“Redcliff View is a nice property in itself.”

We have stayed there a number of times and enjoyed it. However, we have found on two separate stays, the most recent, that clothes from previous occupants have been left and not found or not dealt with by the cleaners. The first time it was used discarded pyjamas left on the en-suite bathroom floor. Fairly hard to miss. The most recent time what looked like used clothes were found in a drawer. Separately to this, for years there has been a smell, possibly emanating from the soil stack or ...

We have stayed there a number of times and enjoyed it. The first time it was used discarded pyjamas left on the en-suite bathroom floor. Fairly hard to miss. The most recent time what looked like used clothes were found in a drawer. Separately to this, for years there has been a smell, possibly emanating from the soil stack or other plumbing in the en-suite bathroom. Unless the window is left open this builds up and is quite unpleasant. So overall, it’s a really nice house but the experience could be improved by sorting the plumbing and with better oversight of the cleaning.

“Location was perfect.”

Very nice house. Cobwebs everywhere though. Check in time was 16:00pm and the cleaners weren't done until 16:30pm. Some underwear was left in 2 of the bedrooms. Would stay here again and recommend this place for others

“The house is in a good location, however the cleanliness was well below standard.”

We were greeted with mud up the stairs, pubic hair around the edges of both the downstairs and ensuite bathrooms, coffee stains on the duvet which had failed to wash out and a blood stain on the pillow case which had also failed to wash out. The drains though were the worst part, every time a tap was run, a shower had or a toilet flushed the whole of the upstairs and downstairs chokingly reeked of sewage and sewer water.

Whole house could do with a thorough clean. Oven trays need binning and replacing. Sheets on double bed had been laundered but stained. Nice sized house with everything for six people. Liked the seating area outside on the balcony.

“Stayed at this property a few times now and always found it spot on, giving it 5 star rating, unfortunately, on this occasion I was disappointed.”

Spider webs and droppings have always been a minor problem previously but the accumulation of them this year was excessive. The biggest disappointment however was the cleanliness of the ensuite shower, it was black with mould as was the transparent non slip mat which was black and screwed up at side of the toilet, a definite health hazard. Didn't take much to put right, purchase an anti-mould spray and half a dozen applications over 2 days cured it but not something I should need to do while on holiday.

“Lovely property in a quiet area near Newtons Cove and the harbour with parking too.”

Walking distance to the town centre and the beach so you don't need to move the car unless you want yo venture further afield. The beds were really comfy, felt like the mattresses were new. The bedrooms were spacious and so was the dining area and there was also a table outside if you wanted to eat outside. There were a few areas which weren't as clean as they could have been, not dirty but just looked like it had been given a very rushed clean rather than a proper one. The view from the balcony on a clear day was beautiful and we also got a good view of the summer Monday night fireworks from here. We would definitely stay here again.

Good base for exploring the local area and Portland. Nice big kitchen and dining area. Comfy beds. Loved the veranda/balcony definitely made use of this once I'd got used to people walking past as they walked the coast path :) Would stay there again, plenty of room for 5 adults.

“We have visited Redcliff View Lodge on many occasions.”

It is located in a quiet residential area a few yards from a green space overlooking the sea. The roof terrace leading from the master bedroom also gives views of the sea. The property was very clean and had been painted. It is within walking distance of the harbour and of the Nothe Fort and gardens. The front lounge is quite small but we spent most of our time in the kitchen diner conservatory which has a TV and sound system. Very enjoyable week.

The cleaning of the house could have been better. Harbour only took 5-10 minutes to walk using the little lane opposite the house. Good location for easy walking. Would definitely stay at the property again.

“Overall a good base for a week and we did enjoy our stay.”

Kitchen very well equipped. Found the gas oven flame high on one side and was burning food and trays. We were a bit disappointed at some areas of cleanliness and I am no domestic goddess. Had to clean the surfaces in main bedroom as something greasy on top of chest of drawers and more dust than expected on bedhead and on the towel rail. Both showers have mould and limescale. A few minutes job to clean as I know, living in a hard water area. One concern is the fan in the upstairs shower thick with dust. I thought regular cleaning of fans is a given as a fire risk. Our friends mentioned the downstairs fan was not working. I also left a note as a kitchen chair had a lose slat that fell out the first night. It is a pity that these issues let down an otherwise nice property .

“This is a lovely property in a great location in Weymouth (and for going around Dorset).”

