Rowdens Barn

This was our second holiday staying in Rowdens Barn and we were very happy with our accommodation.

The Hedge End Farm Cottages are ideally situated for visiting the many interesting historical towns in Dorset as well as the coast at Swanage and Lulworth etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the area.

Rowdens barn lovely comfortable accommodation with everything provided you could ever need.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in future. Very dog friendly which helps when travelling with our beloved dogs, would highly recommend. Garden areas well maintained all in all a credit to the owners and managing staff.

It was perfect accomadation in a perfect location for the two of us and the dog.

The extra touches just qmqafe it for us. We will be very happy to visit again in the future.

Property is excellant, has all you need for a restful break.

It was a wow factor from the moment we walked in the door, it felt very homely and comfortable, the enclosed garden area was perfect for our 2 dogs,we will definitely be returning in the dryer months, it was the weather that let us down!

Highly recommend to stay there.

We return to Rowdens barn a few times a year to visit family locally.

We love it and it’s always clean and comfortable. It’s very well equipped and spacious too. We love the log burner in the winter months.

We've stayed in Rowdens Barn a few times and it never disappoints.

The cottage is warm, spacious and comfortable with a secure, enclosed garden for our dog. The surrounding countryside is beautiful whatever the season and is a short drive from towns and villages.

A real home from home - only our 2nd visit and the dog rushed to the right gate and door!

Thank you for essential biscuits and milk! I think Rowdens will always be a special stay, and I have already recommended to a friend who stayed in the Corner Barn the week before our stay. Outstanding in every way - I'm sure we'll be back!

I had a strong feeling that the owner wanted the guests to have a good time and was not focused on just making money.

The place was spotless, spacious and well equipped - such a different atmosphere to some places. So refreshing. I would definitely book again. Beautiful area too.

Lovely barn in a great location to explore Dorset.

Very comfortable and clean , it had everything that we needed. Great walks from the door, which was perfect for walking our dog. The garden was very dog friendly & secure . Great games room. We would certainly book again and recommend to family & friends.

Stunning place and ideal location for sight seeing Kids loved it and the games room next door And ideal for our puppy with the fenced off garden 100% will come back again x

Great stay, very spaciius and very quiet , perfect for a mini break

Great little cottage, well equipped for kids with the games room a massive hit.

We had an amazing time at Howdens Barn, it was very well equipped with everything we needed.

We would definitely return and recommend to anyone thinking of staying here. The games room was a bonus and we played in there both nights we were there. We stayed in the barn whilst there was a heatwave so one suggestion would be to possibly have fans available as it was very hot!!.

This was a beautiful, well kept property with an enclosed, dog friendly garden.

Comfortable and clean. Highly recommended. We will visit again for sure!

Well maintained and very clean property.

Well situated for visiting areas of Dorset and beyond. Quite location with lovely outdoor seating area.

This was our third time staying at Rowdens Barn and we’ve booked a winter break there too.

The barn is beautifully preserved with all the facilities you need for your stay. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is clean and soft. The kitchen is well equipped and the private patio area is great for alfresco living and four legged friends. The games room next door is an added bonus. All in all a cracking place to stay and we will just keep coming back!

We loved our stay at rowdens barn!

Had everything we needed and more including a good highchair and travel cot for my baby. Comfy beds and lovely outside area. Lovely and clean too! Brilliant location to explore Dorset and a Tescos 5 min-ish drive to get food for the cottage! We would love to stay again as we try and come to Dorset every year! We will recommend to family and friends! Thanks so much!

Accommodation was clean, comfortable, great garden area for sitting outside & secure for our two dogs to run up & down in.

Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped, lovely spacious barn conversion & beautiful area. Will be booking this accommodation again.

Way exceeded expectations - and we thought it was a new conversion everything was so pristine!

The speed the owner responded with an argumentative tap was impressive. Only slight disappointment, seems dog owners have to be reminded to clear up their "deposits" on the bridleway as it has been years since we have seen such a huge amount of poo on a footpath! Some of which ended up on our shoes. We mentioned this to one of the other "residents" who bizarrely said he didn't walk his dog up the path first thing, but along the road. Hate to say it, I think some of the holidaymakers will be responsible. Shame. Overall we had a wonderful stay, lots to do and see, and helpful stack of leaflets and info in the sideboard, not to mention board games and jigsaws. The enclosed garden was great for the dog - an ideal place for her! I'd suggest all dog owners make sure they take loads of covers and throws.

