A characterful Shepherd's hut holiday retreat situated in Ringstead Bay, Dorset.
It offers a rural base next to the beach for couples or families looking to enjoy time outdoors with simple, well‑arranged accommodation.
The main living accommodation is arranged in an open-plan living space, bringing together the kitchen, dining and sitting areas into a central hub for the stay.
The kitchen is equipped for everyday self-catering, while the dining area provides space to enjoy meals together before settling into the sitting area after days spent exploring the Dorset countryside and coastline.
Within the living hut there is a bathroom fitted with a bath and walk‑in shower, completing the available facilities.
The sleeping accommodation is set within two separate external huts, comprising one hut with a double bedroom and a second hut with a twin bedroom.
This distinctive layout offers a degree of independence for guests and adds to the character of the stay.
Outside, guests can enjoy the Shepherd Hut's private garden, equipped with wooden furniture, which provides space to sit outside and make the most of warmer days.
The surrounding area offers immediate access to the beach, coastal scenery and countryside walks, with nearby highlights including Ringstead Bay, the seaside town of Weymouth, and the Jurassic Coastline, alongside inland walking routes and viewpoints across Dorset.
The Reef café situated near to The Orchard is a newly renovated café, serving delicious homemade cakes, coffees, teas, bacon rolls, burgers, soups in the winter, and wood fired pizzas in the summer.
With its individual layout and outdoor setting, The Orchard provides a memorable base for a rural Dorset break.

I can’t recommend ‘The Orchard’ highly enough, our stay there was utterly amazing.
The shepherds huts were fantastic and our two boys thought it was a great adventure to have one of them all to themselves! The accommodation was beautifully presented and had everything we needed for a family of four, the welcome/information pack on arrival was also especially helpful and allowed us to get settled in quickly. Ringstead is a very beautiful part of the world and the sunrise and sunsets over Ringstead bay and the surrounding cliffs were absolutely breathtaking. The beach was a two-minute stroll from the front door, and ‘The Reef Café’ was conveniently located next door (‘The Orchard is in a self-contained setting and is not ‘overlooked’ at all). The café has a broad menu, and we used it for breakfast, lunch or dinner a few times (Their wood fired pizzas are a must try). As a location ‘The Orchard’ is a great hub to go out and explore Dorset from, but also equally as wonderful if you just want to relax and enjoy the beach and surrounding area. We really loved our stay at ‘The Orchard’ and will definitely be returning again one day soon
The Orchard was exactly as described and fully equipped for a perfect get away.
It was secure, tranquil and comfy. The Reef cafe was just around the corner and the food was freshly cooked and delicious. Watching the sun setting at Ringstead Bay is very special as are the stars at night. Hope to return in the future.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Orchard.
It was perfect for our family and we really liked how secluded it felt. The property was spotless on arrival and we appreciated the welcome pack allowing us to make a cuppa on arrival before we even unloaded the car after a long drive. Opening the bedroom doors to the beautiful countryside as far as the eye could see with the sound of the sea made for a perfect start to each day. I really liked how well equipped the accommodation was, everything we needed for our week. The bathroom was great; a big deep bath that filled quickly which was well appreciated after some downpours! And the shower was a good size and really powerful. We loved being able to get wood fired pizza from the Reef Cafe on the first evening, I definitely recommend this. The property is so well equipped, having the dishwasher and washer/dryer made a week with young children and mixed weather much more manageable. This property is perfect for couples and families alike, secluded and relaxing and only a stone’s throw to the beach. We loved it and have already recommended it to friends.

Please Note: This property can only accept a Friday changeover. In some circumstances it may be possible to arrange another day but only by prior agreement with Dream Cottages. If booking is a non standard changeover the check in time will be 6pm.
Please note re dogs: Up to 2 dogs welcome but please remember that these are relatively small
spaces therefore no dogs are allowed in the sleeping huts and if your dog gets wet or muddy, we ask please that you to wash them and then allow them to dry in the outside kennel provided before they come into the main hut. Please do not allow them on the furniture. If you are unhappy with these house rules then the Orchard may not be suitable for you.
Please note: The entrance from the parking area is on a bridge over a small stream.
Please note: The property is handily situated near to the popular Reef Cafe.
