We spent a wonderful week here to celebrate our Mother's 90th birthday and it could not have been more perfect.

The accommodation itself was spacious and very comfortable, especially the beds. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location and even more so, the beautiful gardens surrounding the Annexe. It was delightful to walk around them early in the morning or last thing at night, just bliss.

Second enjoyable visit to this high quality well designed property.

Peaceful surroundings, easy driving on quiet roads to coast & countryside. Outstanding coastal area with beautiful views, marked walks & lots of quality amenities. Partiularly enjoyed Abbottsbury gardens not least for the shade appreciated in the heatwave.

It really is a beautiful place, everything there you could ever need, and so comfortable and quiet. Thank you for the cakes, tea, biscuits and milk - very generous of you. Our 2 week stay at Middle Farm Annex was 5 star in every way!

Just perfect! What a wonderful property Middle farm is. Spacious, comfortable, clean and with everything you need. Beautiful house and setting among the Dorset countryside but easy to get around being near to the A35. Lovely coast, towns, villages and friendly people. Last but not least the beautiful garden was a joy to sit or wander in. So quiet and peaceful it made our holiday feel very special. We would not hesitate to return and recommend it to others. Beautiful accommodation with stunning views onto the garden.

Lovely comfy beds and huge power showers. We had a lovely welcome pack of milk, biscuits and lots of delicious cakes which were gratefully received. We would have liked more information about the surrounding area with recommendations but otherwise this is a perfect quiet retreat and we couldn’t recommend more highly. Thank you

We loved it here.

It's such a lovely place very modern and equipped with lovely furnishings throughout. The cakes on arrival were a lovely touch and very kind of the owners. The beds were unbelievably comfortable. Your half an hour away from most places but for us this was fine as we went to mostly spend time together as a family and relax. The main room is so big we could fit the 2 travel cots for our twins and still have plenty of space. The shower was probably the best shower I have ever had! Honestly only good things to say about this place. It was a lovely half term.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in this cottage, it’s located in a quiet spot and the night skies are glorious.

Despite the poor October weather, we were warm and cosy inside with a roaring log fire. The cottage was well furnished in keeping with the cottage style and it was well equipped with everything being of a very high quality. We appreciated the generous supply of cakes, biscuits, milk, tea and logs and the cottage had been cleaned to a very high standard. The owner was quick to respond to any queries we had. We enjoyed our stay very much, we have stayed in a variety of cottages in locations over the UK over our 30 year friendship and this is one of the best.

Middle Farm Annex is situated in the village of Long Bredy nestled in beautiful countryside with lovely views.

It is very well appointed with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Very comfortable inside. It does have underfloor heating and that is why I give 4 stars. There is a log burner for the evenings but in the mornings, you do need an ambient temperature and it was quite chilly. We did get in touch with the owner who responded quickly but I don't know what he did as it was still chilly. inside. Luckily, the weather was warm and sunny but if it had been colder, it may be an issue. One of the showers was squirting water out of the top so that couldn't be used. Also the towel rails look as if they were heated ones but weren't on. Overall, it was a lovely place, beautiful gardens with walking from the door and the area is full of local interest to visit.

Middle Farm Annex is a spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped barn conversion, with a beautifully maintained garden.

The rural location, on the southern edge of Long Bredy, is set well back from a quiet country lane. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and we very much appreciated the tea, milk and delicious cakes and biscuits that lasted us all week. We found Long Bredy a good location for exploring the Dorset coast by car, and it is not far from Dorchester and Weymouth on a rainy day.

What a wonderful barn conversion set in stunning gardens.

We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the ample space provided. Its in a small village that is set in lovely countryside but also only 15 minutes from the beach.

My wife and I have been self catering for around 40 years and the Middle Farm Annex and its glorious garden have been amongst the best.

The Annex was very clean and practical and was extremely spacious. We were lucky in that we only had one wet day and so we were able to explore ( and walk) the surrounding areas when the sky was blue and cloudless.. slightly further afield, and musts, were Dorchester, Weymouth , Golden Cap, Cerne Abbas ,Abbotsbury and several other villages, too numerous to mention. Would we return ? Like a shot ( if we decide to return to Dorset !) Gerry

What a fabulous holiday we’ve just had at this cottage.

