Description

The Wave at Eype is a unique architect designed lodge style property, and it offers breath-taking uninterrupted sea views. Newly constructed in 2018, this contemporary lodge has fully glazed bi-fold doors leading on to a large decked area, which makes the most of the sea and coastal views, from both inside the property and out. The doors make the open plan living kitchen dining space part of the outside and they allow the light to flood in, and bring the stunning views to the doorstep. The curved shape of The Wave affords guests the opportunity of a first floor master bedroom with further additional unique sea views. There are also two ground floor bedrooms and a contemporary bathroom.

This exceptional gem is just a few moments' walk from the beach, and coastal path, and it offers the perfect location for a relaxed seaside family holiday in Dorset.

Just a short drive away the market town of Bridport, with its famous market, large selection of independent shops, and popular restaurants and it is well worth a visit. If you are a fan of the ITV series Broadchurch, the chalet used in series one is directly opposite The Wave, and West Bay where the series was based is just a short drive away, and you can recognise many familiar sights from the programme when you visit.

There is much to be enjoyed on the doorstep of this beautiful property, but don’t let that stop you from exploring further afield, as Chesil beach, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury, Portland and Weymouth are all close by, and an easy drive away.

This chalet would suit a family or group of friends who want to make the most of being on the coast.

We had a wonderful holiday in this lovely chalet, enjoying views to the sea and hills.

The chalet was clean and modern with comfortable beds and a good sofa. (The top bedroom has quite a low ceiling.) The television was easy to use (but rather high up). The kitchen was well equipped and modern with a microwave, oven, dishwasher etc and there was a washing machine in the rear room. On several sunny days we sat outside and had breakfast on the deck. In the evenings I lay on the sofa and relaxed while my husband went to the New Inn for real ale. We were able to walk to the beach from the chalet in 2 minutes and enjoy the views down the coast to Portland. It was one of the few places that we would like to stay in again.

This property is a beautiful location on the SW coastal path and within 2mins of Eype beach easy reach of Lyme.

It is down a very narrow road not for the faint-heated. We enjoyed lovely weather walking and swimming. Definitely need shoes for any swimming as beach is stony. Good seafood esp. recommend the Hive at Burton Beach. The chalet was disappointing and not usual Sykes standard. It is well designed and the master bedroom is lovely, v comfortable bed. This said the chalet needs 1.a very good deep clean, there were spiderwebs in most corners; 2. a purge of crockery and cutlery, there was an eclectic mix and lots of chipped crockery and stained cutlery; 3. a new dishwasher, a lot of dishes and equipment was not clean on arrival and became evident that the dishwasher was defective. These three things and some attention to the grassy area outside would make such a difference.

The Wave is spectacular…and bigger than it looks in the pictures.

Eype is a beautiful and peaceful area, especially at night under designated dark skies. The air conditioning in the master bedroom ensures a restful night's sleep. The dishwasher has seen better days and the kettle needs replacing. Cleanliness was generally good, though there were a few hot spots in the shower and kitchen. A privacy screen on the left side of the decking would have been nice, along with blinds in the kitchen. Driving on Mount Lane to access the property may not suit nervous or inexperienced drivers. Each run is a game of chance based on the skill and patience of the drivers you meet, and where you meet them on the lane. Ideally, you don’t want to be in a convoy with one or more cars behind you.
