Harbourside Cottage

Lovely cottage right on the harbour, it had everything you could possible need, even rechargeable torches next to the beds, that were really comfortable.

The only thing I would change is have darker/thicker blinds in the top floor bedrooms. As with all Weymouth properties the parking will be a problem at peak times.

Firstly I will state we would stay here again which says a lot, however it is not ideal.

Cleanliness was not to a standard acceptable to us mainly ownership rather than housekeeping. New carpet on stairs and landings contrasted greatly with the other carpets and the lounge room carpet was a shocker with no excuses. I reported the condition to reception as I didn't want to be accused of the damage! First impression entering the property is again off putting as the natural stone flooring looks dirty but it's what it is with the Portland Heights Hotel having the same flooring and looking the same, I get it but it wouldn't be my choice for reasons I have stated. Upholstery in lounge looks tired and uninviting. This property has fabulous potential with just some silly issues to be addressed. Hopefully by next visit we will see these issues resolved. Many good features comfortable beds, plenty of space and more than adequate resources. I am aware this sounds a harsh review but if the carpets were renewed and settee changed then it would be a very different situation.

Harbourside Cottage is in desperate need of a heavy clean.

First impressions were disappointing with rubbish from previous guests having been left in the courtyard. Despite a call to Dream Cottages on arrival and being advised it would be collected on the afternoon, it wasn't and with the office being closed on Sunday, I had to go to the office on Monday morning to again ask for it to be removed. Thankfully it was removed on the Monday but by this time it was smelling and the seagulls had found it. The courtyard itself was disappointing and despite there being 3 chairs there was no table. The area was also untidy with weeds. The cottage itself was not in a satisfactory condition, the front door was extremely difficult to open and by our 2nd week the door wouldn't lock and needed some force to open. The carpets throughout the cottage were dirty and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years, the sofa in the lounge was also covered in stains, the window in the lounge had a gap at the top and was also partly misted up obscuring the views of the harbour. On opening the dishwasher it was extremely dirty and the property generally felt unkept and unclean. A casual look for next year reflects the property is unavailable for the whole of the year so hopefully the owners are planning a complete revamp to bring this property up to an acceptable level. A very poor property with a lot of issues that urgently need addressing.

Second year we've stayed here and will be back next year , lovely setting right on the quay side , everything you need in one place

Another lovely stay at Harbourside.

We have noticed that some of decorations need upgrading.Also reported the waste in the basin on the middle en-suite was not working this should have been picked up by the cleaners.The general cleanliness downstairs was not up to standard iefloors could do with more cleaning.Otherwise we do like this cottage and also look forward to booking this cottage again in 2026.or before.Les and Dawn.

Such a beautiful cottage in an idyllic location…the sun shone every day and we had an amazing holiday

A very spacious cottage in a great Location, mattresses extremely comfortable, Kitchen very well equipped.

Minor points, could do with a deep clean especially bathroom tiles! stains on carpets, thick dust on blinds. Lack of towel rail and shelves in second floor bathroom. Overall would definitely stay here again

This was our 2nd visit.

We love the location and spaciousness of the cottage. The views over the harbour are wonderful and there's a great pub (Red Lion) and coffee shop literally on your doorstep. The town centre and beach are a leisurely stroll away.

This was the second year we stayed in Harbourside Cottage and were very happy with the accommodation and its location.

However we requested clean bed linen at the end of our first week, when we arrived back at the cottage at end of the day, we found that the beds had been stripped and the pillows and duvets left on the floor and pile of bed linen dumped in one of the bedrooms. we then had to set too and remake the beds. The whole experience did not live up to our expectations of Dream Cottages service. Peter Heath

Town and activities all in walking distance. So many places to visit short car ride away. Two front door keys would be useful. Thank you fir a lovely holiday.

Loved this little cottage ,ideal for my mum 88 as one of the bedrooms was on the same floor as the living room , really comfortable stay

Although booking this cottage 8 months in advance, we were only told about the road closures affecting the property, due to the Wessex Folk Festival 10 days before.