The gardens are beautiful and, as we happened to hit on the hottest week of the year so far, we were able to enjoy eating outside everyday. The cottage itself is comfortable and has all the equipment you need for your break. The surrounding area is also beautiful with walks from the door and it is so quiet and peaceful just the birds singing. We particularly enjoyed visiting Lyme Regis and doing a bit of fossil hunting/rock pooling along the beach.

This is our second trip to Middle Farm Annex & the experience was just as good as last time.

The accommodation was great with milk, cake & biscuits left for us on are arrival. If you want a nice week away where it’s quiet & idilic surroundings well this is the place to go.

Certainly one of the best of many that I have visited over the years.

The property is very spacious and well presented.

A small welcome pack ensured we could have tea and cake before emptying the cars. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking with good quality pots and pans. Although we visited in winter we were aware of a very well looked after garden with plenty of space for games and outside dining. The owner was available by phone or email for any issues.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Middle Farm Annex – it was perfect for our requirements.

We needed accommodations on one level suitable for our elderly parents (90th Birthday). The Annex is just that and was immaculately clean and so comfortable. We were welcomed with cake, milk and tea – just what we needed after a long car journey, it was a chilly time of year and the heating was on for our arrival and plenty of wood for the stove. We needed help with a plumbing issue, and it was dealt with very promptly. The grounds are beautiful and very conveniently close to the Jurassic Coast. A beautiful spot and we highly recommend it.

We have stayed at several properties over the years and this is the best one so far.

This is holiday accommodation of a very high standard, and more than worthy of Sykes 5 star rating.

Very spacious rooms and furnished to a high standard, very comfy beds. The rural location provides a warm and inviting backdrop and the no hassel free parking is a welcome bonus. The welcome pack was a well recieved. Overall we had a lovely time and would happily recommend, excellent communication from the owner; only one minor niggle though, more matching cutlery required.

Very comfortable it really doesn’t matter about the weather! Shame we didn’t get to use the beautiful garden this time as early July wasn’t kind to us with the weather but we managed to still get out and about. Beautiful detail with the home furnishings, good quality towels and bedding and we were greeted with Dorset Tea and a selection of cakes

Spent very pleasant week in lovely area.

Immediate area is quiet and rural with lots of interesting features. Accommodation is of high quality throughout, and has been supplied with everything of very high quality and style. Whole farm site impressive and very well maintained. Outstanding.

This property was first class in every aspect including the gardens which were accessible to us.

Lovely comfortable property with an exceptionally beautiful garden.

Loved the bedrooms at either end, as my friend and I could disappear off each to our own end of the property for a quiet end to a lovely day together exploring and walking the local countryside. Plenty to do and see locally without travelling miles. No complaints, just a suggestion to help….2 keys would have made opening the front door and the patio door a little easier.

Beautiful holiday cottage with an amazing garden to enjoy.

The photos don’t do it justice. Nothing in the village so you just have to remember to get things in advance. Very comfortable with everything you needed. We knew beforehand that some people had commented on how close the owners house was but it really wasn’t a problem for us. If you want a bit of tranquility on your holiday then this will suit you.

This property is absolutely stunning, everything has been thought through for the comfort of the holiday maker.

The welcome pack a perfect touch to ensure we started our holiday in the right manner. We had a couple of tiny issues which the owner sorted with 2 hours who could ask for more. Would definitely rent this property again. 5 star ⭐️

The cottage is exactly as described.

It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, well equipped and felt like home the moment you walked through the door. Apart from a few light bulbs deciding that it was time to give up, we had no problems. The showers are amazing and beds comfortable. The cottage is in the most glorious spot , we loved going in and out through Little Bredy. Very convenient as a base to see Dorset. We had originally planned to visit before COVID, and we all agreed it was worth the wait. I could happily live there!

