“We had such a wonderful time during our stay.”

The cottage is beautifully presented, with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing break. The beds are huge and incredibly comfortable, adding a real touch of luxury, and the gorgeous roll-top bath was a treat. The garden is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peace and nature all around. Although the cottage is in a quiet and tranquil spot, it’s very convenient too — just a 5-minute drive to the village and around 20 minutes to a larger supermarket, which made stocking ...

The cottage is beautifully presented, with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing break. The beds are huge and incredibly comfortable, adding a real touch of luxury, and the gorgeous roll-top bath was a treat. The garden is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peace and nature all around. Although the cottage is in a quiet and tranquil spot, it’s very convenient too — just a 5-minute drive to the village and around 20 minutes to a larger supermarket, which made stocking up on essentials very easy. The local community pool was a big hit with the children, and we were made to feel so welcome everywhere we went. The owners were absolutely lovely, even bringing us fresh eggs from their chickens on our first day. After a long drive in the heat, we were delighted to find ice creams waiting in the freezer — such a thoughtful touch that instantly made us feel at home. We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday and would love to return!

Footpaths straight from the property itself or along very quiet roads - ideal for dog walking. It’s quiet, peaceful and provides a moment away from the stresses of day to day life. The barn conversion provides everything you need for a pleasant break and is very warm inside (even needed to turn radiators down notwithstanding it was freezing outside at points during the week). “Beautiful property and although part of the farm buildings, is very private with separate parking and garden.”

The host is very welcoming and friendly. The quality of decoration, furniture, bed linen at the property was exceptional. We loved watching the frequent visits of birds and other wildlife in the garden. Would highly recommend to anyone who wanted a peaceful, rural retreat.

“A beautifully curated cottage put together by someone with a real eye for design.”

Fresh flowers were provided throughout the house together with a welcome cake and some milk and eggs. The location was great allowing us to explore not only Wiltshire but the surrounding counties of Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset. What really lets the cottage down are the deeply uncomfortable sofas.

“The Cart Barn is a wonderful conversion providing spacious and comfortable accommodation.”

The whole building is airy comfortable and very well equipped. Luckily the weather was kind to us and we could spend time in the inviting pretty garden. It is remote place but there are wonderful sites to see nearby, Messums Barn, Stourhead and Wordour Castle to list a few. There are plenty of pubs within driving distant, The Royal Oak at Swallowcliffe is worth a visit. We would definitely stay again. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

Due to a mix up at booking Claire allowed me to bring my cockapoos even though only one dog allowed. It is clean, spacious and very comfortable. My friend & I had a very relaxing time. Lucky for us the weather was great. The garden is lovely. It is in a quite remote place which suited us perfectly. Welcome gifts were scrumptious. Flowers placed in every room. Sofa and beds very comfy. Plenty of kitchen equipment if needed. Would we stay again? Absolutely. Thank you so much for a great holiday cottage.

“The Cartbarn is a beautifully restored barn.”

Everything in it is of the highest quality. There is no using old things to fill gaps. Curtains, cushions and sofas all lovely and top quality. In the bedrooms white linen sheets and pillowcases and goose down duvet made it hard to get out of bed and the fabulous view was so relaxing. Upstairs is very spacious, light and airy with a giant bed and roomy en suites in both bedrooms and lots of storage for clothes . Claire had left exuberant jugs of flowers on the chest of drawers in both rooms. In the kitchen there was not a single utensil lacking during our stay and a plentiful supply of tea towels, j cloths, household roll etc made for an easy life. The garden at the Cartbarn is lovely, very private with good garden furniture and parasol with plenty of parking that doesn’t overshadow the garden. You could not have nicer owners, so welcoming and generous , leaving some delicious goodies and carrying down a special garden chair for my sister who is disabled. Both Claire and William made us so welcome in an unfussy and unobtrusive way. The Cartbarn nestles into glorious countryside with a mass of lovely walks whilst being only a very short drive into the village with an interesting little high street, everything from specialist food shops to the co-op, not forgetting a very good affordable boutique and a main line station to London. We both felt refreshed and uplifted at the end of our week. It was very hard to leave….

The clever open plan design maximises the space on the ground floor and the large windows ensure that the main area is beautifully lit (even during a horribly grey February). The upstairs rooms are also very well planned and, like the living areas, benefit from stylish furniture and tasteful artworks. The location is lovely, close to Tisbury on the Wiltshire/Dorset border.

