“This property listing gave the impression that it was in Sandbanks, but in fact it was in the centre of Bournemouth on a steep hill.”
On first impression, the flat seemed very nice, but the mattress on the bed was very soft, I’m 73 and have a bad back, so I ended up sleeping on the sofa, my daughter found it more comfortable to sleep on the floor.

As the week went by, the flat became more and more infested with blue bottle flies, I contacted the owner and a can of fly killer was delivered promptly, but did not get rid of the problem, on one day I must have hoovered up at least 100 dead or dying flies, I continued to hoover them up daily throughout our stay, they just kept reoccurring 20-30 each time, it made me feel sick, they would be buzzing around my head as I tried to sleep on the sofa at night.
We also reported to the owner that water was accumulating on the floor in the bathroom, next to the outside wall (caused by a damp problem) but nothing was done about it.
The flat itself could probably do with a good freshen up and a deep clean, the bedding was old and could do with replacing, the walls outside of the flat as you come down the steps need painting, they are dirty with black mould on them.
In its present condition, I would not recommend staying in this flat, but once it’s had a deep clean and freshened up, it would make a good base for exploring Bournemouth.
Also, don’t advertise it as Sandbanks, this is misleading.
