“Beautiful location, cottage is very cute.”

Has a dolce gusto machine in the kitchen, which I wish I’d known about before arriving and our pre-ordered food shop delivery turning up - definitely include that in the amenities list! Disappointed to find a dishwasher full of pots and dirty plates put away though - feel this was likely missed on the cleaning turnaround. Surprised that there wasn’t a pizza cutter in the kitchen, but otherwise well stocked for cooking for a family of 5. Disappointed that there were no outdoor ...

Disappointed that there were no outdoor “lounger” style chairs, just hard plastic chairs or wooden bench, as meant sitting out to enjoy the views and sunshine wasn’t as pleasant and relaxing as it could be - and I didn’t get to find a perfect reading nook so my book collection was left on the shelf. Has a wood burner but no fuel provided or available to buy (every other cottage we’ve ever stayed in with a wood burner includes one burn worth of wood and the ability to purchase more or instructions on where to buy more from) and no welcome pack (we may have just been spoilt over the last 10 years but every cottage we’ve rented prior has left a small welcome pack even if just a tea bag or two). Also worth noting that the internet modem is in the master bedroom (gives off a light and a hum if you are someone who wants pitch black and silent you may need earplugs and an eye mask); towels are small: not bath towels and could barely wrap hair for drying in the smallest one - so take your own if you like to wrap a towel around you after a shower; and only 3 toilet rolls included (take an extra roll if you’re more than 4 people!). Needs clarification on the parking front too as we drove into Durdle Door on the way back one night and parking was £20 because it had recorded us as coming into the Lulworth car park (Durdle door, Lulworth castle and Lulworth cove are shared and it’s one fee for all of them, but doesn’t say anywhere if the permit you apply for covers all 3). Perfect location for coastal walking and the local area is absolutely stunning. The ice cream in the cove is delicious. We had a nice holiday (albeit pricey in activity and treats - which is nothing to do with the cottage, but worth baring in mind if budgeting for a week away, everywhere we went to seemed to class a 16 year old as an adult and the local snacks in the cove itself come in at £12 for a crab sandwich and £6.50 for a sausage roll as an example - and don’t eat it in the cove as the plentiful wasps will try and have it away from you!) Take your own paddle boards/kayak if you have them as the cove is glorious for this but the local hire fees are high. Overall a lovely cottage and nice week!

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.