There are very pleasant countryside walks from The Cart Barn which is perfect for anyone seeking tranquillity with Salisbury, Stourhead, Shaftesbury and other tourist attractions not far away.

“The cottage is in a delightful setting and very secluded.”

Masses of natural light through the windows, and the kitchen was well appointed. The garden was safe for a toddler under supervision. The main things marring our visit was a 13.5 tog duvet in the height of summer, and both sets of settees were very uncomfortable. The corner unit would struggle to seat two people, let alone the four adults the cottage caters for. The owners were very welcoming. If the comfort issues were addressed I would certainly come back.

“Claire and William were absolutely fantastic couldn't have wished for more attentive people.”

Lovely fresh flowers eggs and even picked fresh blackberries when they found out I had a head cold to provide vitamin c for recovery. Speedy attention when the boiler cut out The only things I would say would be the mattresses quite hard and summer weight duvets be available and the couch in the TV area uncomfortable needs new padding for seating other wise Will everything wonderful. “We very much enjoyed our stay at the Old Cart Barn.”

The conversion has all been done to a great standard with bespoke and quirky features and with a lovely homely rustic feel. It is well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The secluded garden is so peaceful and relaxing with just the sounds of the countryside and we were fortunate to have lovely warm weather to enjoy most of our meals there outside. Claire and William the owners were there to greet us and were so knowledgable and interesting to talk with about the local area. They left fresh milk and eggs from their hens for us on arrival. During our stay we really appreciated their quick response to resolve a hot water issue, one of the benefits of having the owners close by on hand. We would love to book this cottage again in the future.

“The Cart Barn is wonderful.”

In a secluded spot and surrounded by countryside, it has been restored to a very high standard and has all you could possibly need - the owners have thought of everything . From the gorgeous linen with luxurious pillows and duvets to the lovely curtains and stylish cushions on the sofas. The owner is unobtrusive whilst being at the neighbouring farm and on hand if needed. The area is lovely and unspoilt and there are lots of footpaths straight from the door. This is a very “high end” property and our week here was a joy - we have booked again for next year!

The cottage is very charming and offered everything we needed: beautiful views, calm surroundings, comfy beds and a very pretty area to explore. During the days we went to Salisbury, Frome (highly recommended!), Winchester and other places nearby. At night, we slept like logs. Claire and William were lovely hosts. We even got some fresh eggs from them! We would recommend visiting Frome.

“We had a super relaxing time at the delightful, spacious & quiet 'Cart Barn'.”

A rather quirky & pleasant place to stay for the much needed peace & quiet we were looking for. All very clean & nice upon arrival with a lovely fresh cake to welcome us. The kitchen was very well equipped which included a microwave, dishwasher & washing machine & being open plan made it feel very light, spacious & airy. Both bedrooms felt roomy with luxury superking size beds with quality bedding & both en-suites well equipped & clean. Easy off road parking for 2 vehicles. Nearby walks were welcoming with our small dog with the country lanes being non existent from traffic & lovely views from the somewhat rural location. Claire (the owner) popped in to greet us & was very lovely, friendly & welcoming. We would definitely recommend The Cart Barn to anyone looking for tranquility.

An exceptional conversion maintaining the character of the original building. Very comfortable and well appointed. Everything was of a high quality, lovely towels and luxury bed linen. And there were flowers in every room. A lovely touch especially in the depths of winter. Thank you. The owner was friendly and helpful and it was a pleasure to spend a week here. Just one point...the property was difficult to find as the whole hamlet has the same postcode. The Barn is nestled in an attractively landscaped garden beyond a line of pleached pear trees.

With plenty of contemporary style, the interior offers an uncluttered and practical living space.

The glass fronted entrance, created from the original bays of the cart shed, is a particularly special feature of the building and floods the ground floor living area with light.

Situated in the small village of Ridge and close to the village of Chilmark. The nearby character village of Chilmark sits on the Wiltshire side of the border with Dorset, 2 miles from the bustling small town of Tisbury. Chilmark village boasts numerous attractive stone and thatched cottages, many made from local Chilmark stone, which was used in the construction of Salisbury's 13th century cathedral. The surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and gently undulating chalk downland provides wonderful walking opportunities, while there are also many delightful places to visit, such as picturesque Stourhead, historic Shaftesbury, Longleat, ancient Stonehenge, or the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury. This great location has plenty to offer at any time of the year.