Great place for a family of 4 and great location for exploring Dorset.

Beautifully presented property.

Well equipped.

We had a problem.with the TV which leads us to suggest putting a coaxial splitter so guests can screw into the splitter with their own electronic equipment to avoid damaging the connection at the rear of the TV. Very comfortable, liked that we could have used the log burner but it wasn't that cold during our stay. We will definitely stay again ,would like to stay in a different unit. It's ideally situated for where we needed to be in Dorset. Would recommend.

Everything was perfect.

Excellent facilities with good information and instructions.

Fabulous cottage quite very centralised with good access to local shops lovely stay

Lovely property well equipped.

In the evening it is really quiet

Great cottage, with a secure garden.

The barn was absolutely beautiful.

A wonderful setting and very well maintained. Thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here.

We had such a cosy warm stay with everything we needed in the barn.

This was our second visit to Rowdens Barn and we enjoyed our stay every bit as much as the first time.

All the properties are lovely and quiet. The cleanliness and facilities are excellent. We love the thoughtful additions that are left like milk and biscuits plus on this occasion we even had a lovely Christmas tree on our arrival. Absolutely first class stay again and highly recommended. We will be back very soon.

This was our 4th visit so we love staying there.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable with everything we might need supplied. The garden is safe and secure for our dog. There's many countryside and woodland walks from the door and nearby with towns and shopping within a short drive We'll be booking our next stay soon!

Well maintained property, very clean, central to all places we were visiting, only draw back was bed was very hard.

Would recommend staying at this property

Great provision of necessities provided for a relaxing holiday.

We were very comfortable. Our only concern was the bath/shower. It was slippery as the bath is narrow. Apart from that it was wonderful. I’ve already told my sister about it for the future. Thanks

Lovely property and everything supplied that is needed.

A lovely touch that on arrival they had left us a pint of milk and biscuits

Our summer stay at Rowdens barn was all we expected are more.

Lovely lay out and so well equipped. The secure garden was perfect for our pup to play in. The play barn is even better in real life. Lovely communal area between the cottages. My highlight of the property was lighting the log fire of an evening, the cottage had everything we needed to get a fire started well. Looking forward to our next visit here.

A beautiful barn conversion, everything top quality.

It was a lovely base for our holiday in a stunning part of the country- would love to return .Only one snag- the bridle path opposite the property ,which supposedly leads to woods where we could exercise our dog, was totally overgrown with weeds & brambles.completely inaccessible

Very comfortable accomodation with plenty of equipment and very well furnished, It was like home from home.

The location is good for exploring Dorset and is very peaceful and quiet. My mother and I had a lovely stay and I would definitely recommend it for a relaxing break. We visited Weymouth, west bay, Portland and Swanage. Very pretty local villages and some excellent pubs within a short drive.

Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Small, totally secure garden for the dog. Excellently situated for touring Dorset.

Excellent holiday rental .

Not far from beach . But far enough away from all main holiday resorts and noise. If looking for a quiet holiday then this is the place to stay . This is our second time staying at this property and still a fantastic place to stay everything you need

I have nothing but good things to say about Rowdens Barn.

The property was spacious, clean, tidy and well equipped. The owners had even left tea, coffee, sugar, milk and cookies for their guests which was a lovely touch. There are board games for guests and an astonishing assortment of DVD’s also available in the television unit. WiFi is free, very fast and great coverage. The property also has a fully enclosed and secure garden and patio area, so perfect for keeping youngsters safe and dog lovers who have their pets with them. We were very comfortable and relaxed during our stay and can highly recommend Rowdens Barn. We are already looking at dates for our next visit. Definitely 5 stars!!

Such a wonderful place.

My partner and I loved it.

We had a lovely stay at Rowdens Barn last week, it's well equipped and comfy, really good size rooms too.

Generally very clean, but the base of the toilet was very dusty and cobwebs in the bathroom too. The second bedroom could benefit from a blackout blind or curtains, as we stayed with little ones, i had to use a couple of towels at bedtime to block out the light. Lots of places to visit locally, steam train to Swanage, peppa pig world, the tank museum, monkey world and Longleat Safari Park! Also some lovely local pubs close by too! Overall we had a really good stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were very impressed with the accommodation.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others

Such a lovely clean, comfortable and very well equipped cottage.

