“The holiday home has amazing views looking over to Portland and it would have been perfect if it wasn’t for the cleanliness of the house.”

It was very clear that dogs had been staying because there were dog hairs under beds and in corners which could have quite easily been cleaned. Our dog doesn’t shred so we were not used to this. The sofas were a bit grubby but bedding and towels were all perfectly clean and so was the bathroom and toilet. We couldn’t get the gas hob to work and never got a call back about this so we made do. The balcony which I thought was a definite selling point in this property could have had more comfortable seating outside but they were adequate. Same with the garden furniture which we didn’t use as they were a bit old and needed updating. Nearby there is a little beach and it’s a perfect location to go exploring. Also across the road is the castle ruin and beautiful garden which can be a good place to take the dog out quickly. The cafe across the road was also lovely to crab a coffee first thing in the morning although they can be a bit noisy setting up. Just a few finishing touches and cleanliness could make this house perfect!

The property

Sea King House is a stunning modern terraced house with balcony and sea views across Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour, located only a few minutes' walk to the Sandsfoot beach - a small sandy beach at the end of the road by the sailing club.

Sea King House is perfect for families, accommodating up to five guests in three bedrooms which are all on the second floor with family bathroom.

Sea King House has been thoughtfully updated and presented by the owners with a keen eye for design.

The bright open plan first floor sitting room with dining area is clean and contemporary and has stylish white leather furniture.

Fronting the lounge is a balcony which overlooks Sandsfoot Gardens and out to sea where you can relax and get lost watching the mood rising over the Portland. Take the Rodwell Trail walk which spans from Weymouth to Portland and follows the old railway route for a gentle stroll.

Few minutes away from the property is a pub and a convenience store for the morning magazine or most necessary things. A twenty-minute walk away is Brewers Quay and the old harbour with a variety of restaurants and pubs and just a few minutes further is the town centre and the main beach with more shops and places of interest.

Easily accessible by car are the numerous attractions of South Dorset which include beautiful Lulworth Cove and the acclaimed Monkey World ape rescue centre – a fabulous place to visit with children. The Isle of Portland with National Sailing Academy and all water sports attractions are just a short drive away from the property.

The island itself offers abundance of walks inland and around.

It is very popular with birdwatchers as well as walkers. Sea King House is a lovely holiday home for families or friends wanting a quiet location still not too far from the town centre.

About the location

Castle Cove is a firm favourite with locals, sitting along side the Rodwell trail area, Castle Cove Beach is usually uncrowded, and offers safe bathing from it’s gently sloping shoreline. There are two main beach areas, Castle Cove, new steps to the beach opened early in 2019, and Sandsfoot beach, both with soft golden sand and the vibe of the best kept secret. Sandsfoot castle is just two minutes’ walk from the beach where you will find castle ruins, pretty award-winning gardens and a small café, offering snacks, drinks and ice-creams. Accessed off Old Castle Road in Weymouth, this area is a real treat for those who want to be away from the buzz and bright lights of the traditional Weymouth Seafront, and yet close enough to venture there when they choose. When you are on the beach you could be forgiven for thinking you are miles from town, and yet you are only a 15-20 minute walk from the old Harbour and access to Weymouth town centre. If you want to know where the locals would recommend you spend your beach days, then Castle Cove and Sandsfoot beaches are it.
