Description

Dating back to 1730 in the village of Shillingstone in north Dorset is Apple Tree Cottage, a traditional terrace property boasting character from the outside and contemporary holiday accommodation inside.

Suitable for a small family or group of friends with its two bedrooms, this property well-placed for walking and getting outdoors.

A charming sitting room has many features to endear itself to your party, set on tiled flooring an old brick fireplace with a rugged wooden mantle housing the woodburning stove sits at centre stage, in front of the classic style sofas underneath modern spotlights.

A bright and open kitchen provides a tranquil place to make use of the excellent range of appliances set within the sleek off-white units.

A dining table is there to gather around, overlooking the glass patio doors that lead to the idyllic cottage garden.

As the evening draws to a close, find your resting spot in one of the two bedrooms including a king-size and a twin, with cute cottage-style decoration set under exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, contrasting against the bright white walls.

Take advantage of your location and head out on the bikes and explore the local cycle paths and mountain biking routes, test your limits in new surroundings while taking in the gorgeous landscapes.

Not far away is the pretty town of Sturminster Newton, a favourite of Thomas Hardy's, in the Blackmore Vale with picturesque scenery and the Stour Valley Way running for 64 miles along the River Stour.

Apple Tree Cottage will make the perfect spot to enjoy the delights of Dorset.

Lovely cottage, but several concerns: - shower was v poor quality (the holder for the shower head never worked and the whole unit broke down by the end of the week - there was no fan which was very uncomfortable in the heatwave hot nights (Dorset had also sold out of fans that week) - stairs were treacherous and the handrail was not easy either making trips to the loo in the night unpleasant

We absolutely loved our visit to Apple Tree Cottage and will definitely be returning.

The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is really quaint and homely. We will be coming back soon.

Beautiful quaint cottage in a wonderful area for exploring Dorset and Wiltshire.

Couldn’t fault the cottage - everything was catered for - well stocked kitchen for utensils and crockery/cutlery, comfortable seating and so quiet. Garden lovely for relaxing in. Would highly recommend.
