“Melanie's Cottage was very well equipped and the location absolutely perfect (it's why we chose it!”
). However, the bed was very uncomfortable, pillows totally inadequate and not helped by a winter-weight duvet which, being duck down, was also heavy and over-warm. There was a lighter weight duvet in the bedroom cupboard but it was not packed in a proper bag so I had no idea whether it had been sanitised or not and was therefore not prepared to take the risk at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic is returning. So we went and bought a new, lighter weight duvet from Debenhams. The attitude of the local office staff was very unhelpful, they were not able to provide an alternative nor recognise that we should not have had to spend £35 on an essential item. Sleeping still made difficult though by the bright, yellow, street-type light right outside the bedroom window, which did not have black-out curtains. This has been mentioned in previous comments about this property, but still nothing has been done to address the problem. The one bathroom looks very good with its' walk-in shower - until you try to use the hand held shower and end up with a lake on the bathroom floor, no matter how carefully the shower is used. Kitchen is reasonably well equipped, it was nice to find the thoughtful provision of a hairdryer and tongs in the bedroom. However, there was no plug to the kitchen sink, and the television in the bedroom occupied the dressing table which didn't have a mirror or a chair/stool to sit on (we brought one upstairs from the kitchen). Weymouth and walking miles along the sea front, paddling in Sansfoot bay, was as always wonderful as always. Just so sad that many of the facilities were not functional due to the pandemic restrictions. We will be back, but not to Melanies.
