“Unable to open the front door on arrival.”

It was pouring with rain, and it would have been helpful to have been able to contact the owner directly. Disappointed to find that a main road runs alongside the property. It was noisy during the day, which spoiled the garden, but it was fine at night. It is not a good look when plants in the garden are neglected. The cordyline desperately needs repotting, and the lavender is almost dead. The bamboo is also aggressively taking over some beautiful plants. The communal entrance hall light flashes on and off like a lighthouse, which is very annoying. There is no mention that there are rusty Acro props supporting the balcony. A note in the flat says they are temporary, but it appears they have been in place for quite some time. One unintended result is that they have prevented the gutter from draining, making it a source of water for birds. The TV is mounted too high. We could only watch for about an hour before it became uncomfortable for our necks. This was disappointing, as we had walked over seven miles each day and had hoped to relax and watch our favourite programmes in the evening.

I’m not sure what the problem was with the front door and why you couldn’t get in , however you successfully gained entry through the back door with our assistance. The garden is tended to every week and the hedge was cut earlier this year, we do not live on site and cannot water the pots daily. This is a holiday let , not Kew Gardens. Swanage is a town and unfortunately has roads running through it, so there will be traffic noise at times . The light in the communal hallway can easily be remedied by closing a door so that it can’t be seen. The TV height has not been reported to us as problematic. There is one acrow prop in situ on our property and we are pleased to confirm building works commence later this year.We are as frustrated as you ,that the owners of this beautiful building have allowed it to fall into a state of disrepair and we can only apologise. Having raised these issues after your departure we were unable to assist you during your stay. Property Owner

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.

One well-behaved dog welcome (additional dog accepted upon request).
Please note: This property only accepts Friday - Friday bookings