Very relaxing and enjoyable stay

We enjoyed our stay in this beautifully appointed property and would recommend it.

The great attraction for us was that everything inside is on the flat, there being no steps, stairs or thresholds to worry about. We have made booking through Sykes Cottages before and will certainly do so again. They are very efficient and helpful.

Mixed feelings about this property beautiful garden setting lovely anex but not maintained well, the shower is the best we have been in,the anex was very clean, but the light switches are a joke some do nothing some work sometimes some I have no idea what they do.

The heating packed up 2 days before the end of our holiday and though we had a log burner the bedroom and bathroom were freezing. The owner never even sent us an email apology for this.It was still not working when we left.His gardener did try to help but could do nothing. From other feedback this heating problem is not rare.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in, cosy with the log burner and a good supply of logs.

It was well equipped and comfortable beds. Overall we had and excellent week with our friends walking even with a covering of snow. The cakes and biscuits were a nice touch. We had a couple of blips with the power going off and the hot water stopping but a phone call to the owner sorted it quickly.

We had a fantastic stay at Middle Farm Annexe.

It is a charming property and was perfect for our needs. The welcome pack was much appreciated after a very long drive! The property itself is comfortable and the kitchen covered all the essentials. The bathrooms were also clean and luxurious - the children loved the bath tub in particular! The garden is spectacular and worth the price alone. My children (3 & 6) spent hours playing and exploring: The location is beautiful and rural which was exactly what we wanted but be aware that the roads are typical country roads with some tight bends and narrow points. This was an education for my husband who is used to city driving. The property is in easy driving distance from Lyme Regis in one direction and Weymouth in the other. We travelled as far as Corfe Castle and Swanage in around 45 minutes. We highly recommend this lovely cottage and are planning on booking again for next summer.

Beautiful barn conversion.

Spacious and excellently furnished. Very comfortable beds, great showers and a well equipped kitchen. Although the weather was cold and rainy the barn was lovely and warm especially with the log burner in the evening when relaxing after visiting the many lovely places within easy reach. Awaiting us on arrival was a very generous welcome hamper, loved the Apple Cake and Dorset Tea! We highly recommend the Annex for a superb stay.

This is an excellent property to stay at, it is comfortable, clean, with everything you could require.

The location is, it is very easy to travel the area from the property. Two down points I wish to share though, the weather did turn very cold during our stay, and the underfloor heating did not provide a comfortable temperature, but there is a log burner which was a lifesaver. The second point was that the internet dropped off about 36 hours before the end of our stay, and did not reconnect before we left. But overall we enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend to others, and consider this property if visiting the area again.

If you want to see the Dorset countryside and coast, then this is an excellent location, close to Dorchester, Weymouth and Bridport and all the lovely smaller villages. Great welcome pack and lovely gardens to make it even better.

Very comfortable property, although a little isolated.

The facilities and furnishings were of a very high standard. The garden is beautiful. The village location is pretty. The towns of Bridport and Dorchester are within a 15 minute drive. Weymouth and Lyme Regis are 30 minutes by car.

Middle Farm Annex was an exceptional experience.

The location and the accommodation was gorgeous. The gardens where magnificent and on visiting Mapperton Gardens the gardens although not on the same scale the gardens and plantings at Middle Farm certainly outdid Mapperton. Will hope to return in 2023. Sue Cooper

Lovely barn with some very nice features.

Very overlooked from the main house and window blind in toilet and bathroom needed to be closed most of the time. Toggle switches were a nightmare and one of the velux windows didn't work. Shortage of glasses and no champagne flutes (a must when on holiday). Lengthy list of do's and don'ts and a 09.00am departure (and we had to strip all beds) was so very early and not being able to leave dishes in the dishwasher was a big ask.

We really enjoyed coming back at the end of each day to this excellent barn - which was peaceful spacious and provided everything that we needed and more in terms of privacy and relaxation.

We were able to ring the owner as, due to the hot weather, we needed a parasol which was provided. What could be improved? - well perhaps some cushions for the seating outside.

Really enjoyed our holiday in The Annex.