Quartz kitchen worktop, German appliances, comfortable king size bed, log burner, private garden space for dog, parking right outside, no stairs and large games room with air hockey, table tennis and pool table. Great location with plenty of good walks on doorstep. Lots to see locally including brewery and just 30 mins drive to Durdle Door.

Outstanding development, really nicely done to a very high standard.

Superbly equipped, so refreshing not to have the usual '4 of everything'. Very comfortable bed, love the log burner. We could quite happily live there!

Our 2nd stay at Rowdens Barn.

Very comfortable cottage with an enclosed garden for our dog. We enjoyed lovely walks in the woods opposite where it was safe to let our dog run free. She had a great time! Lots of places to visit within 30 minutes drive. No fireworks to be heard which is a bonus. We're already planning to book for next year.

Rural location but not too far from Blandford.

The various accommodations on this site all well equipped, clean and good off road parking is available. Beds are comfy and Wi-Fi is mostly good. On this basis I would recommend accommodation to others, particularly dog owners as each accommodation has its own fenced off private garden

Lovely cottage with good facilities.

Games room was brilliant. Ideal base to explore the area. Could have been cleaner- kitchen cupboards had a large spill down. Had to wash some mugs before we could use. Large cobwebs- aware its rural but these had not appeared overnight and place needed a good wall/cleaning dust, Bathroom extractor full of dust. A full dog waste bag left by the french doors (within our enclosed seating area)- we didn't bring pets with us. Would have been perfect if the cleaning was up to standard.

Very nice cottage, toilet and bathroom could have been a bit cleaner.

The bed was comfortable and the cottage was well equipped and the information on the local area was good. There was a nice lawn area with picnic benches but our cottage looked out onto the car park from its little lawn and seating bench, a bit of planting along the fencing to separate the cottage garden from the car park would be an improvement. The seating outside was only a picnic bench, table and chairs are more comfortable. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the cottage to others.

The cottage is beautifully furnished, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, cookies and lots of cleaning products are provided.

Easy parking and there are several nearby walks for dog owners. I would have given the cottage a much higher rating except for the disappointingly lightweight summer duvet provided on the double bed which I found much too cold at night for the cool weather of early May. This is the first place I have stayed where there are no extra blankets provided for colder clients. My holiday was saved by using the thicker and snugglier single duvets in the second bedroom but using them would not have been possible if we had had family staying with us. There are convector heaters but I do not want to sleep in a room filled with warm muggy air. I did contact the manager to check if there was any extra bedding available ("no") but she didn't answer until we were home from our holiday, which was a bit pointless. This is a very personal review and anyone who prefers lightweight bedding will love this cottage.

Fabulous cottage in a stunning location.

Perfect.

A large group comfortably accomodated.

Hopefully we will return

Very highly recommended.

Wonderful location, and every need catered for (including a fully decorated Christmas tree!). Spotlessly clean and warm and comfortable. The manager and owner have made us feel really welcome and have gone out of their way to make sure we have everything we need to enjoy our stay.

Had a fabulous stay at Rowdens Barn, the cottage was clean and very comfortable, lovely walk off up the bridle path opposite the cottage and through the woods, you can also do a shorter route through two fields which leads you to the village centre and down to the pub.

Will definitely be staying again as it’s such a good base for local exploration.

My family and me had a wonderful stay in the barn and will come back at some point.

Thanks

Cottage was great every thing you needed every body enjoyed there stay would go again

Great holiday stay, fresh and clean open plan barn with everything you could need.

Only down side is no paths to walk on into the village and no real amenities without driving somewhere. Otherwise excellent

We loved our break here.

The cottage is well equipped to a high standard, which is refreshing as not all holiday lets are. It is well placed for accessing all the sights and what beautiful sights they are, such stunning countryside. Great if you’re a runner and you want to get fit

The comfort issue relates to the sagging sofa and chair in the living room which were very uncomfortable.

The cottage lighting was too dim for reading or board games.

We had a fantastic stay at Rowdens Barn at Hedge End Farm.

The property is in an amazing location but what really stands out is the quality of everything inside. From the power of the shower, to the high spec of the white goods and tv, right down to the fantastic knives and utensils which are available. The property is also really welcoming on arrival, with little touches like the heating being on low on a rainy day so its warm when you walk in and the cake on the stand on the dining table. Going away during COVID, it was also great to be able to speak to the property manager before arrival to agree on what would be in the property in terms of bedding and towels in advance, so we felt very comfortable throughout our stay, as well as being reassured by how spotless the whole property was. Lastly, we were very impressed by the communications from Sykes Cottages, especially the brilliantly helpful email about what to remember to pack and checking the car in advance etc! We would be very happy to book through them again in the future.

