“From the moment I booked it was clear my stay at Willow Brook Barn was going to be something special.”

Janine and Andrew, the owners, had emailed me very comprehensive directions and local information, so my journey to Okeford Fitzpaine was straightforward and trouble free. On entering the barn I was immediately struck by the exceptionally high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail. The welcome book placed on the hall table was full of useful and clear notes and guidance. Janine and Andrew, the owners, had emailed me very comprehensive directions and local information, so my journey to Okeford Fitzpaine was straightforward and trouble free. On entering the barn I was immediately struck by the exceptionally high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail. The welcome book placed on the hall table was full of useful and clear notes and guidance. The welcome tray left within the kitchen area contained a selection of high quality food items produced locally in Dorset, and there were similarly excellent chilled items in the fridge. This was by far the very best welcome tray I have come across after many years of holidays spent in the UK and abroad. The barn was well equipped throughout and spacious, comfortable and warm. A real haven of peace and tranquility, undisturbed by any noise or distractions from elsewhere. The external areas were simply beautiful and immaculately maintained. Attractive stone steps led to a private terrace equipped with a table and chairs. In summary, Willow Brook Barn was an exceptional and relaxing place to spend a holiday. Many thanks to my helpful and charming hosts Janine and Andrew and their two young children for a very enjoyable stay in wonderful surroundings.

All the facilities were excellent with plenty of towels, comfortable beds and bedding, a lovely outside seating area and a much appreciated welcome tray of local produce. “Willow Brook is a gorgeous property.”

Andrew, Janine and family are very welcoming and are willing to answer your questions about the area and facilities. The place was spotless, well maintained and the welcome tray was excellent. The beds were really comfy and they are suitable for taller people too, the kitchen was well equipped and had things like foil, clingfilm, kitchen roll etc. We even got to see local wildlife in the garden, there is a grey squirrel who visited a few times outside and if you get up really early you may see the circle bats flying around the garden. It was so peaceful and it was so good to hear the birds chirping. We as a family of three would definitely recommend Willow Brook and the area around. The scenery is beautiful and the local park was great for young kids, no litter etc. :)

“The perfect remedy for a relaxing Break.”

Our stay made better by Andrew & Janine welcoming local food tray most welcome after a long journey . The accommodation was excellent & was of a very high standard. The picture on your site does not show the true luxury that is offered once inside the barn. The local area has some very interesting walks & you are not too far away some of the bigger towns & the history of Dorset. We will be returning in the not too distant future.

“I wish all holiday cottages were like this, it was perfect.”

It was clean, comfortable, the bathroom was luxurious, welcome pack was the best I have ever seen in a holiday property. “Simply stunning accommodation in a beautiful location, fantastic for exploring the Jurassic coast.”

So much to do and I will definitely be back! Lovely welcome goodies on arrival too. We stay at lots of air B&b and cottages and this is number 1 on our list. The property is spacious , comfortable , clean and well maintained and having off road parking is a big plus aswell as the sun trap patio area. The barn was like home from home. Everything you would possibly need inside and of good quality. The welcome pack that was left for us was the best we have ever had , and we have stayed at many of Sykes cottages. The cleanest and comfort was second to none. The location is so quiet and peaceful. Although close to the owners house you have complete privacy and a wonderful private courtyard garden. Andrew and Janine did everything to make our stay an enjoyable one. On arrival asked Andrew asked if there was anything we required. We asked for some beer glasses, the next day they were on the doorstep! The very generous welcome pack and the beautiful flowers were a nice touch. We were so impressed with how immaculate the house was, the smell of lavender in the air as soon as we walked in made us feel at home. “Beautifully presented property in a beautiful, peaceful location.”

Spotless throughout. Very thoughtful hamper with locally sourced produce and fresh cut flowers made for a warm welcome after our journey. We were met in person by Andrew, who had kindly ensured the the lights and heating were on for our arrival. Start up provisions were available in the kitchen and bathroom. There was a bundle of freshly laundered towels for each guest in our party. The beds were very comfortable. We had access to our own beautiful planted garden to the side of the property. It was very relaxing to sit there and listed to the birds singing against the background sound of the babbling brook a few feet away. Andrew and his family were very pleasant to chat to on the few occasions we happened to meet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and feel relaxed and recharged. We would definitely like to return another time.