The property was spacious and comfortable and it was obvious the design was well thought out. The pebble flooring in the generously proportioned en-suite shower reminded us we were near the sea! We were amused by the numerous toggle light switches - got the hang of these by the time we left! The location was great for visiting lots of interesting places - The Water Gardens near Dorchester were amazing with cream tea scones to die for! Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens, The Swannery and Athlehampton House and Gardens should not be missed. Durdle Door is beautiful if you can manage the steps down to the beach. So many other places to see - we had 2 weeks and so will return to the area hopefully to go to the places we didn't have time to visit. I only have one negative comment - we have used many holiday properties over the year and have always appreciated the welcome - often a homemade cake or some local fare. The welcome at the Annex was just a few teabags in a Tupperware pot - a bit 'underwhelming'. Even a shop bought Dorset Apple Cake would have been nice.

A beautiful place to stay, the gardens and outside space was stunning.

Just a few minor things that would have enhanced our stay: More crockery and cutlery so we will didn't have to wash up/dishwasher between meals. Oven gloves would have been useful Garden parasol for shade to sit under.

We had a lovely stay at the annexe of Middle Farm.

We visited in April and were blessed with fantastic weather. It is situated at the edge of Long Bredy village, surrounded by fields and in close proximity of beaches. Lots of footpaths nearby if you want to a local walk. And there is a lovely lake in Little Bredy a few miles away. The annexe is decorated to a very high standard, and the 2 spacious walk-in showers were a highlight. It was warm and the lovely log-burner is a bonus if needed. The garden was huge and perfect for our 2 young children to run around in. There is also a patio area and table for eating/ drinking outside. The local area was wonderful, and we were not short of things to do - eg Abbotsbury swannery, Hive beach, Lulworth Cove and Charmouth beach. Would love to stay again!

Middle Farm Annex is a delightful venue, it has been extremely well converted and equipped with high quality furnishings.

As previous reviews have said it is overlooked by the main house but this is not really a problem except in the loo where frosted glass would make it less disconcerting (it is possible to get frosted stick on panels for windows!). Our real problem was that we did not feel very welcome - a somewhat didactic list of instructions (Do Not visit the main house was one) and a small quantity of tea bags as the only 'welcome' offering was underwhelming. That said the location is ideal and we enjoyed our week.

Beautifully appointed cottage (barn) with very high-spec fittings.

Was lovely and warm and comfortable. Could do with a foot stool or coffee table in between the sofas - so you can put your feet up!

Spotlessly clean very comfortable accommodation.

For anyone wanting a very quiet away from it all holiday this is the place to stay. Huge garden. There are no shops in the vicinity so take all you need with you. Unlike other barn conversions I've stayed in the owner supplies all the logs you need for the wood burner. Lovely property.

Middle Farm Annexe is a beautiful barn conversion set within breathtaking countryside.

The house is perfectly located within easy reach of many places of interest and a number of the counties' beautiful beaches. The barn has been sympathetically renovated to an extremely high standard, is well equipped and features all the modern conveniences that allow for a comfortable stay for all the family. The rooms are spacious and clean, beautifully decorated (the gigantic shower off the master bedroom is nothing short of impressive!), and we enjoyed nothing more than settling in front of the log burner after a day out exploring. Long Bredy is a picturesque village, perfect for walkers and those who appreciate an off-the-beaten-track setting. Dorchester and Bridport are both a short drive away, providing the opportunity to stock up on provisions, and there are a number of well established local pubs and eateries also a short distance by car. We stayed for the week over (a wet!) Christmas, and enjoyed memorable days out to Lyme Regis, West Bay and Burton Bradstock. The house was a lovely place to come back to each evening and Middle Farm Annexe proved to be a real home-from-home for our family.

This is a beautiful barn conversion with good quality fittings and fixtures.

Lots of cookware - though a larger frying pan would be useful. Good position for travel around Dorset. Really enjoyed our time there and the lovely wood burner! Slight problem with one of the bathrooms but owner sorted it quickly. One side is overlooked but we just pulled the curtains - maybe more awkward to do that in the summer though. But not a deal breaker! A lovely place to stay.

