“We spent a thoroughly relaxing fortnight during August/September at this splendid cottage that has been tastefully converted.”

It is well equipped and furnished to a high standard and is light and airy for a small cottage. The high ceilings and large windows at the front add to this effect. It is also very well maintained. The garden that is accessed round the rear of The Old Malthouse and is the main entrance to the cottage is pleasant and spacious and also very peaceful. ...

We had our golden retriever with us and were fortunate to have good weather throughout our stay. If he had needed to be washed (which he didn’t) before going indoors there was a tap available on the Malthouse building although a hose and adapter would be needed. The walks directly from the cottage are numerous and those particularly towards the coastal path are a treat with glorious scenery in every direction. We holiday in Purbeck regularly and have done for many years. It never fails to deliver. We can certainly recommend this cottage for a happy vacation. Nick & Caroline, Suffolk

The property

Sea Pink Cottage is a charming single-storey Purbeck Stone cottage, resting in the idyllic and picturesque village of Langton Matravers, just 2 miles from the seaside town of Swanage.

Serving as a wonderful base for a couple to enjoy a romantic and tranquil escape, this newly refurbished property is a few moments from the popular “Kings Arms” public house and a local shop where you can pick up daily essentials, along with the majestic Jurassic coast where sandy beaches and hidden coves await.

Step inside and kick off your walking boots in the entrance hallway, before finding the bright and airy open-plan living space, presented to a lovely standard with a wall-mounted TV and electric fire, perfect for those cosy nights in.

Take a seat at the breakfast bar and keep your partner company whilst they rustle up a delicious feast, making use of the electric oven and gas hob, microwave and even a washing machine, which is sure to come in handy after a muddy walk!

As you tire, whisk away to the bedroom, fit with a sumptuous king-size bed and a refreshing colour scheme, where a travel cot can also be available should you be bringing your little one with you.

There is also an en-suite shower room where you can prepare for the day with a quick rinse, and end each day in style with your favourite drink within the garden, resting at the bench or picnic table, soaking up the good weather.

From the door there is a multitude of local walks to discover including the Priests Way, which leads you along an ancient track passing between quarries and across fields, with spectacular countryside views.

The town of Swanage can be reached in just over 2 miles and is home to the historic Swanage Railway where you can take a step back in time and enjoy a trip through the stunning Purbeck Hills, offering views of the iconic remains of William The Conqueror’s Corfe Castle.

The sandy beach is one of the main attractions of the town and the waters here are tranquil and sheltered, with the beach winning many Blue Flag Awards, as well as the Seaside Award.

Deck chairs are available for hire, as are pedalos, kayaks and sun beds, and the attractive promenade is lined with plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or sit down to a gourmet meal of freshly caught fish dishes.

About the location

LANGTON MATRAVERS

Swanage 2.6 miles; Wareham 8.2 miles.

The quaint village of Langton Matravers lies on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, two miles west of Swanage and 5 miles south-east of Corfe Castle. The name Langton derives from ‘long town’ and Matravers stems from the name of the Lord who once resided there. Langton Matravers Museum showcases the local history of the town, providing a complete picture of the ways in which the local stone was quarried and used. The surrounding area is very popular for walking and a number of walking trails pass through the village, including the ‘Smugglers Way’ which begins at Worth Matravers and then travels down to the coast path and back again to visit where smugglers were known to bring their goods ashore. The village is also home to a refreshment shop and a traditional village pub which hosts an annual Stone Carving and Pumpkin Festival. Resting on the outside of the village is Dancing Ledge, an old cliff quarry which offers breath-taking views of the coast. Those who are looking for adventure can even climb the rock face or coasteer at the Ledge.
