  • “The Studio is well equipped and as shown in the images.”

Had the weather been warmer, I'm sure we would have sat outside more, the yard is a sun trap in the afternoon. The Studio is also a good location for visiting a number of historic sites and the coast. We packed a lot into our week here. ...

Had the weather been warmer, I'm sure we would have sat outside more, the yard is a sun trap in the afternoon. The Studio is also a good location for visiting a number of historic sites and the coast. We packed a lot into our week here. My only disappointment with the property was the traffic noise. I'd incorrectly assumed this would be a quiet location but the adjacent road turned out to be busy. This was my error, but I was glad that we hadn't taken our dog as I wouldn't have fancied walking along the road to get on to nearby public footpaths.

The property

Resting on the outskirts of the quaint town of Shaftesbury in Dorset, is this fabulous detached stone cottage.

The Studio boasts a wonderfully presented interior with a bright and airy feel throughout, as well as enjoying fine views of the Dorset hills right from the door.

Look forward to rustling up a delicious home-cooked meal within the country-style kitchen, with a dining space for gathering your loved ones around to plan the days ahead.

Alternatively, head outside and dine alfresco with views of the rolling hills in the distance.

Moving through the property will take you to the lovely bedroom, featuring a plush king-size double bed, accompanied with a Juliet balcony and sitting area where you can relax and unwind of an evening.

Sip on your morning coffee from the front gravelled area with seating, an idyllic spot where you capture views of the open countryside.

Walkers and cyclists will appreciate touring the Dorset countryside with plenty of footpaths and cycle trails awaiting exploration.

Wander the cobbled streets of and brush up on the local history from the Gold Hill Museum, or browse the craft and antique farms and you may come across a hidden gem!

Should you tire out of the town itself, venture the scenic Blackmore Vale, which is dotted with thatched cottage villages, or head further afield to the ancient Sherborne with its magical castle and the National Trust’s Stourhead House and beautiful gardens.

The stunning Jurassic Coast is a fantastic region to explore, filled with golden beaches, hidden coves and bustling harbours, along with plenty chocolate-box villages to delight amongst.

The Studio is an excellent base for a remote break to Dorset.

About the location

SHAFTESBURY

Salisbury 21 miles; Bath 30 miles.

One of Dorset’s prettiest and most historic towns, Shaftesbury is perched on a spur of rolling green hills, and the views in all directions are without comparison. Lush green meadows, woodland glades and outstanding architecture are all within a short walk. One of the best vantage points is from Gold Hill (Ridley Scott's famous Hovis advert was filmed here) with its quaint, cobbled and very steep street. Visit the ruins of Shaftesbury Abbey (a place of great pilgrimage from the 11th century) or navigate the intricate and ancient lanes. Bath, Salisbury and Sherborne are all under an hour away, or drive through the stunning countryside of Blackmoor Vale down to the coast at Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth. A beautiful area, that still carries the flavour of the very best of the English countryside.