The annex is fitted out to a very high standard, excellent woodburner with plenty of wood, everything needed was there.

Pub 2 miles away, good centre for sea walks and exploring. Owner responds to requests promptly.

Fantastic cottage with everything you would need in great condition.

Lovely location with lots of areas of interest. To prevent any confusion for deliveries of food etc, it may be useful to have a little sign showing where the annex is. The directions from the owner to us was spot on but we had a food delivery and the driver went to the wrong location e.g. left order on doorstep of the farm. Instructions for the cooker would also be useful as knowing which dials heated which section was a challenge at first. Perfect holiday

I didn’t realise when booking how the annexe would be so overlooked.

The annexe is in a quadrangle therefore overlooked by the main house, into the main living room and the main bedroom. The smaller bedroom, bathroom/shower rooms were also overlooked. We had to have the blinds down all day in the bathroom and toilet rooms. Having said that the annexe was nice and comfy with everything you would need during the stay. My grandsons loved running around the garden. Very handy place to be as able to visit many areas of the Jurassic coast and not far from Weymouth either.

This cottage was wonderful, it was very well equipped and we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.

It was a fantastic location for exploring the coast, but we enjoyed a few days spent in the cottage and garden too. The garden was beautiful and our children loved having the space to run around and play safely. We had a very relaxing week and were made to feel very welcome, the home grown fruit and vegetables we were given were delicious, thank you! We would love to be able to return next summer.

Middle Farm Annex was perfect for my family and certainly lived up to its description and our expectations.

Wonderful setting, quiet and peaceful, easy access to all the attractions, beaches, villages and towns. Not the cheapest, but then again you get what you pay for. We certainly felt it was worth the price. The annex is well fitted out, spacious, and furniture and fittings were of really good quality. Everything is kept clean and tidy. The courtyard area and garden surrounding the Annex is beautiful and it was a joy to return to this wonderful property at the end of each day out.

A luxuriously appointed self contained Annex set in extensive landscaped gardens amidst the rolling hills of rural West Dorset.

The beautiful scenery, quant Dorset villages and proximity to the sea makes this a real gem. Highly recommended.

We knew that the cottage was part of Middle Farm, but didn't realise how overlooked we would feel with French windows facing the owners part of the property in both the main bedroom and living room.

The hot water arrangements were awkward with us having to remember to turn on the boiler to have any hot water in the evening. There was only the bare minimum of crockery and cutlery meaning we had to run the dishwasher frequently.

Great location, perfect for doing nothing or getting out to explore the wonderful countryside, Chesil Beach and more walks you can shake a stick at.

The annexe was very comfortable, finished to a very high standard and warm with the wood burner and an unlimited wood supply.

Folk were very helpful and it was easy to get to places with the very small village not being that far from the main Dorchester to Bridport road. It was very quiet and a lovely welcoming home to return to after being out and highly recommended.

The house is lovely, and the garden, especially, is beautiful.

The house is tastefully appointed , and the garden (which is an acre in size?) was full of flowers, in bloom even in late September. During Covid season, we did not wish to visit anything indoors. There are 3 gardens nearby which are superb: Kingston Lacey, Mapperton and Abbotsbury. We enjoyed the many beaches nearby, and at Hive Beach Cafe, we could eat in a big tent. The food was very fresh, and it was not exactly indoors. We would have followed the Jurassic Coast walk but did not have time. We would have loved to see Durdle Door, but that was a bit too far. There were only two in our party, so we used one of the bedrooms (and one of the bathrooms) only. The lounge is spacious, and would have been fine for a party of four. We had sole use of the big patio, which lead to the rest of the garden. It was peaceful and secluded, and we had a talk with the gardener.

I would tell people about Middlefarm Annexe but advise them not to book through any of the Sykes companies during the coronavirus uncertainty.

