“Ignore the negative comments about this property.”

It is a lovely house set in a beautiful location. The house was lovely and warm, and still had the Christmas decorations up, which made it feel extra special. Really can't fault this property at all.

The property

Nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is this three bedroom, traditional chocolate box property, Thatch Cottage.

With large beautiful gardens and tucked off the road with spectacular countryside views, this real home from home is perfect for those with young children and canine companions.

The interior of the property enjoys two floors of charm, filled with original features and exposed beams, complemented by several mod cons and contemporary furnishings to create an inviting space.

While away your evenings within the inviting sitting room, where an open fireplace takes centre stage before the TV and plush sofas, which are awaiting to be sunk into after a busy day exploring Dorset.

Alternatively, get lost within a good book within the spacious conservatory with far-reaching views across the meadows, creating an ideal space for those in pursuit of an hour’s peace and quiet.

The spacious kitchen comes with all the necessities to pack up a picnic or to create your own Dorset delicacy, by making the most of the electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer.

Unwind and enjoy a delicious evening meal in the separate dining room, a great opportunity to catch up with your loved ones and plan the next day’s adventure.

Concluding the ground floor is the double bedroom, which boasts wonderful countryside views, chairs and table, perfect for additional family members wanting additional space to relax.

A further two bedrooms can be found upstairs, comprising of one twin bedroom and one double bedroom, with stunning countryside views has the benefit of an en-suite bathroom.

During the summer months, soak up the sun within the garden, where you can choose to lunch on the lawn whilst your canine companion stretches his leg.

Discover the small stream running along one side of the garden, outdoor furniture and a wooden swing for the children, this is the perfect place to sit back and relax.

Venture into the nearby village of Buckland Newton, where you will find a village shop and the Gaggle of Geese pub, where both children and dogs are very welcome.

Alternatively, drive to the ancient market town of Sherborne with its wide range of independent shops, historic buildings, cultural events and festivals, or travel south to the ancient roman town of Dorchester, the county town of Dorset.

Dorchester has some of the country’s best-preserved Roman remains, a beautiful river walk and a good selection of tearooms and coffee shops for you to watch the world go by.

The West Dorset village of Buckland Newton, and its seven surrounding hamlets including Brockhampton, is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of Blackmore Vale, and at the head of the quaintly named Piddle Valley. The village is 12 miles south of historic Sherborne and 12 miles north of Thomas Hardy's Dorchester. Locally there are lovely scenic walks to be had, while a visit to nearby ancient Cerne Abbas is not to be missed, with its instantly recognisable chalk giant and numerous tea rooms and inns serving real ales and good food. Alternatively, travel south to the memorable Dorset Jurassic Coast, now a designated World Heritage Site, where many sandy beaches await you and provide visitors with great facilities for all kinds of water sports. Weymouth offers golden sandy beaches and a bustling harbour from which you can take a day trip to the Channel Islands. A short drive from here takes you to Portland Harbour and the rugged “Isle” of Portland, which is linked to Weymouth by dramatic Chesil Beach. With fascinating Sherborne and bustling Dorchester also just a short drive away, you really are spoilt for choice in this lovely part of Dorset.
