Poppies

Overall, it was a good experience and a great location.

The property had all the required facilities. The parking was an added bonus, as you can walk to the harbour or town within a short time. The only downside was the Quay Brewery construction works across the road, which started before 8am every morning. There was no mention of this when we booked.

Have stayed at poppies about 7 times now and it never lets us down, always very clean and so comfortable, in fact we are already booked up for next year.

We have happily holidays at poppies for many years,sometimes three times a year,and it has always suited our families needs.

We had hoped to continue coming for many years to come. Each year we book our main holiday for June or July so we were shocked to see that the price for 2027 has increased by almost 50% compared with 2026 we initially thought this must have been a mistake as there appears to be no justification for such a significant increase in fact some facilities have been reduced over the years such as sky tv which was previously provided. We checked with dreams cottages and found the pricing to be correct. It is with great sadness that we have decided our long association with poppies has regrettably come to an end.We have made many wonderful memories over the years and are genuinely disappointed that the price increase has made it impossible for us to continue holidaying with you Sandra & Robert Pratchett

Poppies was one of the best holiday homes we have booked.

It had everything you would want. The only thing preventing a five star revue was the shower wasn't ideal for larger built people. But would certainly come again

Unfortunately we had to endure a member of dream cottages staff using the back door that is very close to the back door of poppies and it would slam behind her and her dog every morning, so had to call in to the office to mention door slamming etc the girl in reception apologised saying it was a fire door , left it at that and that was on Wednesday and all was okay until the following Wednesday when we came back to poppies for a little while in the afternoon this door started slamming two or three times and eventually this young woman came out from the fire door with a big grin on her face and slammed the door whilst having a big grin on her face.

It's a shame really because we have been going to poppies for many years and enjoyed it, but this ruined it for us and so we won't be back.

We loved our stay at Poppies, such a lovely property and in a super location.

The inside of the property was very bright and airy and spotlessly clean. We would happily make a return visit. The secure parking was a real bonus.

Loved the addition this year, of grab rails outside the front door. And the massive new tv was a surprise!

Poppies is a lovely property.

Very clean and comfortable and a great location. A couple of very minor observations. The front door needs attention as it was sticking and a bit tricky to open. Not a good property for anyone with mobility issues as the steps to the property are very deep. A rail would help. The pull cord in the bathroom needs lowering a little as I couldn’t reach it. The welcome pack was great together with the pint of fresh milk.

it is a lovely property in an ideal location and beautifully presented we had problems with the heating at first it turned out to be the temperature controller and worked fine after we put some new batteries in it.

We found the steps to the front door very awkward and will certainly make it easier when the handrail is installed other than that we had a lovely holiday again Bob & Pam

We love the property we have stayed many times, very comfortable only a couple of things, the shower is a little small and the chairs in living room are a bit uncomfortable but overall very good location and will probably stay again

Poppies was lovely cleaning, tidy and well appointed.

The only criticism is that the shower was not very powerful which was disappointing as I look forward to a reviving shower each morning. The water in the bathroom sink was slow to drain but suspect it just needs a bit of unblocking.

We have stayed at Poppies 4/5 times now and it never lets us down the cleanliness is always spotless and the furniture is so comfortable along with the beds.

We had a wonderful 3week stay at poppies, yet again everything was perfect loved the change around of bedrooms, weather was glorious cannot wait to come back, I agree with your other visitor step is a bit awkward when you have dodgy knees .

The changes made have made Poppies even better. The only improvements that we can think of are to possibly add another step outside the front door as it is a bit of a problem for those with a mobility walker getting in & out Or a handle by the door is another option

Beautifully decorated and furnished. Everything is provided to make your stay comfortable.

Along with my wife we have holidayed with Dream Cottages in nearly all the properties in Kellaway Court, its a lovely quite place near to the Quayside, with free parking, personally I think one of the best arears in Weymouth.

Poppies is an exceptionally well appointed, accommodation, where you want for nothing, the condition of the property & facilities are excellent (second to none) I honestly can not fault the place or think of any improvements, it's a real pleasure to holiday there. Subject to booking conditions hopefully in the not to distant future if I can book another holiday I'LL BE BACK.

Wonderful quite unique property to stay in, ideal location, private off-road parking a godsend, will definitely be booking again.

We are regular visitors to Weymouth, but first time in this cottage.

Change round of bedrooms works better too. No doubt we will book again. So handy for the harbour and Weymouth town centre and with easy parking. No need to worry about being able to park when you travel out for the day.

Found boiler not working about 8oclock. Followed your fault procedures and had to wait till Monday before engineer called after I went to the dream cottage office. After freezing for 2 nights it was not good to hear the call out man could have been with us in 5 minutes if you could be bothered to contact him Don’t think I will use you again. Have been to poppies many times and always supperb

The cottage is spotlessly clean, with all the facilities that you would need. It’s a shame we were t there for longer to make use of everything on hand. The location can not be beaten & having private, gated parking is a bonus. We will be back x

Property was as described.