Very pleased with the property, although the listing didn't make it clear that all cottages in this complex face inwards around a square, which although pleasant felt a tad claustraphobic - there were no windows looking outside the square to the lovely countryside.

Owners / managers were helpful in ensuring an urgent item we needed mailing to the cottage arrived very promptly and with no issues. Kitchen was very well equipped but had so many items there was no cupboard space left for guests to place groceries. A side cupboard by the lounge was empty so perhaps some crockery could be placed there so there is room in the actual kitchen for guest groceries. The bathroom badly needs shelving or storage for guests - a shame this wasn't already provided as there is ample space. A couple more side lamps in the lounge would also help make the place more cosy (we ended up moving a bedside lamp behind the tv, and bringing our own to place in the dining area). A pleasant surprise was that the tv was a smart tv (it wasn't listed as such) so we could access our netflix etc. The woodburner is extremely efficient. Would stay again

The lighting in living room is poor needs down lighters like bedroom not a clumsy search light .

No oven trays . heater in small bedroom is behind bed which could cause fire.if used . Broadband fast ,smart TV , no problem with mobile service .

The holiday home was literally a holiday from home.

Clean and well equipped. It was great to have cleaning products and soap. Towels were of a good quality as were the furnishings. A comfortable bed too! The owners' information booklet was extremely helpful and informative and well written. The site was well maintained too. We loved the area which was an excellent location for trips out. Loved our holiday.

We have one of the best holidays ever , absolutely stunning property everything you need on your doorstep fantastic walks , fantastic beaches , brilliant pubs , everything you need or a perfect holiday

Easy to access - given key safe number.

Cake, tea, milk in house for us to use upon arrival. Fantastic games room - something for each member of the fsmoky.

Great last minute booking.

Excellent cottage will be visiting again

!

. My wife and I are both in our early 70's and find it difficult to get in and out of the Bath. The shower was adequate but we did not feel safe showering and standing up in the Bath as there was no where to hold onto to prevent us slipping. A handle on the Bath wall would have been ideal. 2. Although the facilities in this property were adequate and excellent the aged leather sofa and armchair emitted a bad feet smell which was quiet unpleasant at times, 3. Otherwise, we would be quiet happy to recommend this excellent property ( plenty of room)

Well located clean comfortable cottage.

Ideal base to see Dorset Jurassic coast and countryside.

Wow!

Beautiful accommodation with absolutely everything you need. Lovely welcome pack. Beaches only 30 minutes away and wonderful countryside on your doorstep. Games room was really good. Enclosed garden for the dogs.

Lovely cottage was amazing but found mud in sofa and bed was very uncomfortable needs new mattresses but apart from that would recommend

The enclosed area with lawn and patio associated with each cottage is ideal for dogs (or children!

). There are lots of great places to visit within 40mins by car from the cottage.

Clean, comfortable, cosy and convenient cottage that we would return to if in the area, which is very pretty.

The only negative is that the cottage abuts a road and, although it is rural and isn’t busy, you can hear vehicles travelling past, particularly in the double bedroom.

A relaxing place to stay for a break away in the countryside.

Always love somewhere with a log burner! The enclosed generous-sized garden was fantastic for our dog. Most self-catering places struggle with adequate kitchen facilities, but this was far above average, although could do with some more cutlery due to having a full-sized dishwasher. We both found the sofa and double mattress a bit uncomfortable, but other than that it was great and I would recommend to others.

We loved Rowdens Barn, the open space was very much enjoyed.

We have 2 children and found the size perfect for all 4 of us. We had great weather for February but the temperatures did drop at night and found the heaters provided a great amount of warmth to keep us comfortable. It was very much appreciated that the barn was equipt with cleaning products and all the kitchen amenities and thank you for the cake and milk left in the fridge for our arrival. We will definitely book again

It was just perfect for us right down to the little finishing touches.

leanne was very helpful when we arrived . We was so delighted with the welcome cake and doggy treats and a pint of milk for us on arrival the log burner was also lovely and basket full of logs clean towels and bedding . What else can I say I don't think we have ever stayed anywhere as good as here , you could tell Leanne wanted to make sure we was comfortable and felt like we was at home

This was our 2nd time to this property as we liked it so much last time.