5 minutes from Newton’s Cove, 5-10mins to Nothe Fort, 10 minutes to Harbour, 10 mins-ish to Cove Beach/Sandsfoot Castle. It comes with one off-road parking space which is great and rare, and there are lots of parking available on the street for free. We did go in June but there’s lots of streets around with free parking on. The house itself was lovely, very homely feeling. The kitchen was really nice with a beautiful conservatory/dining area off it, this was lovely and warm on a windy week we were there, and it leads to patio / balcony outside with a sea view :) Rooms were nicely presented, and nice to have an en-suite for one of the rooms too, and another bathroom downstairs. Lovely to have coffee, tea, UHT milk and biscuits for when we arrived too!

“Ground floor bedroom top drawer of chest of drawers had stained compartments lined with old tissue paper .”

(not fit to use) Cutlery drawer required our cleaning. Some pots and cutlery were unclean so we chose the pots and cutlery we required and washed them before use. This house is lovely but tired and needs a feather duster around the place to get rid of cobwebs. Beds comfortable and spotless white linen. Thankfully though,we enjoyed our stay. “The property itself was lovely but it was let down by the cleanliness.”

Lots of dust and cobwebs everywhere so clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. Not just talking odd cobwebs, these had clearly built up over several months. Conservatory window frames were very dirty inside. The sofas in the living room need replacing as the seating dipped and just wasn't comfortable. The air vent put on living room wall had a massive hole behind it so wind blew through constantly like a gale. As someone who suffers with arthritis the cold air blowing through and the worn out sofas did not help at all. Such a let down for what could be a stunning property with more care and attention to what I would consider basic needs. You shouldn't have to go round with a long handled duster to clear overhead cobwebs when you arrive ( clearly not being used when property is cleaned!), especially with what is being charged for rental. Dining room table wobbly and the chairs have ground in grime around the wooden frame, not hygienic or acceptable, and the coasters and table mats have clearly seen better days. There was a wet patch at bottom of wall where conservatory joins kitchen, made worse when it rained, which may be a damp issue that needs addressing.Enjoyed holiday but felt let down by basic cleanliness which I would expect to find in a property charging these rates.

“Having stayed at dozens of holiday properties I can comfortably say this one is by far the best.”

A very airy and open property with its conservatory and, outside, patio and first floor decking area to relax and take in the views. The interior is also top notch catering for every requirement most of which has been covered by other reviews. The parking is a fantastic bonus having struggled to park when stopping in other properties in Weymouth (and incurring fines for not quite having my large 4x4 quite within the lines). The thing that really sells it for me is its placement, easy to drive to, friendly neighbours to talk to, opposite a type of village green where friendly dog walkers convene and converse happy to include an outside holiday maker. From there you can walk towards Nothe Fort or take a shortcut through to Brewers Quay and the harbour. Heading in the opposite direction you can take the footpath down to Sandsfoot beach, usually quiet and uncrowded, a favourite amongst the locals. A property where, unusually, you can get to know the locals and learn a little about the community and what’s happening.

“The house is quite spacious.”

Lovely view from the decking but very open to people walking past on the road outside. The beds were comfortable. However, a 13.5 tog quilt in summer was too hot. The downstairs bedroom is a garage conversion. Lovely views of the flowers in the garden but Wi-Fi didn't work in there. The kitchen is equipped with all you need. Drains in the main bedroom were quite smelly at times. Would be nice to have something in there to put down them to freshen them up. Great that there's parking at the house. A short walk downhill to Brewers Quay. And Newton's cove close by. Had a lovely stay. Would love to return in the future.

“In general we really enjoyed the stay.”

We had a few issues : The cot was very stained and soiled on the sides, we had to cover the stains with sheets before using it. There is an issue with the drainage from the upstairs shower, sometime the tray fills up and you have to pump the drain with your foot to release the water. There is also a smell from time to time. The cooker and utensils were not very clean and had to be cleaned before use. As I say we still enjoyed our stay, the location is great and I would stay there again. The issues above can be put right, you may not have been aware of them before.

Don’t think cleaners have a lot of time to do a thorough job, but not too much of a problem. Read a few negative reviews about the cottage before we arrived, but think they were groundless! We would certainly book this cottage again. It offered us everything we needed in a great location. If I had anything to complain about it would have to be the lack of a soap dish in the downstairs shower.

“Arrived to find keypad very hard to read to obtain door key.”

On entering finding the property dirty and not very cleaned at all. Went to Dream Cottages Shop to complain and was told we had to buy the cleaning products and that it was our job to make sure it was clean. We requested in advance to have the twin beds downstairs turned into a double, which didn’t happen. We had to do this ourselves. The wardrobe was unusable in the same bedroom, as it was full of laundry bags. The twin bedroom upstairs had rubbish left under it. After using the shower once we found the bath mat/towel was dirty due to the floor not being cleaned. The dishwasher and cooker were both filthy, so the cooker become unusable, and when we did try to use the hoover the bag inside was full and smelt awful, so didn’t really help much either. All the surfaces were left feeling sticky and some places you could write your name in the dust. The bin for the waste outside had someone else’s waste put in it during the week. So as far as the property is concerned it did not make our stay a very good one. Not to sure we will be using this company ever again.

