“New building finished and furnished to a high standard.”

Helpful owners who answer questions quickly. Great location a short walk from the high street and station. The house is spotless. Could park more cars out front on the drive (3 or 4). Generally well equipped though no coffee machine as it had gone wrong but not been replaced! Also no proper blind or curtain in top floor bedroom, just a piece of blackout fabric to Velcro onto the awkward shaped window (have to stand on a chair to reach). Our stay was during a week with temperatures in excess of 30C and when we arrived the house had been unoccupied for a few days. The house faces into the sun and the front is mostly glass. Opening the door was like walking in to an oven! Despite opening all the doors and windows we couldn’t get the room temperatures down to anything comfortable and the first afternoon/evening the only room we could be in was the downstairs bedroom opening on to the garden. We had a very uncomfortable and oppressive night, the top floor was like a sauna, we were all pretty miserable, Opening the windows had also filled the house with tiny flies and mosquitoes. However, once we cooled the house down over night it was bearable and through leaving doors and windows open with curtains drawn, we couldn’t manage the heat. The owners were not given planning permission to install air con and are considering buying some units, this is a must. We can’t recommend booking during the summer months in case of higher temperatures, but this would make a great place to stay off season currently.