Very thoughtful welcome bottle of milk in the fridge upon arrival along with a Dorset welcome pack (which is always appreciated thank you). We enjoyed our stay in Weymouth as usual and previously we have stayed at Melanies (next door) and another Sykes property on Greenhill. The one thing we didn't like about the property was the double bed in the main bedroom (we're 5'11 and 5'7 and of average weight). My wife and I did not have comfortable sleeps and towards the end of the stay (due to it's size and the soft mattress) I swapped beds with my 10 year old daughter as the kids had two single beds in their room. So long story short I think the main bedroom bed should be upgraded to a kingsize, with a better mattress, if at all possible. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and the property has everything you could need and is a great base for Weymouth & Portland exploring.

Nice cottage with all you need,close too harbour/ town, with secure parking

We had no hot water for most of the week, the beds were uncomfortable and stained!

Not the best so will not be returning. Stayed in far better which were cheaper. We sadly made a mistake with this one.

Lovely house to stay in, great location, very clean and comfortable and with ease of parking made this a good holiday looking to come back in near future To help with your bookings I would recommend you add downstairs cloakroom to your house description as this was an added bonus for us

We loved the new lounge furniture, very smart and comfortable.

And we loved the new tv once we worked out which remote controls to use! As ever it was a home from home .

What a beautiful place very clean everything you need was catered for can't wait to go again.

Everything was as we expected it to be superb accommodation we had a slight problem but it was dealt with efficiently by dreams thank you.

Only minor issue was using the TV.

Originally it would not select TV from the source list it kept looking for the TV box/hub. Getting the TV on was hit and miss. Then noticed Digital TV was switched off in the source list, added it in and used that for basic tv. Much better from there in. Casting to the TV from Apple or Android was the best way to view other stuff. Also WiFi code needs updating in the folder. We still had the correct one from last time we stayed. We had another fantastic time at Poppies and Weymouth as we have had before. Poppies is the ideal place for us an excellent place to stay. Sure we will be back in the future.

We have holiday in the brewers quay for a lot of year's and can't fault a thing always have had a relaxing time shame to see some of the pubs and cafes have closed down but in all a fantastic break will be back next year

This was our second stay at Poppies, it was nice to see the new lounge furniture and the chairs with the footstalls we’re particularly comfortable.

The overall cleanliness of the property was good and it was lovely to have a welcome hamper and milk on arrival. There was an issue with the microwave and the fridge but these was sorted straight away. Overall a very comfortable stay and amazing weather.

The property was amazing , the location was superb too.

The hamper that was left for us on arrival was great and a really nice touch. The property was spotless and very modern , we could not fault it. It was a lovely property to come back to and relax after a day on the beach or exploring Weymouth. We cant wait to return. We absolutely love Weymouth and this property is the best we have stayed in for sure.

The property was exactly what we expected.

The lady who came midway through to change the bed linen was very nice and friendly. She even took time to tell us about local attractions. We have booked with Sykes cottages many times and hope to continue.

Popped is a wonderful place to stay.

It's very well placed, and having car parking is great. The decor is lovely and the whole house is light and airy. The only problem we found was that we had to clean the shower drain of a lot of accumulated hair which was preventing drainage -before we could have a first shower. Not a pleasant task. However this would not prevent us from recommending Poppies as a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely be returning.

Please put some darker curtains up in both rooms I was awake at 5 every morning because it was too bright

Poppies is a perfect place for up to 4 people to enjoy a relaxing holiday but with everything within a short walking distance

This is an excellent property in a very convenient position withy private parking in a gated community.

It was very clean and very nicely furnished. The only observation was no towel in the downstairs loo so we used one out of the spare unused bedroom. The Dorset Happy Hamper and pint of milk was much appreciated. We highly recommend this property. 5Star. Thank you.

The only thing we could find fault with , was the quilt could have been thicker on the main bed.

Need a thicker one for the winter. Fantastic house ! we have stayed before and shall return!

This was definitely one of the best holiday properties we have stayed in.

The house is kept to a high standard, extremely well equipped and excellently situated. A particular thanks for the buckets and spades which we found under the stairs! Like others we were frustrated by the unavailability of recycling facilities but we appreciate this is beyond your control and will be contacting Dorset Council separately about this.

We were very pleased with the property overall.

Just a couple of points - the shower needs a good clean around the base. We were disappointed not to be able to recycle waste, although we understood the instructions that the let was treated as a commercial property. In these days could not a case be made for environmentally friendly domestic waste disposal on holiday lets?

We booked the cottage very lastmin, all was fab.

The cottage is in a great position tucked away but near the harbour. Just one small thing, could do with a better mattress on the double bed.

Very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Only negatives were that the heating was off when we arrived at 5pm so the house was freezing cold, and no tea bags or milk so we couldn’t even warm up with a cup of tea! Not a very warm welcome.

Disappointing not to have sky package anymore and sofa is not very comfortable

We have been to Poppies in Weymouth many times, and it is still as enjoyable and comfortable as ever.

Highly recommended.

Just a problem with the step to the door so high had a job to get out.

The rug in the lounge was such a slip hazard it moved all the time

Overall the cottage was cleaned to a good standard but unfortunately they failed to do any dusting.

