The property

Amy Cottage is a beautifully well-appointed detached thatched cottage with two external doors (one of West Lulworth's first original thatched residences built circa 1600), resting in the heart of West Lulworth, within paces of the World UNESCO site of Lulworth Cove.

This charming abode occupies a wonderful location, where you can walk straight from the raised garden terrace at the rear along the South West Coast Path, which winds its way through inspirational landscape scenery.

This is the perfect getaway for families and friends looking to leave behind a busy lifestyle for a while and experience a different kind of holiday.

It is bursting with character, the ceilings are low, the walls are crooked and there are exposed beams appearing throughout.

You enter the cottage from the rear, where there is off-road parking for one car, and head straight into the utility room to kick off your walking boots.

From here, step down into the wonderfully appointed dining room, where you can share a hearty breakfast with your loved ones or sip your morning coffee at the window seat.

The ground floor is beautifully tiled throughout with Travertine-style tiles for a quality finish.

Head into the country cottage kitchen and rustle up a home-cooked dinner at the fabulous electric range cooker, before getting around the farmhouse-style dining table.

Attention to detail shows, with considered light fixtures and beautiful furnishings to complete the space.

Just off from the kitchen, you will find a shower room and then a bathroom, so you can return from the beach and relax in the warm bubbles in the bath tub.

Move through to the lounge and get cosy by the fire as you unwind in front of the TV and discuss events from the day.

At the end of a venturesome day when you have enjoyed an evening of relaxation, choose to sleep in the ground floor single, or climb the stairs to find three more wonderfully appointed bedrooms, each with storage space and elegant fixtures.

All of the bedding at Amy Cottage is pure linen, which is a real dream to sleep under - keeping you cool in the summer and warm and cosy in the winter.

The majority of soft furnishings have been handmade using Peony and Sage fabrics which gives the cottage a wonderful light and calming feel.

To the exterior, make the most of an afternoon tea with creamy scones and jam, and sit out on the patio to enjoy the fresh coastal air.

The raised garden terrace affords you views over the surrounding hills and countryside over the thatched roof tops of the village cottages.

Venture through the gate and straight out onto the South West Coastal Path, which is dramatic in its climbs and descents and very enjoyable, as it offers exceptional views towards the Isle of Portland and over Weymouth Bay on a clear day.

The cottage sits on the main road in the village and is a short walk from the village shop, pub, and several restaurants.

Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door rest in the heart of the area and are a must visit during your stay, some of the most photographed and iconic landmarks in the UK.

You can brush up on your history, with castles, towns and villages of the area beckoning.

Choose Amy Cottage for the ideal Dorset holiday.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.

Please note: this property does not accept children under the age of 10.
Note: The property has a Good Housekeeping Bond of 250 GBP.