My party consisted of visitors from Canada and the Bahamas and travelling arrangements could not be changed at this short notice. This resulted in my guests, all aged over 75, having to carry their luggage through performers and visitors to reach the property with no offer of help from the stewards. In future it would be helpful to arrange for assistance to be made available during such events. However the accommodation was very clean and well presented with minor issues being resolved on the day by the team in the local Dream Cottages office. The location of the accommodation made our stay most enjoyable and would recommend renting the property to others, just not when the is festival on.

Beautiful property in idyllic location.

We found parking a bit like playing Tetris and had to park in Hope Square a couple of times. Property was not up to usual standard of cleanliness and was probably cleaner when we left! Decor a bit shappy and worn, needs some TLC. Bed on first floor exremely uncomfortable and this bedroom definitely not suited to taller adults.

A lovely cottage in Weymouth Harbour.

Tastefully decorated and well maintained. We had a parking permit for the local streets which enabled us to park right outside. We were there at the beginning of July so there were no parking issues. Not sure what it would be like in the main season, however there is a local car park at Nothe fortress that is a 2 minute walk away and the all day charge was £6 on an online app, which we thought was really reasonable as an alternative. For those who need it the Wi-Fi in the cottage was excellent and accessible in all rooms. Would definitely go back.

An excellent property in a great location, well equipped and well managed.

As life-long visitors to Weymouth, we believe the harbour side of town with the Nothe Fort, Hope Square and all the pubs and cafes much the best area in which to stay. We haven’t rated this cottage five stars only because every sound from the top floor en suite (shower, lavatory etc) was quite audible in the bedroom below, as was every tread on the creaky stairs. This did cause the odd sleepless night. It’s maybe not a big issue and one to be expected in old properties but we probably wouldn’t stay here again because of this.

The location was terrific and the accommodation suited the needs of our party of 4 adults and 2 children perfectly.

It was comfortable and attractively decorated and furnished. One minor fault - the handle on the inside of the sliding door to the shower room in the 1st floor en suite was missing.

Perfect property for our holiday.

It's in a great location, right along the harbour, with everything you need close at hand - shops, pubs, places to eat. The house is very well equipped, and very comfortable. We felt quite at home there for the few days we stayed!

We stayed here for three weeks during October.

House with really good views over the harbour. It's obviously an old building, but refurbs have been nicely done. The ground floor doesn't look its best with loads of black scratches, and that gives a poor first impression. I understand why it has been done that way, but having a kitchen and main toilet on a different level to the lounge didn't suit us.

Our second stay at Harbourside cottage, Location is ideal and the size of the dwelling suits is great.

However we do feel the overall appearance of the cottage is looking a little tired now, and whilst we had a great time some additional upkeep could improve this cottage. Weeds In the front and courtyard could be addressed.The courtyard is small but isn’t inviting to sit out and eat in the current condition and could be made much more welcoming with upgraded outdoor furniture. The cottage needs a freshen up and carpets could do with replacing, Decor and paint work could do with some attention also The top floor double room has the most uncomfortable mattress and you can feel every spring. Some simple fixes could make this cottage even better.

We’ve stayed here well over 10 times, so clearly we like the property.

The annoyance this year is that we were told that, unlike previously, a parking permit would not be supplied. At considerable inconvenience we travelled by train this year, and were unable to further explore the area by car. We then found out that a different permit was supplied so we could have used the car.

A well equipped holiday let in an excellent position.

The outside space let the property down as it was dirty drab and could do with some tlc. The inside was tired and probably needs a refurb. One parking place for a six persons let is not enough and future customers with more than one car should add another £40 per car onto their holiday costs. The key safe is a pain but dream cottages kindly provided an extra key which was very useful. Overall a good place to stay

We had a lovely stay, close to everything the property is a bit tiered but it was clean and comfortable which is the main thing would definitely stay here again

Having stayed at this property previously, the standard of decor, cleaning and certain furnishings needs addressing.

A lovely cottage but in need of some decorating.

But as the property had recently been sold we expect this problem will be dealt with.We do hope that this property will be let once again as we have stayed here many times.The only other comment is the cleaning was not as good as previous times.

Harbour side Cottage has the most amazing position with excellent views over the harbour and surrounding areas.

Lovely spacious rooms with good quality appliances. Needs a little maintenance but all in all a lovely little cottage.

Fabulous holiday cottage close to all amenities with a fabulous view.
