Lovely property great views out to sea , Lovely touch by owners leaving a hamper of local produce on arrival.

The property was perfect.

We absolutely loved the view over the gardens and out past the castle to the sea! We loved sitting on the balcony in the mornings watching people come and go. It's conveniently located between two lovely beaches and with the Rodwell Trail immediately behind it. There was a welcome pack when we arrived and a bottle of milk. Another plus of this property is that it comes with parking and a small garden out the back.

We had a wonderful week, beautiful house and the balcony made it special, fantastic views across Portland harbour, the owners had thought of absolutely everything that was needed for our stay and was spotlessly clean!

. Enclosed garden was just the job for our dog Ted, a couple of lovely beaches only a short walk away which made it perfect for paddle boarding and snorkelling, the welcome pack was a nice addition, we wouldn’t hesitate to go back!, all in all a great place and holiday, thank you so much!.

'Lookout' is well situated and well appointed.

The view from the balcony off the living room is unrivalled: directly opposite Sandsfoot Gardens, with Portland harbour beyond and further the Isle of Portland itself. There are, though, some drawbacks to the property. If, like me, you can struggle with stairs, be warned, there are a lot of them - not only that, they are both steep and deep. To park any car larger than a Mini in the covered parking space, you need nerves of steel and nor is the road as quiet as you might think. The open nature of the gardens means that occasionally there are late night gatherings of mostly young people who give no thought to the amount of noise they are creating.

This was our second seven night stay at the lookout having had such a great time last year aswel and on arrival back home we have booked another stay for next year it is a lovely clean property with every essential you need and nothing better than having your breakfast on the balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens and ocean

Cottage very clean .

The welcome gift and milk was appreciated. The views were amazing over to Portland.Not far too walk to Weymouth taking about 20min,down a few lanes. Enjoyed a lovely holiday.

Lovely location, very clean and comfortable with everything you need and great view from the windows and was a big plus being able to sit out on the balcony.

As others have said access to parking is on the narrow side, perfect for a Fiat 500 sized car but we managed okay by just backing part way in. The Rodwell trail is right by the property and easy flat walk to Weymouth one way and Portland the other, Portland walk provides lovely sea views and would recommend Pebble Pig for lunch. We loved Lookout, didn't want to leave!

We stayed here over the New Year week and had a wonderful time.

2025 had been an awful year for us and this was the tonic we needed. As other reviews have said, the view is amazing and watching the sun rise behind the castle was magical. The house was very clean and well equipped and very dog friendly with lots of places to walk nearby. We loved it and hope to visit again

Wonderful stay at a lovely well presented and equipped house in a beautiful location.

It is by far the best property we have ever stayed in cannot fault anything absolutely perfect.

Gorgeous accommodation with everything needed for a comfortable relaxing stay.

Clean, the beds we used were very comfortable, amazing views, warm, carpeted, everything functioning as it should. No issues with door locks/handles, outdoor noise, stair carpet as mention in another review - all seemed great to us. Thank you for the very nice Welcome Gift and milk in the fridge. Just far enough from Weymouth's hustle and bustle, easy enough to walk there or if you want to avoid a couple of hills, you could be there in minutes in the car instead and walk along the sea promenade instead. Bonus that we saw lots of cruise ships plus some Chinook's flying about. Dogs loved the walking and snoozing afterwards. Would recommend.

We had a fabulous holiday at The Lookout.

Waking up to the beautiful view of the gardens and castle, with the backdrop of the sea, was really special; as was dining on the balcony. The accommodation was more spacious than expected from the photos. We took 2 cars and could fit the 5 door Mini Cooper in the car port with 1 wing mirror folded in and some careful driving. The SUV fitted across the double drive. The kitchen and utility room were very well equipped and had everything you could possibly need, even a cheese grater and plastic storage containers. There were even a selection of dog bowls. We have never had those in a holiday home before ! We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back.

We have been coming to The Lookout for 9 years appreciating the gorgeous views and quietness of the area, unfortunately, our recent stay proved to be the last.

