Beautiful cottage, clean with everything you need for a self catering holiday.

Sheets and towels smelt lovely. Beautiful little garden with a summer house you can use. Location is great for exploring Portland. Bus stop is about a 10 minute walk from the cottage. This was our 2nd visit and hope to return again next year.

We used to live on Portland and were delighted to find this cottage to stay in whilst visiting family and friends.

It's a typical Portland property and a little gem. The cottage was very comfortable and homely with all the essentials needed for self-catering, it was also very clean and well maintained (a big thank you to the cleaning staff). A few things I would pick up on is that due to the amount of cars it was not always possible to park outside the cottage, but I always found somewhere on the road nearby. It is an old building, ceilings and door frames are quite low, anyone over six foot needs to be mindful. It says in the folder that there is recycling at Tesco's in Easton, I found only paper recycling. We had a brilliant stay and would gladly stay again. Thank you.

The property was excellent - exceptionally clean, very cosy and comfortable and extremely well equipped.

The only reasons for not awarding it 5 stars was that occasionally it was difficult to park close to the cottage - the worst time was the day we arrived and we had to lug our suitcases and provisions down the street

This is the eighth consecutive year we have stayed at this wonderfully clean and cosy cottage.

It has everything you could need for a nice relaxing holiday. It is a wonderful location for exploring Portland and is a short bus ride to Weymouth.

First and foremost this is a very nice holiday cottage which was clean, comfortable and in a great location.

In fact in our opinion the photos on the Dream Cottages website didn't do it justice and it was far larger than we imagined (a floor plan might be helpful as well). I'm sure that we will stay again. However, there are a few things that we found disappointing which as as follows: 1 The location of the back door keys etc was not clear and was not stated in the welcome pack. That meant that we had to contact Dream Cottages twice to tell them about our issue and then again to say that that we had found the keys. On both occasions there were long wait times. 2 In our opinion the TV package needs upgrading as there was no way of accessing BBC i-player etc or playing a DVD. One remote control had no batteries, the other had spent batteries so operating the TV was more difficult than it needed to be. 3 We thought that half a loo roll for the week was a bit stingy for the weekly charge! 4 There appeared to be guest information posted around the property. We thought that it would have been better just in one central location ie in the welcome pack. 5 It might be helpful to leave details of the waste recycling area by the Heights Hotel in the welcome pack as what is present at Tesco isn't really meant for bulk items. 6 Our final point is that the property is advised as taking up to 4 people, but this would really be a push with just one bathroom and indoor toilet! Most of the above points are easily addressed.

Hi this is our 3rd stay at Bowman's cottage, we were disappointed with our stay this time , having to pay £100 more for 5 nights than previously staying for 7 nights.

The freezer section of the fridge was solid with ice so we struggled to make ice cubes . Only half a toilet roll supplied ,shower head was dirty and there's a leak under the kitchen sink .I don't think we will be staying again. We stayed her to visit family .

The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday.

It was nice to have the summer house The position of the cottage is great for exploring the island. We would definitely recommend the cottage for a holiday and certainly wouldn't hesitate to rebook.

Wonderful stay at Bowmans Cottage.

Can honestly say I've never stayed anywhere so clean. The small things make all the difference so whowever cleans the property deserves top marks! Very nice and quiet, great for exploring nearby and its hidden gems. The little summerhouse in the garden is a bonus. Would book here again!

Loved our week here in Portland.

The cottage was adequate but we found the stairs a challenge. We are both in our late 70s and the very steep stairs and the narrowness of where your foot goes plus having to duck at the bottom was something we could have done without.

Perfect cottage as always.

We have stayed here quite a few years now as my husband enjoys Dorset. This cottage has everything you could need.

Would be good to update one fact.

The Bus Stops nearby are not used by the Frequent No.1 Bus and you have to walk up to Easton Square. Otherwise a lovely quiet cottage with everything you need.

This is a very comfortable & spotless cottage, well located for various walks and short drives.

Portland is more interesting than I expected and we were helped by a glorious week of sunshine. The owners were very generous, leaving plenty of necessities that other places we’ve been to don’t provide & there’s pubs/small supermarket/excellent fish and chip shop within walking distance. Our only quibble would be the master bedroom which had a double sized bed, although there was ample room for a king size one. We have a super king size at home, so struggled on the first night to get comfortable in the double. If the window is open (we sleep with open window at home), the room gets very noisy from early morning traffic. We just decamped into the back room & its single beds, which was fine for two of us but you couldn’t do that obviously if there were more than 2 occupants. The shower was great & the courtyard was pleasant to sit & eat lunch in. All in all, we had a lovely week there.

The property is in a great location to explore the isle of Portland and the Jerasic Coast. We all loved it.

We loved the cottage with the quaint rooms that had been decorated to a high standard of workmanship and all the facilities in all the rooms were more than adequate for what we required especially the shower which was great.

Which made our holiday staying in Portland a great week and will be returning in the future. Bob and Jean

Cottage larger than expected.

Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in......the double. All immaculately clean. We stayed Monday to Saturday am and all was wonderfully peaceful and quiet. Everything you need was provided and some fun quirky decorative additions gave the property character. Loved it

! my family, in the end, were not able to come.but I loved it; after 2 hellish journeys..best of all, I met after 11 years my friends and spent time with them. did all the sightseeing I could. 70 yr old memories.please put a page in about local places of worship. wish I'd packed my hot water bottle. could only manage the heating twice.My dyslexia. all in all. My last visit. I believe and a memorable one.

Very comfortable cottage, excellent location for exploring the Isle of Portland.

Plenty to see in the area. We used the bus service a lot especially the Coastal service with its open top deck. A reliable service. Cottage is well provided for.

