“The property has had flooding of some kind and the twin bedroom is musty.”

The mattresses in this room are ancient, dirty and very uncomfortable. We nearly asked Sykes to move us but they bought a mattress from home. Then made it uncomfortable by adding two lumpy mattress pads on top of it. The oven doesn't work properly and the place needs a good clean and upgrade. The furniture and fittings are cheap. Most of the cook ware needs replacing as it's old and damaged. The curtains are so thin we were awake at 4am each day. Not a very restful stay at all. The ...

Most of the cook ware needs replacing as it's old and damaged. The curtains are so thin we were awake at 4am each day. Not a very restful stay at all. The floor is broken and undulates. The front door sticks and the back door handle gets stuck each morning from the humidity. Nothing drains properly.

This is in our view a complete misrepresentation of the facts. The cottage was inspected by a Dream Cottage representative early this year and everything was deemed to be in good order. The bedroom furniture is only one year old and is handcrafted in solid oak in a traditional style. The kitchen and appliances are only a few years old. As I had to help you with the WiFi I could have also helped you to use the oven. You found one pot with some marks on the base and I am sorry about that. The remainder are in good working order. I am also sorry that by moving the double sofa from the wall you found some cracked tiles, and as they are behind and under the furniture this should not have affected your use of the area. The floor tiles are ceramic in a terracotta style and not undulated. We changed the single mattress with our spare as you did not find that mattress comfortable, but we did not put 2 toppers on it. I asked you to get back to me if you still found it uncomfortable, but as you did not , I assumed all was well. I will not go into each and every complaint as again we feel they are unjustified. It is not our policy to provide refunds for guests that have not discussed their reasons during their stay and continued their holiday and requested a late check out. We believe , by the photos you sent ,that trying to get a refund was your intention from arrival. It is a shame you did not enjoy your stay overlooking the sea in what was glorious weather. The property

Mimosa Cottage located in the Dorset Coastal village of West Bexington, has wonderful views of the World Heritage site Jurassic Coast as well as the rolling hills and patchwork fields of West Dorset.

The cottage is a part of a complex of three holiday cottages with gardens surrounding them all.

Mimosa Cottage is an ideal holiday home for a disabled person and carer and is very well laid out.

It is equally good for any able-bodied family or couple. Guests staying at Mimosa will benefit from wheelchair friendly accommodation with spacious rooms all on one level, including an accessible wet room, conservatory and separate chill out room.

A patio area with tables and chairs is the perfect place to enjoy an alfresco lunch in the sunshine whilst surveying the wonderful views.

Surrounding Mimosa are gardens for you to explore, pockets of lawn are interspersed with paths and an orchard.

You are more than welcome to help yourself to apples and pears in the season.

Take a short walk across the field and you will reach Chesil Beach.

Admire thousands of wintering birds on the Fleet or spot usual Dorset wildlife through binoculars.

If you are ready for more energetic walks, you can head to the beautiful village of Abbotsbury situated a few miles towards the Isle of Portland.

Abbotsbury’s Abbey and Mute Swans Sanctuary & Sub-tropical gardens will make a great day out for everyone in the party to enjoy from children to elderly. A little tea room is within walking distance from the cottage following the path across the field, ideal for a cup of tea after a hearty walk.

There is a farm shop nearby, a supermarket and many other shops are a short drive away in Bridport. Mimosa is the perfect location to relax off the beaten track to the sounds of birds rather than sitting in traffic. Come and enjoy time away from your busy life at Mimosa Cottage.

About the location

WEST BEXINGTON

Abbotsbury 3 miles; Bridport 6 miles.

Lying next to the sea and Chesil Beach, equidistant between Burton Bradstock and Abbotsbury, is the small village of West Bexington. This is a stunning area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an area of Special Scientific Interest - pebbled Chesil Beach, which extends for 14 miles, from Burton Bradstock to the Portland peninsula, is part of the Jurassic Coast and now a World Heritage Site. Fishermen and walkers are well provided for, as a great variety of fish can be caught at any time of year, and the South West Coastal Path runs right alongside the beach. Only confident swimmers should attept to swim here, but Weymouth, offering lovely, gently shelving sands, is only a short drive away. There's lots to see and do within easy reach of the village. No journey to this area would be complete without a visit to picturesque Abbotsbury, 3 miles, with its Swannery, Tithe Barn and Sub Tropical Gardens, with Dorchester, Bridport, and Lyme Regis all within easy reach.