The first Friday of the month always brings the annual high school prom photos in the gardens, however, this year a lot of the teenagers returned and displayed total disregard for the residents and the gardens by playing loud music, rowdiness and underage drinking until the early hours of 4am leaving the gardens strewn with rubbish, empty cans etc and this was again repeated on our last night by another set of high school prom attendees. There is also a lot more traffic in the once quiet road and to keep hearing motorbikes being used in the early hours as a racetrack proved to the the final straw in our stay. In the property itself, the front doorbell does not work, the back door lock proved temperamental in locking, the dishwasher still had two cracks on the handle and also proved temperamental with the programs. On the last few stairs heading to the first floor, the carpet was coming apart. The cutlery, cups, glasses, plates and bowls all had to go into the dishwasher as they were either dirty or grease marked which came as a shock. The quilt cover for the double bed was ripped and the blankets were stained in both rooms. This year's stay proved to be the worst ever and for the first time in 9 years, we were not sorry to return home and will not be returning to The Lookout again. Anyone attending the property next year on the first Friday of July will need to be prepared for rowdiness and a much disturbed night as the residents told us on our departure morning, the last two weeks have been the worst with teenagers and the police were nowhere to be found.

Kitchen equipment needs upgrading

Had a lovely seven night stay here we thought everything about the property was perfect including the location in fact as soon as we got back from our stay we re booked for next year

Very enjoyable fortnight at Lookout with superb weather putting the icing on the cake.

We much enjoyed watching the activity at the front in Sandsfoot Park and in the harbour beyond, with the well used café adding to the entertainment. Lookout is very well equipped and we were surprised how clean it was on arrival. We did have one potentially nasty problem as the heating element in the oven failed, but after reporting it first thing in the following morning, it had been fixed when we returned mid-afternoon - impressive service. We were concerned about the warning of the restricted width of the carport openings, but with only one car - BMW 3-series, so not small - it was easy to park sideways across the front and so avoid the potential problem.

The property was excellent, well maintained.

Brilliant for two dogs. We will definitely be booking again. Thanks

We enjoyed a great Christmas stay at the LOOKOUT.

Quiet and extremely comfortable - particularly the beds/bedding. Kitchen compact but very well equipped - even a big old carving plate for the Turkey which was unexpected! The view across Sandfoot Park and out to Portland Harbour is a pleasure to wake up to - and the 2 quiet and issolated beaches just a short distance in both directions have already tempted us into another booking in July. Will just have to make sure I don't succmb to a Pasty with my Coffee every morning at the cafe-shack in the park opposite! I never braved parking fully in either of the car ports underneath - just too tight for me! So parked with either my bonnet edged in or on the hardstanding across the front of the 2 arches.

This is are third year at the Lookout, and it’s as good as the first time, will definitely book again!

Perfect position and wonderful outlook had us return after a great holiday last September.

Our visit this time spoilt by large gathering of very noisy youths gathered in the park until 2 am and people using the Lookout forecourt as free parking whilst visiting the park. Lookout is a fantastic property and well equipped but would be better if fitted with a second wc, bit awkward if someones bathing and you need the toilet.

As always the holiday home was perfect and why we return year after year to The Lookout.

Clean and tidy.Everything u need in the cottage ,lots of crockery in the kitchen.Lovely veiw from the balcony..And only 15min walk to weymouth,Had a lovely holiday.

This is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

We made good use of the balcony while the weather was good. The location is ideal for easy walking into Weymouth either over the headland or along the Rodwell trail. The only thing that let the property down is tiles on the outside of the master bedroom windows rattling in the wind. Three nights of disturbed sleep. Other than that, we shall return and have already given details of the property to friends having seen our photos.

The only thing wrong was the middle pier in the parking space below made the openings to small so you couldn’t get your car in .

In my opinion the owner needs to remove the pier and have one big opening. Apart from that everything else was excellent and I would definitely go again

The property was so clean and ever thing was there inside, but felt the outside area could be cleaned a bit before people arrive the balcony didn't look like it had been cleaned and car port wasn't very clean , but we would go back as property was very good and beautiful views ,I recommend it to my sister and she has booked for my next May .

What a gem; two sandy deserted coves five minutes away, stunning views and delightful small gardens with cafe opposite.

Weymouth a twenty minute walk and a beautiful level coastal walk to Chesil beach and Abbotsbury in the other direction. Spent an afternoon watching naval exercises in the harbour (with helicopter) and there were cruise ships coming and going daily.If you can spare the time to get here you will be well rewarded.

Wow, view to die for!

