Sideways hair at the top of Golden Cap

Last week, I had a few days off and decided to be a bit of a tourist in my own county. We headed off to Golden Cap near Bridport after months of driving past and saying We must go for a walk there now was the perfect time to do it. We couldn't have timed it better the sun shone as we drove through Bridport, Chideock and finally arriving at Lamberts Castle car park.     My grandparents used to live in Lyme Regis and when I was little walking up Golden Cap was something I took for granted. Although running down the hill was great fun.   As I took a trip down nostalgia lane along the path from the car park, I had forgotten how amazing the views are across the Jurassic Coast. I gave myself plenty of opportunities to admire the view (obviously not to have a rest climbing to the top!)   When we reached the summit, it was very windy but it added to the rustic backdrop of the coastline. With the wind in my face and sideways hair I took loads of pictures. After being tourists we had a quick sit down to take in the view and it dawned on us how lucky we are to live in such a wonderful place.       After the hike up the hill lunch time called! We headed off down the coast path to The Anchor at Seatown. This is the pub where we went for our first date so it is very special to us..... ahhhhhhhhh!!!   We hadn't been there since its recent refurbishment and what a fantastic job they have done. The moment you walk in there is a big friendly welcome. I decided to have a ploughmans and it was delicious! They try and source as much produce locally which I love. The bread came from Leakers just down the road in Bridport and it was delicious! After lunch before the sleepiness kicked in (and the rain!) we went back up the path back to the car. We had a great walk and it left us completely refreshed. It reminded me of how amazing it is to live in Dorset with the Jurassic Coast right on my doorstep and how I should never take this special place for granted. If I have tempted you down Dream Cottages has a variety of holiday cottages which are right on the coastline!
