“This is a lovely property with a well kitted out kitchen and comfortable furniture.”

The conversion of the chapel is beautifully done and all of the furniture is of very good quality. The location is excellent and it’s a nice to stay in as it is to explore the local area which has a lot to offer with something for every interest. We’ll certainly be booking again. Some of the bedding was a little tired - I’ll bring a pillow or two next time. But this didn’t stop of from having a lovely stay!

The property

Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies The Chapel, a lovingly converted semi-detached property just a short walk away from the exceptional Jurassic coastline and the local amenities of West Lulworth.

Sleeping up to six guests, this property is perfect for a family escape or a retreat with friends to explore the many wonders that Dorset has to offer.

Step inside this impressive property and marvel at the fantastic features that greet you, including high ceilings, large windows and a fascinating suspended walkway above you, connecting the first floor bedrooms.

Venture into the open-plan living space, sure to be the social hub of your holiday, and light up the woodburning stove that sits proudly in the sitting area, bringing both charm and warmth to the room, as well as the luxury addition of underfloor heating throughout the whole ground floor, being a delight to return to after a day of exploring.

Sit around the dining table together as an abundance of natural light flows through the room from the tall windows, while the head chef of the group explores the wonderfully, well-equipped kitchen, with plenty of space for little helpers to get involved at the central island.

Be sure to make the most of your outside space in the summer months, whether it being sitting amidst the mature hedges and greenery as you sip on a warming cup of tea or coffee, or dining alfresco, with plenty of space for play and soaking up the last of the evening sun, with stunning views of Hambury Tout, the vast chalk hill which overlooks the coast.

When it's time to rest, take your pick from the ground or first floor, with the ground floor hosting a double bedroom served by a shower room with wc, the perfect choice for those less able or those seeking a sleeping spot away from the excitement of the group, while up on the first floor you will find a further double and a bunkbed room, making a wonderful layout for a family, with the beautiful bathroom featuring an elegant roll top bath, basin and WC on this floor too.

When you can finally tear yourselves away from this beautiful base, take a stroll into the local village of West Lulworth, home to a well-stocked village shop, welcoming public houses and various local eateries, it hosts all you need for a self-catered stay, as well as boasting some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline, making it a wonderful choice for your escape to Dorset.

From the village you can also find the inviting pebble beach of Lulworth Cove, providing even more wondrous views and beautiful beachside shacks serving a range of tasty foods, including local seafood and ice cream, as well as marvellous clifftop walk from here taking you to the most photographed landmark of Dorset; Durdle Door.

Explore the beautiful Lulworth Castle for a spot of history, or simply enjoy leisurely strolls along the South West Coast Path to find even more historic wonders such as The Fossil Forest, boasting the remains of an ancient submerged forest from Jurassic times, the pillars and caves of Stair Hole, snorkelling at Kimmeridge Bay and much more.

In easy reach of Wareham, Weymouth, Poole and beyond, The Chapel promises to be a spectacular base for exploring the beautiful Jurassic coast, at any time of the year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.