We were lucky with the weather so had deep blue sea views and also saw sea mist roll in and disappear, not to mention the sunrises, could just sit there all day and not get bored. So relaxing. The cafe also does the best ice creams. Cottage was clean and tidy and well equipped, had everything we needed. Would just like to point out the bedroom windows need a bit of attention as very stiff to close and squeaky, (must annoy neighbour when closing them). Lovely walks along the Rodwell Trail, accessed just behind the cottage. Had a very enjoyable week, thanks to the owners for renting

The Lookout is a fabulous property.

Stunning views, nice location, and very clean and tidy. Kitchen and Bathroom were in exceptionally good condition. The sofa's did smell a little musty and in my personal opinion perhaps previous guests dog's have tinkled on the front door carpet which also held an odour. This is understandable considering how popular this accommodation is and rented out. The local cat is also using the rear garden as a giant litter tray. Loved the accommodation, loved the property and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it and also returning in the future. A big thank you to the owners for renting this superb property out and allowing others to enjoy it.

Gorgeous house, lovely and clean.

Beautiful views, in a lovely area. T. V needs attention, as couldn't get on with all the remotes, and couldn't get it working properly, so gave up. But despite that, the place is a little gem. Gorgeous.

Very nice property with all required facilities and great view of the bay within walking distance of both Weymouth and Portland.

Only comment would be that the TV was rather confusing to use as it had the TV itself, a Manhattan box and a BT box. Some of the guidance was outdated referring to the wrong remotes and it was unclear what the BT box was for as there were no free or subscription TV channels available (that we could discern) and the internet apps were already available on the TV itself.

We have stayed in the area of Castle Cove many times & love the beautiful area.

The accommodation was everything we could have asked for, it was spotless, the location was amazing, had a perfect view of the gardens, castle & sea. It was like home from home you had everything we needed. Definitely would book again. Thank you

The new improved shower was a great plus along with the balcony furniture.

It would be worthwhile to have a lock on the back gate as we had hired bicycles (Weymouth Bike Hire( for our stay and had to use the bins to secure the gate overnight. As always the location of our holiday home proved ideal with the trail path and a short walk into Nothe Gardens which also leads into the town. We've already booked next year's holiday stay at the same location as per year's before.

Very nice place to stay great location in a lovely part of the world.

The property was clean comfortable and provided us with everything we needed. The view across the bay is stunning and we loved sitting out on the balcony. Just 1 little niggle considering the price for a week's stay we thought the provision of 1 toilet roll a bit stingy.

We had a great week at the lookout and enjoyed the location and facilities provided.

It’s situated a 20 minute walk from Weymouth harbour and a short drive from Portland. Have to say we were a little disappointed to have to clear up some dog mess left behind from a previous tenants pet in the back yard on our arrival. Also, considering one of the main features of this property is the view, I was shocked at the state of the windows in the lounge overlooking Sandsfoot castle and gardens, you could barely see out of them! Luckily I had some car windscreen wipes to hand but it took a good 30 minutes to get them up to an acceptable standard. This is just not acceptable. That said, after our initial cleaning spell, we did have a lovely week!

If you have a large car parking would be really difficult as it is very narrow best to reverse in.

Another toilet would have been useful.overall we loved our stay and hope to return.

Lovely property which we have rebooked for September.

Could benefit from a nonslip shower mat and such a pity only one loo on the top floor! This was our only disappointment We recommended our good friends Mr and Mrs Nairn to you and they have booked Sea King House at no. 84A in September. We wondered why they are paying £400- less for the same week as us in September and they have 3 bedrooms and we only have 2 and the 1 loo? We do hope to visit the same spot several times each year now we have retired and wondered if the price can be reconsidered for us? We also appreciate your £40- discount for September. The property had fantastic views.Parking was not a problem as we were able to park across the two spaces as we only had one car.The only small complaint we had was no spare toilet rolls or kitchen rolls.We would not hesitate to recommend the property to anyone.

This is a lovely cottage with a fantastic view.

You can walk into Weymouth via a road and then Nothe Gardens or to the link road to Portland via the old railway line both quite quickly. There is a hidden beach and go down there and when the tide is right you can eventually get a steep path up to the Cliff path to Weymouth. However, the days 2 cars would fit was when cars weren’t so wide. You can park one car parallel to the garages. I would think this is more a family property than one for 4 adults. I stayed as a single guest.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Lookout.