“This was our first visit to Dorset and Willow Brook was an excellent base for exploring the county.”

Apart from the location, the choice of Willow Brook for our accommodation was based on the previous excellent reviews and the impressive images of the property. We were not disappointed; the property was spotlessly clean, modern, fresh, well equipped and very comfortable. The welcome tray with local produce along with a bottle of wine, milk in the fridge, tea and coffee available and the fresh flowers around the barn were a lovely and welcome surprise on our arrival. Andrew and Janine were excellent hosts; friendly and welcoming though unintrusive but available in the event of any issues arising. Willow Brook felt like a home from home during our stay and we would have no hesitation returning in the future.

“Highly recommend Willow Brook Barn.”

After, reading the reviews, we decided to book this barn and we are so glad we did.We had a very relaxing stay, the barn was very clean and modern and very quiet. With everything that you would need, the attention to detail impressed us. The flowers, the welcome letter, the table already set for two, the bottle of water and glasses in the bedroom,I could go on.The information booklet that tells you about the barn was very clear and well thought out. One of the best we have seen,the booklet included clear information about recycling, that impressed us. As some properties, we have stayed at dont even recycle! We have stayed at other properties and this has to be one of the best.The welcome tray was great, the bread and cookies were delicious.We loved the private garden area and the sound of the brook.There are a couple of public footpaths just steps away from the barn.We went for a very muddy walk and came back and had a lovely bath,the barn was so nice and cosy to come back to.We met both Andrew and Janine who were on hand if we needed anything.

“A very comfortable property within easy access of this charming Dorset village with its thatched cottages, the Royal Oak pub and historic parish church.”

On a (literally) freezing cold winter's day, the warm welcome of an illuminated, dressed Christmas tree together with a most generous hospitality tray containing sundry essential artisan groceries, all combined to put us in the appropriate mood for what was to become a most memorable stay. The spacious, light and airy living room gives onto a modern, well-equipped kitchen. The bathroom, comprising both tub and drench shower etc, is similarly contemporaneous, the whole being well-appointed and tastefully decorated. Our very personable but unintrusive hosts, Andrew & Janine, who occupy the adjacent property, were on hand to answer any queries we may have. Indeed, we look forward to returning, hopefully to better appreciate the surrounding stunning countryside in more clement weather!

“We can’t say enough about our stay at Willow Brook Barn.”

Our hosts Andrew & Janine were so helpful and gave us great advice from the best places to walk to a wonderful farm shop (Udder in Gillingham). Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation can’t be faulted, it was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and what a joy to arrive to the best welcome ‘tray’ we’ve ever seen and fresh flowers in the hall and living room. We hope to go back before too long!

“We had a very enjoyable stay at Willow Brook Cottage.”

Andrew the owner gave us a warm welcome on our arrival and assured us if we needed anything, just to give a knock as he and Janine lived next door. It was a pleasant surprise to find a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, local eggs, local butter, a cookie jar of biscuits and a jar of locally made strawberry jam all laid out on a traditional wooden tray in the kitchen. A bottle of local milk was in the fridge and tea, coffees and sugar were also supplied. Unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy sitting out up on the terrace due to the bad weather at the time, but It would have been very relaxing to hear the babbling brook behind the terrace below. A little gem in the countryside!

“The barn was renovated and presented to a high standard.”

We were welcomed with essentials such as tea, coffee, local butter and eggs not to mention fresh bread. There was a nice bottle of red wine to welcome us also. The home comforts were just what was needed at the end of a busy day exploring and the bathroom has just the right amount of towels for 4 tired adults to use. A beautiful private garden area to sit out on a sunny evening.

“A beautiful cottage set in a very peaceful location on the edge of a pretty Dorset village.”

The cottage was spotlessly clean and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable . They even provided some delicious local produce to welcome us We would highly recommend Willow Brook as a base to explore Dorset and the surrounding areas We hope to return there sometime again just to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet in the lovely secluded garden surrounded by birds and squirrels.

The small market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six arch 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation for those who damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native whilst living in the town.