.. Warm, clean, relaxing and well equipped... we have recommended it, and the option to hire a couple for a bigger gathering.

Apart from the above - location - sweet fresh unpolluted tap water - quiet.

happy foryou to publish our reccommendation anonymously

This is such a lovely place, it's home from home.

So easy to relax and the place is so well equipped, even with tea, coffee, milk and a cake what more could you ask for! The secure garden is brilliant for dogs- just love it.

Very pleasant stay in well equipped, clean, accommodation.

Pretty garden and liked the 'play barn' - would consider bringing our grandchildren here for a holiday. Visiting dogs very well behaved. Well up to the standard of the other Sykes cottages in which we have stayed. Nice variety of day trips within easy reach.

The cottage was modern and well appointed with high quality fittings all working perfectly.

Very clean, very comfortable and well designed with plenty of accommodation and storage space. The location is quiet and would have benefit from having a shop in walking distance to save using the car, but this is a very minor point. The beds are comfortable and the pillows nice and firm. At the time we were there the temperature was very high, but the cottage remained tolerably cool. Overall, an excellent place for exploring the county's attractions and we would not hesitate in returning.

Lovely quiet location, made a great base to visit attractions, of which there are many, in Dorset.

The farm manager & his wife were very friendly. Lovely touch to have a chocolate cake set on the table upon arrival as well as tea, coffee, sugar & milk. There were even two bowls and a little bag of biscuits for our dogs! Definitely recommend!

What a lovely cottage, everything supplied and thought of .

High spec fittings throughout.Spotlessly clean.Close by Blandford Forum for all your shopping needs and lovely Stour meadows. We felt very comfortable staying here, and amongst beautiful countryside.

Home from home they have thought of everything.

Cake, full coffee, tea, sugar containers, milk in the fridge. Two dog bowls and dog biscuits. Amazing welcome lovely small garden fenced in no worries about letting dogs out. Cottages spaced in such a way it felt private. Communal garden beautiful and well kept. Tubs of herbs and flowers outside the door. Dishwasher, washing machine including soap capsules and comfort amazing ....

Stunning location, exceptionally well kept courtyard, beautifully presented cottage.

Internally, a really pleasant surprise. Spacious, very clean, well equipped and well laid out cottage. Spacious rooms, quality furnishings and the log burner was a nice surprise too. ( although weather was too nice to fire it up). Kitchen fully equipped to cater for a family of up to 8 people, with all mod cons on site. Beds very comfortable, in both our bedrooms. Even our 16 year old was happy, which can be a challenge with most teenagers!! Games room was also very good, catering for many ages. Already looking at booking again for a longer stay. Not normally one for doing reviews, but Rowdens Barn certainly deserves all the praise it receives.

Excellently equipped accommodation, spacious and clean.

Fantastic games room; really sorry not to have my grandchildren with me! Lovely countryside, pubs serving tasty food and in easy reach of the beautiful and striking Jurassic Coast

Lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the country.

Having a properly enclosed garden with grass for the dogs was brilliant.

Fabulous large cottage spotlessly clean and well equipped.

Lovely and quiet setting with great walks.

Everything was great; Sykes were very helpful as too was the Hedge End Farm Cottages manager.

Rowdens Barn is well fitted out with everything you could need; a real home from home. Will definitely use Sykes again for future holidays.

We only had a long weekend, however the cottage and the area was lovely will certainly be booking for a longer stay next time.

Such a lovely cottage.

Enjoyed staying there so much in March we came back in October. Wonderful holiday and will come back again.

The location was very comfortable and we were provided with everything that was needed.

Clean, modern, easy living. Excellent!

Used as a base to visit locations around was good, and relaxing to come back to after a busy day.

Fab location lovely accomodation clean, welcoming and warm woodburner was fab comfortable and relaxed.

. lovely surroundings too

Rowdens Barn exceeded our expectations.

It is much larger than appears in the photos. The barn was very clean and comfortable with a lovely woodburner and quality furnishings. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and would highly reccommend.

Really clean and smart excellent space to let dog's out so impressive overall , the quality of the barn conversion is second to none, cosey,functional- just not enough words to describe it .

We will be back, just what we were looking for thank you.