They take your money and do not respond to emails or calls. A very poor customer service. We had originally booked in Jan for a May holiday and as we went into lockdown in March they carried on as If all was normal and took our full balance of £ 800.00 even though we were unable to go. As I was not certain we would get our money back we changed our booking to September and did have a good time at the cottage. We did have a few issues with the house which the owner endeavoured to rectify.

Well equipped kitchen with everything we could possibly need. Bed was really comfortable and en-suite shower was wonderful. French doors led out onto a large patio where we sat and ate our meals in seclusion in the sun. Although there was not much in close proximity to the property, the A35 was just up a couple of country lanes so we were easily able to drive to Lullworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth and Lyme Regis plus the vast amount of beaches and country and coastal walks. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Middle Farm Annex in Long Bredy is a fantastic cottage in a great setting.

Great facilities that allowed us to relax when we chose to stay in for the day and also acted as a great base to go on day trips during our week’s stay. Would definitely stay again and happily recommend this as a place to stay.

This is our 2nd stay at the Annexe so that tells you that this is a great place.

The gardens are absolutely stunning and so too are the views. Its a great location as its just a couple of minutes from the A35 so can get to most places easily. Close by are some lovely places Little Bredy and chesil beach are both lovely. I highly recommend this Annexe its so comfortable and the space especially if you have kids is great.

What a fabulous holiday home- very comfortable, well equipped, in a beautiful location- all round excellent.

We stayed for a week over New Year- this really was a home from home. Everything was excellent standard, comfy bed, bath ( important as my husband has a bad back and needs a daily hot bath), lovely log burner and kitchen with all we needed. We will definitely look to stay here again. You do need a torch of an evening to get from your car to the front door- this was provided by the owner- so not an issue.

This is an excellent holiday let.

Lovely space and excellent rooms. There are plenty of logs for lighting the wood burner every day. Unlike most holiday cottages lets, where you only get one basket of logs included and have to pay for more, here there is no extra charge no matter how many you use. The owner is very welcoming and happy to help if needed. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Immaculate accommodation, in a peaceful surrounding village and perfect location for amazing walks.

The owner was very helpful and recommended some great places to eat and local areas to visit, which were all outstanding. Will definitely be returning. We visited Lyme Regis, West Bay, Abbotsbury, Lulworth cove and Durdle Door, Charmouth, Seatown and Portland Bill.

This property has been converted to a very high standard.

The fixtures and fittings were excellent and all the equipment -i.e. cutlery and crockery matched!!

Excellent accommodation, had all the facilities expected and much more.

Beautiful garden area, nice and peaceful, well equipped and beautifully furnished . Enjoyed visits to Abbotsbury Swannery, Montacute House, Lyme Regis and Hive Beach. Had a lovely meal at the White Horse Inn and also in Lyme Regis. Would find it useful to have more instructions on the wood burner. Useful to have WiFi as I was unable to get a phone signal. Would book again if coming back to Dorset

Middle Farm Annex is a lovely property in a secluded position with lovely gardens.

Just a few minutes from the main A35 we found it an ideal base for exploring from. The owner was available and extremely pleasant and helpful. A property we would definitely be looking to use again when next visiting Dorset.

Wonderful.

Simply wonderful. The outdoor space is amazing too. Internally the space is great as are the views. It's very clean and cosy and has everything needed for a trip. Great showers, as is the tum me dryer a real bonus when you are staying for more than a few days and with kids. Would highly recommend and if back in Dorset will be back. Definitely the best place we have stayed and we have stayed in a few.

We feel that the biggest help you could give would be to create a list of perhaps ten local things of interest.

We hadn't got a clue where anything was and kept travelling out to Weymouth and Dorchester not realising we were only a few minutes away from a local beach and local pub. Having said this, we would still book again for a return visit, can not fault the place.

All furniture & equipment was of a very good standard.

The bathrooms with excellent showers and the magnificent garden were also stand outs.Small negatives:an iron & board would be handy and a larger screen main TV would have been nice.This was our first visit to Dorset and we picked a great location right away!

Delightful cottage in beautiful location, owner was very welcoming making us feel right at home.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for place to stay in heart of Jurassic coast, just a short drive to local beaches and other attractions.
