A lovely apartment but let down by many factors.

When we arrived the apartment had not been cleaned. All that had been done was the bedding and towels changed. The first thing we had to do was to clean the dirty stains in both toilets. The shower had not been cleaned and there was pubic hair on the shower floor. Ugh!! The kitchen worktops were all sticky and we had to clean those and the nest of tables, when we pulled the bottom one out had biscuit crumbs and tea stains on and there were crumbs underneath the sofa. The oven was very dirty and we would not use it as it obviously constituted a health hazard. The balcony door was filthy and this hampered the view out to sea. We had to get the car sponge and clean it ourselves. None of this acceptable for the price we paid for the apartment! Also the kitchen window had a lovely view out to sea but the glass had blown and needed replacing in order to see out of the window. In the kitchen 60% of the crockery was badly chipped, one plate had been broken in half and glued up again! This represents a medium for bacteria to grow and is in itself a health and hygiene issue. This was the first of many apartments we have hired which did not supply a welcome pack. In addition, there was no iron or ironing board, no bread knife, teapot or jug. All staple things necessary to self-catering which the advertising alluded it was equipped for. What was staggering was that we read a review from May 2026 which cited most of the same issues which we had. How can the owner not have rectified them in the intervening weeks? A lovely apartment spoilt by lack of care.

We've booked a number of times in the past with Sykes and generally enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately not so much on this occasion.

The apartment was clean and tidy and close to the beach, but there was just something lacking about it. First thing on arrival, was that there was no welcome package of any sort. Most places will provide things like milk, homemade produce, tea/coffee & biscuits or on occasions, even flowers on the table just as a welcome. However nothing here (apart from a dishcloth, scouring pad & a couple of dishwasher tablets). It might not be a big thing, but its just a way of showing that you and your booking custom are welcome & appreciated. We immediately felt a coldness from one of the residents we encountered on arrival, who despite getting a 'hello' from us, just completely snubbed us and walked past. This resident unpleasantness was to manifest itself again a few hours later. We, having a few items of wet clothes, put them on the provided airer on the balcony to get a bit of air and dry. Around 8pm on our arrival day, an unpleasant, written in red capitals note was put through our door telling us that putting washing out on the balcony was not permitted, to read our information pack and remove it - signed 'The Laconi Management Co.' Well, I read the information pack, the information sent by Sykes and the information board downstairs and there was nothing to say we couldn't put it out on the balcony. If this is the case, then the information pack needs updating immediately. This put us off straight away, with the fact that we were in the apartment at the time and just a friendly knock on the door and an explanation would have sufficed and we would have removed it. From then on, we felt that we would be constantly monitored by the unknown resident who wrote the note. The apartment we felt, is still aimed as a second home for the owners (mentioned in the info pack), with the second bedroom's beds, the games & DVDs aimed at young (pre 10yrs) children. Part way through the week, I went to hoover, however there isn't one - only a rechargeable handheld car type hoover which doesn't do a lot. A Bread knife would be handy, as would an iron & ironing board as there is a washer/drier. As someone has mentioned previously, some of the plates are chipped and need replacing as do some of the baking trays. There is no guestbook either to put your comments in, which is unusual. Probably one of the most annoying things though, and I know it must be difficult to keep on top of, is that the windows and french balcony door windows are filthy - great sea view, but it was on the cusp of looking through a frosted bathroom window. However though, the apartment is of a nice size, clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in and it is very quiet in that location. Area-wise, Southbourne, Boscombe & Bournemouth are really rundown town-wise, with Poole & Lymington being the nicest areas around there. Hengistbury Head is worth walking round and the nearby Riverside Inn at Tuckton served one of the best Sunday Roasts we have ever had. Sadly, those few highlights wouldn't be enough to get us to return here though - just not a particularly enjoyable holiday on this occasion.

When we arrived we noticed that a flat was in a nice quiet area with everything we needed, we will be looking at coming back in the near future

We found the flat to be warm and cosy in an ideal location for getting to the beach quickly and with a lovely view of the sea from the living room and balcony.

The owner has created a handy folder of local information such as nearby eating places that we found very helpful. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for making some meals when we were not eating out or getting a takeaway. The arrival instructions from Sykes were easy to follow and we found the apartment very easily.

Couldn’t fault it. Great location with designated parking. Apartment is clean, comfortable and well appointed. Will definitely return.

Lovely property with great location.

Gentle walk to the beach. All we could ask for in a holiday let. It was clean and comfortable and there was even a very useful and very appreciated welcome pack. The balcony overlooking the sea speaks for itself. Would come again.

Lovely well stocked property with great view of the sea it was a shame the windows needed cleaning and one had blown.

It’s a must with a property with a sea view that you can enjoy it looking out?

Great location, lovely views over the sea, well furnished and comfortable.

The property at watten edge close was spotless and so comfortable in the lounge all so the bed was the same as I suffer with back trouble but pain free all that week the view from the balcony was gorgeous to wake up to.

This was a really lovely apartment with everything we needed for our stay.

The flat was very comfortable and we appreciated the breakfast provisions, which were there to greet us. We plan to come back to the flat next year, as it fitted all our requirements.

Loved the apartment which is well equipped and close to the beach .

Lots to visit locally and bus service is very good. Will return next year
