Situated on the World Heritage Coast in Dorset, at The Tides you can enjoy living like an Olympian!  The Tides was built to house a Sailing team during the 2012 Olympics.  Situated on The Officer's Field, on the Isle of Portland, this holiday cottage is perfectly located to take advantage of many pursuits available in the area.  Portland is a great location for walking - you can follow the South West Coastal path all around the isle, or venture into the water for snorkelling, scuba diving or sailing - the national sailing academy is just a few minutes away.  Venturing away from the immediate surroundings, Weymouth's town centre and main beach are just minutes away by car or there is a frequent local bus service. The beach has arguably the best sand in the South West for sandcastles and the family orientated attractions include donkey rides, kiosks and sand sculptures.  However you spend your time whilst staying at The Tides, when you return at the end of a busy day it is the perfect atmosphere to enjoy time together with your fellow guests; the large open plan living area on the ground floor is the perfect gathering place as you are able to cook, eat and relax in comfort together.   The Tides is an ideal choice for guests who would like to stay in a contemporary and stylish holiday home, close to the gems available on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.

Mrs S Molla
We had an amazing stay at The Tides. It is not a dream cottage, is a cottage from heaven. I must say the photos on the website does not do it justice. the sense of space is much greater when you are in and for the whole stay I just couldn't stop saying waw. It is a high spec house with great finishes and all the comfort. It just makes you to not even go out or care if there is bad weather, you would just be happy to stay in and enjoy the house. My favs has to be the feather duvet and mattress topper :-))))) Stayed September 2016

About the Location

Portland is a wonderful holiday destination. It offers arguably the best sailing and windsurfing waters in the world, an abundance of rare wildlife since Portland is a major migrating point for birds, miles of stunning coastal walks, great fishing trips straight from Portland Marina, beautiful beaches, some of which are dog friendly all year around, fantastic pubs and some of the best cream teas in Dorset.

Meander through the pretty villages filled with old stone cottages, cobbled streets, traditional shops and cafes and stop for cream tea and lashings of luscious cake. The main village of Portland is Easton, which sits on the plateau. Then there is Fortuneswell, which lies on a steep hill and was described by Thomas Hardy as being ‘houses above houses, one man’s doorstep rising behind his neighbour’s chimney’. Southwell is another charming village, filled with quaint quarrymen cottages and a village pub in the heart of the village. Park here to access the glorious cliff walks along the South West Coastal Path.
