There is secure allocated undercover car parking for each cottage, which is a fantastic bonus, as parking is at a premium in central Weymouth. The location is ideal - probably one of the best in Weymouth - in the quaint old harbour quarter and approx 3 minutes walk from the harbour front with its beautiful scenery, shops, cafes and bars. The town centre, beach and fort are also within easy walking distance, but the location is peaceful as it is set back from the noise of the harbour. The ...

There is secure allocated undercover car parking for each cottage, which is a fantastic bonus, as parking is at a premium in central Weymouth. The location is ideal - probably one of the best in Weymouth - in the quaint old harbour quarter and approx 3 minutes walk from the harbour front with its beautiful scenery, shops, cafes and bars. The town centre, beach and fort are also within easy walking distance, but the location is peaceful as it is set back from the noise of the harbour. The cottage itself is a fantastic mix of charm (including exposed beams) with modern fittings, comfortable contemporary furniture and lovely artwork on the walls. It is very well equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and full size fridge freezer, plus everything you could reasonably need for cooking and dining. There is also a clothes drying area outside and a clothes dryer, iron and ironing board in the property, plus smart TVs and a selection of games, jigsaws and paperbacks. The property was clean and smart, and the owners left some milk plus a high quality “treats” hamper of filter coffee, tea, chocolate and cookies, which were very much appreciated! The only improvements I could suggest are that in the main bedroom the right side window was jammed shut, and the left hand side very stiff to open and close; this was only noticeable due to the hot weather. Also the window locks in the main bedroom and living room seemed not to lock so perhaps need some attention. A welcome addition might be a portable fan - we had our own but as we were lucky to stay in a very hot week we would have struggled without it. Overall we were delighted with our stay, would recommend it to others and hope to return.

“Splash is a lovely, comfortable and well equipped property in a quiet location near to Brewers Quay and the harbour.”

Allocated secure gated parking was good too. Just a few little things that would have improved our stay even more - a butter dish, a new knife set as we had to keep pushing the blade back into the handle and a better quality corkscrew. Also the light on the landing didn't give out any light, the night light gave more light!! These are all small things that didn't spoil the holiday but would just be improvements. We will definitely stay at Splash again and would recommend to others.

Thank you for your booking and feedback. The bulb in the light on the landing had actually blown (hence no light) this was replaced as soon as we were made aware. We have also put a new corkscrew in and we have sorted the loose knife handle. “Fantastic cottage, absolutely immaculate and everything you need is provided.”

The parking space is a real bonus. Very quiet but so close to Brewers Quay and all amenities. King size bed and sofa super comfortable. Lovely thoughtful welcome pack provided by owners. We had 2 great weeks at Splash and would definitely book again.

“Overall great property and fantastic position- Brewers Quay our favourite area.”

Comfortable lounge and great tv One highlight for us were the paintings on the wall - great artwork in every room. Couple of negatives - curtains in front bedroom - need blinds or blackout curtains that fit as these barely pulled together and the light comes through very easily Searched and searched but NO HAIRDRYER! only property ever visited not provided this. You really need to make this clear on description because for me a hairdryer is a necessity ! Had to purchase one! Last thing - the horrible plastic undersheet on main bed was awful! made a horrid noise when you moved in bed and omg makes you sweat so much its just awful! felt like i was an incontinent elderly person in a care home ! you need to put another cover over it - will be awful in hot summer time!

Thank you for your booking, we understand the agency did call you shortly after arrival to check everything was OK and you didn't mention anything was amiss to them. Unfortunately the hair dryer was taken out of Splash last week and put into Nuke next door (we own that property too) as the one we have in there went missing and the guests wanted one - in all honesty, we forgot to put a new one back into Splash so are very sorry you didn't have one. Rest assured, had you let the agency know they would have organised one for you as soon as they could. Re the bedroom curtains, these are black out and do pull together (albeit there isn't much play left in them when they are pulled). The mattress protector does have a quilted top to it and is not just a plastic sheet, we note your comments though of course so will review it's suitability, especially for the summer (although we are pretty sure nobody else has mentioned this to date). The cottage is well maintained with furniture, furnishings, towels, bedding crockery all in excellent condition. Loved the welcome pack with good quality Dorset treats. The location to Weymouth harbour, town centre and beach was great so didn't have to use the car. I can't wait to come back to this 5 star plus cottage. Excellent location to be able to quickly walk to many shops, restaurants and attractions but quiet and away from the busy streets. “Terrific location close to Brewers Quay and with reserved on-site parking what could be better?”

Immaculately presented property fully equipped. Broadband is very slow but the owner plans to upgrade that and set up Freeview. At present it is Freely TV which, with very slow broadband, is unsuitable. A long-handled broom would be useful and a butter dish. For older guests grab handles in the shower would be helpful. We loved it and would thoroughly recommend this excellent property.

Thank you for your positive feedback, we are glad you liked Splash and are keen to return. Full fibreoptic broadband is finally available in this area and we have an installation booked in for mid April after which high speed internet will be available in Splash, not just the standard copper connection we currently have. The TV can just pick up the free to air channels and had been set up for them but you reconfigured it somehow to only just show the internet channels through the Freely app. I am sure we can pick up a long handled broom and a butter dish as suggested. “Had a lovely stay at Splash our second visit.”

Lovely welcome packs and milk. Parking definitely a plus . I would like Sykes to consider getting in time to be a little earlier as this one is 4pm and another property we use is 5pm I think 3pm. House was very comfortable definitely a plus having a down stairs toilet and two bathrooms. Bed very comfortable too. We did have two small problems that were addressed promptly.

“The cottage appeared to be quite new, very clean and well equipped.”

The double bed was very comfy. The rooms are spacious with comfortable furniture. Just a short walk to the harbour area and over the bridge to shops and restaurants. Having dedicated parking is a bonus. The buses stop across the road.

“Nice location, although quite a walk from the station.”

One or two things would have been helpful - some kitchen roll, maybe an additional tea towel, and somewhere to charge a toothbrush and a contact mobile number to text rather than a landline. Otherwise a very good stay.

There is in fact a charge point for an electric toothbrush in the side of the mirror light in the main bathroom for future reference. We would always recommend guests contact the local agency based only a few minutes walk away in the main tourist square rather than call the main headquarters for the parent company, Sykes, as you will get a more immediate and personal service from Dream Cottages. “On the whole A very pleasant place to stay, Very good to have three toilets in such A small property although the sink's are too small and shallow with the single tap in the centre so you have to be careful you don't head butt it when washing your face, Strange as well no clocks anywhere, Also some signs of damp in the downstairs toilet, Shower cubicle devoid of anywhere to put your sponge & soap and shampoo bottles, But A very pleasant place for us to stay for A week.”

I understand what you are saying about the sinks but that is the way they are mostly designed these days, with the hole for the tap in the centre of the basin - I agree the holes would be better placed at the sides but there are where they are as it were. I am pretty sure there is a clock on the oven in the kitchen and of course the BBC news channel on the TV always displays the time if needed. We had a leak on the inlet valve on the downstairs loo recently and are waiting for the affected area to dry out and a suitable gap in the bookings before repainting. We have thought about getting a shower rack for bits and bobs but find these get dirty and rusty very quickly plus people have a tendency to accidentally drop them and that then damages the shower tray hence we are reluctant to put them in. Just for yours and other potential guests information, the glass boards in the kitchen can be used as chopping boards, but also are worktop savers in the hopes people won't put anything hot on the worktops or try to cut anything up on them.
