“The property was in good order, nice and clean came up-to expectations.”

Handy for Weymouth and Portland Bill close to shops and take aways. It was everything we needed for a pleasant holiday.

The property

Resting in a truly unique position on the edge of Portland Harbour, is Tidal Drift, a well-presented mid-terrace holiday home just a stone’s throw from Smallmouth Bay, a small yet beautiful stretch of sandy beach.

This inviting retreat welcomes up to five guests and makes a wonderful base for a family or group of friends looking for a staycation in which to explore the wonders of the spectacular Jurassic Coast.

After a day at the beach, rinse off the sand in the shower before lounging on the sofa, reminiscing on the days events and considering where to visit next.

Move through into the kitchen/diner, where you can prepare a tasty afternoon snack with assistance from the electric oven and gas hob, while there is also a handy washing machine so you won’t have to pack your whole wardrobe!

On a warm day, throw open the patio doors and step out into the garden, relaxing at the table and chairs whilst your canine companion stretches their legs.

As the evening comes a close, retire to either of the well-presented bedrooms, the master offering a king size bed with captivating sea views, a twin and a single to choose from.

Each bedroom has been neutrally presented with crisp white bed linen and fitted storage for your personal belongings.

The famous red and white striped lighthouse which stands majestically at the top of the island at Portland Bill is just a short drive away where you can revel in impressive views of the coastline and out across the English Channel, stopping off for a bite to eat at the popular Lobster Pot Café.

A short coastal stroll will take you to hidden away Sandsfoot beach and the iconic ruins of the castle built by Henry VIII in 1539 to protect against invasion, is now surrounded by glorious gardens where you sit with refreshments and enjoy views over the harbour.

A leisurely 30 minutes' walk away along the 'Rodwell Trail', an old converted railway line will lead you to Weymouth town centre where you will find many shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the award winning golden sandy beach which is backed by the attractive Georgian esplanade, full to the brim with things to do to keep the while family entertained such as the historic Nothe Fort, fascinating SEA LIFE, and Sandworld.

Tidal Drift is an ideal tranquil and coastal location from which to discover all the delights that the charming County of Dorset has to offer, at any time of year.

About the location

WYKE REGIS

Weymouth 2 miles; Dorchester 9 miles.

Wyke Regis is a village on the south western side of Weymouth that sits on the northern edges of Portland Harbour and reaches as far as the back of Chesil beach and The Fleet, just two miles from the centre of Weymouth. There are local shops, cafés and restaurants including the famous Crab House café, with it’s own oyster beds on the doorstep. The National Sailing School, an Olympic legacy, offers a wide variety of water sports and is just two miles away on the edge of Portland Harbour. The Fleet Lagoon that runs between Wyke Regis and Chesil beach is an important area for wildlife and there are many species of birds to be seen in the area, whilst Chesil beach is also a renowned spot for fishing. The Fleet is probably most famous for being the testing ground for Barnes Wallis’s bouncing bomb, immortalised in the film the Dam Busters. Wyke Regis is the perfect location from which to explore many of Dorset’s most iconic locations on the Jurassic Coast.