Great location. A couple of minutes walk to a sandy beach which is relatively quiet. 25 min walk or a 10 min drive into Weymouth. The balcony is the real selling point for this property, fantastic view and we loved spending time on there. Property would really benefit from having a second toilet and there is scope for that if the car ports were reconfigured. Deffo recommend Joy Wok Chinese takeaway, food was delicious.

As always The Lookout does not fail to impress with its fabulous views and gorgeous Sandsfort Gardens opposite the property.

The town is easily accessible via the coastal path behind the property or walk through Nothe Gardens to the town via a couple of side roads. We have been returning to the property each year for our family getaway for several years.

Wonderful place to stay.

Great accommodation, very well equipped. Peaceful area. It was like home from home but with a view to take your troubles away. We can not fault anything. The highest recommendation we can make is that we have booked again for next year. See you in 2023.

We would have found recycling easier if there had been more than one bin in the kitchen.

Also the narrow entrance to the parking bay was a bit of a shock, millimetres to spare! But these ae very minor niggles, overall this is a super property in a wonderful location.

Well equipped, and exceptionally clean. Welcome pack was appreciated. A hand towel for the kitchen would be useful. We were unable to park in the car port as it was too narrow, not a problem as we were able to park across the frontage.

Great views over Sandsfoot to the sea.

Comfortable sofas and beds. Limited space for 4 adults, better for couples and family with smaller children. Steep stairs to access lounge, kitchen and second set to bathroom and beds. Top to bottom: main bed creaky, second bedroom requiring shuffle past beds, dresser needs repair as draw fronts coming off; bathroom very narrow access to shower and small bath, I couldn't use either. Very loud sink! Creaky stairs which were obviously the same next door as we heard next door often. Nice mirror in bathroom. Thin walls? Heard next door frequently and could hear people and traffic outside even with windows closed. Winerack unstable. Only 2 x 2 seat sofas in lounge, no arm chairs. Dining table squashed into lounge begins one of the sofas. 4 dining chairs with expandable round table. TV freesat works ok. Bt box pretty useless as most of channels not available. Kitchen probably one of the best equipped ever. Oven overhead extractor might need attention. Great balcony overlooking gardens and sea; plastic chairs could do with cushions though. Sun trap in mornings. Narrow car port entrances.. Golf only just fitted leaving littld roomto access vehicle. Better to leave car across the two spaces leaving the path clear. Very busy road for a cul-de-sac. Lots of cars/vans and foot traffic. Popular cafe to edge of gardens with outdoor seating only being dragged out every day (yes, we could hear them). Goodish place to stay. Was it worth the money? Debatable!

The photos don't do justice to the view, it is fabulous.

We had a great time at the house and it met our needs.

The only criticism is it needs a new Hoover there is one but it is incomplete, although working not ideal.

Nice clean house.

Fully equipped. The beds were too hard (personal preference) and the shower cubicle is very small! The windows need updating and the door to the balcony can be difficult to open/shut. Just observations. The house is in a great location with dog friendly beaches within a few minutes walk and the town about 20 minutes along the coastal path. We will definitely stay in this area again. Possibly the same house if we bring something to make the beds more comfortable !

We had a fantastic stay at The Lookout in the May half term.

The accommodation was immaculate and very well equipped. The owners had thought of everything. The location was great, the beach is a 5 minute walk (down steps to beach) and the gardens opposite are amazing with a lovely cafe for my morning coffee! The view is AMAZING! Could wake up to that view everyday. Weymouth harbour/beach is a 25 minute walk. As mentioned before the entrance to the car port is fairly narrow and I could just tuck the front of my car in (Kuga) but it was still off road so no problem. We were lucky with the weather too!! Sunshine every day. Would definitely go back.

This house was just perfect.

Just across a quiet road from the park and literally overlooking the sea. The pictures in the advert really are how it is! Easy to walk into Weymouth or towards Portland, along the Rodway trail which you can join just behind the house. There is a small beach just a few minutes walk down the road. We spent a long weekend here with our two teenage children, on which the weather was not too good so it was lovely to have a great view to look out over from the living room or even on the sheltered balcony when the weather wasn't too bad. The house is very clean, tidy, comfortable and cosy and has everything you could want in it - a home from home. Would definitely stay here again.

