Holiday in Dorset - Public Transport travel information

Whenever possible, we encourage visitors to use public transport to travel around the local area during their stay at one of our cottages - especially during the summer months when Dorset's roads can get extremely crowded. With that in mind please use the following public transport guide to help you find your way around the area:

To Swanage

FROM THE WEST: the nearest mainline train station is Wareham (on the London Waterloo to Weymouth line). Catch the number 40 or X43 Wilts and Dorset bus from Wareham Station to Swanage Bus/Train Station. Please note: The X43 bus runs from 24 July to 3 September 2011.

At times when the Swanage Railway is running: Travel on Wilts and Dorset bus number 40 or X43 to Corfe Castle (East Street bus stop – follow signs to Village Centre and Station Road) then catch the steam train from Corfe Castle Station to Swanage. Tel: 01929 425800 or visit their website: www.swanagerailway.co.uk. Please note: The X43 bus runs from 24 July to 3 September 2011.

FROM THE EAST: Catch the train to Bournemouth then switch to the Wilts and Dorset bus number 50 to Swanage Bus/Train Station. You can buy a combined train and bus ticket for this journey from any staffed South West Train station.

To Corfe Castle

FROM THE WEST: the nearest mainline train station is Wareham (on the London Waterloo to Weymouth line). From here switch onto the Wilts and Dorset number 40 or X43 bus to East Street bus stop. Please note: The X43 bus runs from 24 July to 3 September 2011.

FROM THE EAST: get the train to Bournemouth Station, switch onto the Wilts and Dorset number 50 bus to Swanage, then switch to the number 40 or X43 to East Street bus stop. Please note: The X43 bus runs from 24 July to 3 September 2011.

To Studland

To Lulworth Cove

ARRIVING BY TRAIN: catch the train to Wool Station (on the London Waterloo to Weymouth line) then switch onto bus numbers X43, 103, or 104 from Wool Station to Lulworth Cove. Please note: X43 Wilts and Dorset bus service runs from 24 July to 3 September 2011 only.

To Wareham

BY BUS: From Bournemouth take the M1 or M2 to Poole. Change to number 40 or X53. From Poole take the 40 or X53. From Swanage take the 40 via Langton Matravers or X43 via Harman's Cross. From West Lulworth take the X43. From Weymouth take the Jurassic Coast bus number X53 or X43 via Wool. NB: The X43 runs from 24 July to 3 September 2011.

BY TRAIN: Wareham Train Station (on the London Waterloo to Weymouth line) is found 0.75 miles from the Town Centre.