The main bedroom was lovely - sea view and the large balcony, accessed from the garden or the bedroom, was a bonus! I would, however, recommend a new cooker. On arrival, I placed frozen pizzas in the gas oven, which I managed to ignite, but when I tried to move the food the shelving and pizzas fell to the oven floor! Four rings worked well on the hob, but the large ring and the grill would not ignite - several attempts and I am used to a gas cooker! Had lots of takeaways - all very nice and not far to go!

“Our third visit to the Redcliff View Lodge.”

It is in a lovely residential location with views of the sea from the roof terrace. The main bedroom is spacious and bed comfortable. Lovely big shower in the en suite. A pleasant walk into Weymouth along the coast. There is an under counter fridge and then another large fridge freezer which is really helpful. WiFi worked well. The kitchen diner is large, light and airy with a TV and sound system with radio / CD. Only drawbacks are steep steps going up from dining area into garden could be a big problem for people with limited mobility, lounge is a bit snug and downstairs bedroom a bit dark because small windows. We really enjoyed our stay.

“The house is really nice and well designed for a relatively small one.”

However the cleanliness should be improved. On appearance evrything seems fine but look closer and everything is super dusty or some of the corners have not been touched for way too long. The vent in upstairs bathroom is covered in thick dust; the roll up privacy blinds in the upstairs bathroom is covered in mold specks, the shower head in upstairs bathroom has mold around the dispensing holes... Doesnt feel hygienically clean. Downstairs, the drawers contents could do with deep clean. So could the kettle and some of the ustensils. We had issues with the heating with temperature gradually dropping to 15 degrees inside, despite following the instructions for the heating provided in the welcome pack. Eventually we worked out that the water temperature on the boiler was set far too low (30 degrees) and therefore no matter how long the heating would be on, it didnt really raise the temperature. After we changed that setting, the temperature gradually increased but the first two nights got really chilly. It felt as if someone had purposefully set the water temperature low on the boiler in order to ensure a low bill for heating... But we had a nice stay and enjoyed the location in particular very much. We didnt get to use teh outdoors bits of the house but I think they would be lovely in the summer.

“Outside and inside Louvre wardrobe cupboard doors in both upstairs bedrooms were very dirty.”

The upstairs bathroom toilet seat was badly chipped and the bathroom blind mouldy. Rug in lounge coming to pieces and light bulbs and shades need cleaning. However generally the house was very clean but showing signs of wear. It was very well equipped and in an excellent location.

We had a very enjoyable stay. While the cottage was clean, we agreed with others that it could do with a 'deep' clean now and then - e.g. dirty shower screen at bottom and lots of dust on the pipes (in clear view) in the bathroom. A real negative for us was the lack of recycling facilities - this is completely unacceptable in this day and age. There was no information provided about this and nowhere to leave anything. We saved up our recycling and were told by the staff at the nearby ASDA(!) that recycling was collected from households in the area, but that the nearest place to take recycling was the Sainsburys near Upwey!!

It's just a pity it was raining as we would have loved to use the outside space too. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had a problem with the downstairs toilet door not opening properly but literally within 10 minutes of calling to report this someone was with us to fix it! Incredible service. The property

This detached character property is subtly hidden away close to the locally well know beauty spot in Weymouth called Bincleaves.

A sociable kitchen opens up onto a bright dining area / conservatory with an attractive roof terrace beyond.

The property benefits from a shower room and bedroom downstairs and so may be ideal for guests who are less able.

A walk across Bincleaves Green along the cliff tops to the Nothe Gardens and round to the harbour makes for a memorable experience.

The views from the first floor balcony of the lodge span across from Weymouth Bay and over Weymouth itself where you can see the 'White Horse' and 'Hardy's Monument' in the far distance. Although the main sandy beach in Weymouth town centre is within walking distance, the less well known but in some ways more attractive beach at Sandsfoot, with its Robinson Crusoe appeal is perhaps the nearest one being roughly eight minutes' walk away.

The glorious golden sandy beaches have excellent facilities for all kinds of watersports, whilst from the picturesque, bustling harbour you can take regular fishing trips. A short drive takes you to Portland Harbour, and the rugged “Isle” of Portland, linked to Weymouth by the dramatic Chesil Beach. Visit Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s “Casterbridge”, only 7 miles away, or take a journey along the scenic coastal road and call in at Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens. Alternatively, just head down to West Bay - the views of the stunning Dorset Heritage Coastline are not to be missed!