Just back from a lovely week at Lookout.

The house is very comfortable and in a lovely situation. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony enjoying the view of the gardens, castle and harbour. The coffee shop in the gardens was a bonus. A lovely relaxing holiday.

Lovely views, lovely bathroom, bed very uncomfortable, sofas very uncomfortable, the furniture in the living/dinning area seem too big for the room and i feel like we were bumping into furniture a lot.

The views made up for what we were disappointed with inside. The place could do with a steam clean , carpets look grubby. The parking was awkward as the space through the archways is only big enough for small cars so that was not ideal for us as we have a big car.

Just back from out short midweek break at The Lookout.

We found the property to be just as described, and could not have been happier with the facilities or the location. Lots of local walks with our cockapoo, just 30 minutes (including sniffing time) to the beach in Weymouth itself , and so many fantastic places to visit within a 30min. car ride. Would love to come back to the area soon, and would be more than happy to return to The Lookout. Thank you for a wonderful break.

The property was immaculate with a wonderful view.

Convenient for access into Weymouth with great walking opportunities especially if you have a dog. Alan, Sharon & Priya ( a very happy cockapoo)

The only failing we could mention is that there were no recycling facilities- the local Asda as mentioned only takes paper, foil & juice cartons.

We had to drive into Weymouth to the local tip twice to recycle. We even took a previous holidaymakers bottles that had been left at the property as they clearly couldn’t recycle theirs either.

Immaculately kept property with the best view in Weymouth.

Castle Cove beach is just a 2 minute walk away and was beautiful, quiet and secluded. Absolutely perfect.

The Lookout is ideally suited in both location to the town centre and coastal path heading to Chesil Beach and lower part of Portland.

We return each year as the property provides the quietness away from the town centre and for the fabulous views of Portland harbor and the park.

One of the reasons we rented Lookout was that it had a dishwasher but we soon realised it wasn’t working correctly!

After consulting the instruction manual we went out & purchased dishwasher salt & rinse aid but this didn’t make it any better. By the second week we had given up on the dishwasher & had reverted to hand washing the dishes etc which we hadn’t really anticipated & found it to be a chore - not what we wanted on holiday! I think the machine needs a service or replacement.

Just a couple of things.

The sliding patio door onto the balcony is extremely stiff to open. Maybe it could do with a bit of grease or something. Also we had one very windy night and the side entrance gate kept blowing and banging open. On inspection the latches are broken/missing andlooks like they have been for a while. This also means anyone could walk to the rear of the property.

Everything went smoothly & easily, very pleased with overall experience.

An absolutely fantastic holiday, wonderful cottage, fab views. The dogs loved it. The property was unfaultable!!!!!

The location was brilliant, the view amazing. The gardens across the road were lovely and the café served good quality refreshments and the staff were friendly. The property overall was of a good standard, but it was the view from the balcony and bedroom windows that really made it. Would definitely stay again as loved the location so much.

This was our second holiday at this property it has the most beautiful views in a lovely location during our stay we booked our 2016 holiday here! The only thing I think needs something sorted is the rear garden as it is looking a little too overgrown .The staff at Dream Cottages are very helpful if you have any issues they work on it straight away and get things resolved that's why now I only book with this company I'm looking forward to many more holidays with Dream Cottages Stayed July 2015

Lookout is a fabulous holiday destination with the perfect blend of a quiet location with great views whilst also being the close enough to walk into town. With two children (10 and 11) there was more than enough places to explore right on the doorstep and a safe place for them to play right outside the front door. I have been going to Weymouth for over 34 years (since I was a child) and this is up there with one of my favorite places to stay. A great family holiday was had by all, thoroughly recommended. Absolutely loved it at the Lookout. The views were amazing, the property itself was fabulous, very well stocked with everything we needed. I don't normally go to the same place twice but I would deffo make an exception with the Lookout. I absolutely loved staying there and would recommend it in a heartbeat. We came away for a break from life as we had suffered a couple of bereavements in the year so we needed somewhere to relax and chill and take our minds off everything, this holiday was just the job. Excellent standard, very clean and very well equipped, it was perfect for us and we really liked and appreciated the property. The view was amazing too. Location of the property to Weymouth was good for us as we particularly like to walk everywhere (and there is no parking in Weymouth anyway!) and walking the coast path every day was fabulous.
