbished (new electrics, new floor, new wall plaster , new stairs and restored inglenook fireplace, new doors) and it has been sympathetically renovated as the bread oven and inglenook are original features that we felt should be kept. The newly fitted double glazed windows are the original size and cannot be 'modernised' due to strict planning laws that cover the conservation area in which the cottage sits. It is this conservation area status that preserves the pretty village feel in the area. We are sorry that you found the recent heatwave to be so uncomfortable, as did we all, but this is rare. Regarding the standard sized hand and bath towels that you felt were not soft enough, we will give this feedback to the linen company that supplies the cottage. We understand that a traditional character cottage is not to everyone liking. If you view the photographs on the web site in detail , you may find that you are able to find a more modern property in the future. We are really pleased that overall you had an enjoyable and relaxing week.