We arrived at 5pm to find the cleaner had left her car in our space and did not collect it until 5.50pm which was not acceptable and we had to park in the visitors space instead. There needs to be a washer dryer especially when we had young children staying and the weather was not hot enough to effectively dry the clothes on the airer outside. The rug in the lounge needs to be secured as it is a tripping hazard We we’re confused by the arrangement of both bedrooms. Surely the double bedroom should have better storage, our grandchildren ended up with a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and tv which was totally unnecessary. The mattress protectors were badly stained and both mattresses need to be replaced as they both dip in the middle. It would be helpful to have clothes hooks on the back of the bedrooms and bathroom doors.

We had a fantastic time at Poppies.

The place was spotless and the bedrooms were a decent size. It's in a great location, we didn't need to use the car all week. We will definitely be back!

Cleaned to a decent standard except for a random jumper that was left next to the sofa.

From reading the previous guests reviews it seems this jumper has been hanging around for a while. Perfect location for local restaurants and pub but it can get a bit noisy when the neighbours come staggering back. The fridge had a lot of water inside and the freezer was "sort of out order". The sofa and bed was very comfortable and the TV was a good size. Also free Netflix courtesy of Alison :) Dreams cottages were very helpful when we had to delay our holiday due to Covid.

Great to finally get back to Weymouth.

Really good time had by all and Poppies is a very handy and good base to use. Our third visit to Poppies and we would come again.

The house was really nice comfortable and clean, right in the heart of the harbour.

Really good to have a parking space right outside the house. Could probably benefit from a better sign outside as we struggled initially to find it, as it's not visible and behind some electric gates but all good

As there was a jumper left behind the chair the living room had not been thoroughly cleaned.

However this in no way spoilt our holiday. Home from home!! The location was just perfect and parking a bonus.

TV made need re-tuning as a lot of channels missing, other than that perfect stay.

We had a lovely week in poppies, we have stayed here loads of times, lovely house the only downfall is the shower is a bit small and the water does not come out very quick, also you could do with blackout curtains in the bedrooms, but we would stay there again we stayed here in July and September

Home was excellent and location of property was great.

Poppies is a lovely holiday home and we found it very conveniently situated close to Weymouth's amenities but quietly located.

We had two issues regarding the heating which were immediately rectified by the Dream cottages staff whose office was round the corner from us. We've been using Sykes for a number of years and have always had milk provided (even cakes and scones at some places) and spare toilet rolls and refuse sacks were left too, however these were NOT provided in this property.

We have stayed at poppies before very nice,clean and good quiet location accommodation is well equipped, sky tv is useful, but the shower is a bit small and not very powerful, but are staying he again in June and July and September, so very good thank you

Pilot light was "off" and extremely difficult to re-light.

Drying clothes an issue in wet weather, a washer/dryer would be a great help. Unnecessary use of plastic bags in All the waste bins in the house. Location superb and the house was "fitted out" to a high standard.

It was ideally located, close to the town, and the beach, both of which we were able to walk to.

Very clean accommodation, everything that we needed, including a downstairs toilet. We all enjoy Weymouth, and would go back to Poppies.

The second time staying at beautiful Poppies cottage.

Fabulous location, perfect home from home. Extremely near to all the pubs and restaurants around the beautiful harbour and the parking on site is a massive plus. We've been holidaying with Dream Cottages for at least 15 years and all of the cottages we've stayed in are to a high spec. We're looking forward to our return visit next year.

The front steps are a little bit high for anyone with mobility issues.

Every property we have booked has always been spotless and comfortable.

We continually come back to Poppies as it has everything we need for a perfect holiday cottage also it is so convenient for walking to town and the seafront and many other lovely walks - perfect for ‘us pensioners’ !

The booking process was very easy, the staff at dream cottages were very friendly and helpful, and Poppies was an extremely nice place to stay. I have travelled to Weymouth a lot for work and this is the first time I've used a holiday let rather than a hotel. Excellent cottage, comfy beds and the kitchen well equipped for any meal that needs to be prepared. This is a home from home cottage well situated for any tourist attractions or just leaving the car behind for walks nearby. Very clean and warm .Useful to have books DVDs info leaflets and the "Weymouth " jigsaw fits just right on the coffee table for a winter stay! Walking distance of local supermarket etc. We have used dream cottages for over 10 years and found the service excellent and a high standard of holiday homes. See you in June! Stayed March 2017

Yet another lovely cottage, (our 10th booking with you,) Poppies was spotless, very comfortable beds and everything one needs. This is our third year with Dream Cottages and have never found any problems and never found the ned to complain about anything. Your service is impeccable and the whole booking experience is faultless. Poppies, as was Melanies 3 years ago and Dolphin last year was spotlessly clean, the facilities and equipment available is amazing never having to request anything special to meet our needs. The location is amazing, the weather was outstanding, I do realise the Dream Cottages cannot do anything about that but this is the third year of good weather. The accommodation is ideal for getting about Weymouth and Dorset, it's roomy and quiet. Love it, if we return to Weymouth again we will definitely choose Dream Cottages to find our accommodation. 10 out of 10 for everything. Stayed July 2018