The comfort of this clean and well cared for cottage is wonderful. I can find no problem or issue - everything was carefully thought about and is at hand. A few details- Denby tableware; summerhouse for outdoor eating in shade; white cotton sheets; wood floors. Portland is friendly and relaxed. We explored the quarries, cliff walks and it’s very interesting museum. Weymouth has a wide sandy beach as well as the old harbour which I found appealing.

We really enjoyed staying at your cottage! Since there were no pictures of the kitchen and the bathroom, we were scared those could be bad, but they weren't at all! The neighbours were really nice and helpful. On the left side is also a holiday cottage and in the two weeks staying there we heard them sometimes when we wanted to sleep. But mostly it helped to close the windows. Finding a parking place was easy. And for those who come with kids, there is a playground and huge football field near by. It is called the Groove. Thanks for everything!

We had a lovely week in this cottage.

The cottage had everything we needed and was presented in a high standard of cleanliness. The extra outside toilet was a bonus! The location is great for exploring Portland and Dorset coast. The only downside was the traffic and neighbour noise at night and in early hours due to the roadside location and need to have windows open.

The cottage was pristine clean when we arrived - bathroom, kitchen etc all spotless.

It is very well equipped - the owners have thought of almost everything. The only thing we would have liked was a bath mat. There was a plastic mat to put in the bath, but we couldn't find one to put on the floor so had to use a towel. The bathroom is small, but we didn't find that a problem. The living room was very comfortable and although the cottage is on a main road it is still very quiet at night. Being on a bus route was a big plus for us as we were able to go into Weymouth without having to worry about car parking. There is no off-street parking at the cottage, but we never had any problems finding a space close by. There was a very good selection of pots and pans in the kitchen, which you don't always find in a holiday property, and the appliances all worked very well. The main bedroom is huge, very welcoming and has plenty of storage space with lots of hangers to use. We loved the summer house, which gets the afternoon sun. It was great to return after a half-day out and relax inside it with a cup of tea. Many thanks to Dream Cottages for their prompt response when, on arrival, we found that the key to the summer house had sheared and we were unable to unlock it. A member of staff came round the next day to sort it out. Great service. There was a lot of information provided by the owners about restaurants, pubs and places to visit which we found very useful. This cottage was much more like home than many holiday cottages we have stayed in. The décor was very tasteful, the property felt very cosy and we didn't want to leave. It was one of the best cottages we have stayed in and we would like to come back.

The cottage is clean and well fitted out to a high standard ,everything is provided for a comfortable stay.

the walls are very thick so no noise issues, parking was very busy on the street during our stay, there was a problem with the electrics on the last day ,reset trip switch still no electrics in kitchen , otherwise this is a high standard property close to church ope cove.

When we arrived, we plugged in the kettle for a cup of tea and it blew the electrics.

The young lady who had come to inspect the cottage was so helpful and she bought us a new kettle almost immediately. We did not get her name but she was so friendly and polite.

Second time we have stayed here, a home from home and lovely location we love it.

What a fabulous little cottage.

On arrival it exceeded our expectations and was much bigger than we thought it would be, but did not lose its quaintness. Everything you could need is provided for and it is in a fantastic location. The people of Portland were so friendly and welcoming. Could not have asked for a better holiday.

Really nice, clean, bijou cottage.

Nice layout with small back yard, incorporating a nice little summer house. Nice for evening drinks if the weather is good. Exactly as stated in the advert. Only negatives would be parking nearby can be a problem from time to time. Only one bathroom, so a family of four has to be well organised. Oh, and no dishwasher

We have a lovely week on Bowmans cottage.

It was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our week away from board games, garden furniture, washing up equipment, leaflets about Portland and the surrounding areas and much more. We had a fantastic week in Portland, we enjoyed some lovely weeks and went out to some nice places to eat, I would recommend the sugar loaf cafe in town for lunch! Overall we had a wonderful week and throughly enjoyed our stat at Bowmans cottage.

High standard of cleanliness and very well equipped.

No obtrusive noise from adjoining properties as stone walls very thick. Some negative features such as very low ceiling heights ,steep narrow stairs,and road noise. Parking in the road outside is difficult during weekends as all spaces are taken by visiting tourists to Ope cove and museum.

Charming stone-built cottage scrupulously modernised and located close to Church Ope Cove.

All amenities within easy reach and some lovely cliff top walks nearby. Don't miss the Tout Quarry Sculpture Park (or Portland Bill lighthouse).

We had problems with getting the television to work when we arrived.

It was a signal problem, for some reason there was no signal at all. We reported this but then the reception came back briefly on Sunday morning so we cancelled the call. On Sunday evening we had no reception again. I contacted Dream Cottages again on Monday morning and they said they would send someone out. We were out for the day but received a call from a very polite gentleman called Dave who said he would call in and see if he could fix the problem. When we arrived back Monday afternoon, the TV was working and worked for the rest of our stay. Even though Dave said he could not detect a problem and the TV was working when he arrived, he said that if we had any other issues with it, to call straight back.

This was a very comfortable clean cottage in a lovely location very close to the coastal path with lovely walks with gorgeous sea views.

The cottage had a small garden with a small garden hut which we used each day. Would highly recommend this cottage.

Bowmans Cottage was well equipped, beautifully renovated and v clean.

The whole process of booking, payment and communication from start to finish was superb. We stayed in a beautiful, cozy and we'll equipped cottage in Portland which was just around the corner from a stunning coastal cove. Our family was able to do lots of fun exploring during our stay and we had an amazing adventure. The local area was peaceful just as we like it. Thankyou

This is our second visit to this fantastic cottage.

The cottage is well located, well furnished and equipped.I wouldn’t hesitate to book this cottage again and plan a further visit 2020.

We enjoyed our holiday on Portland very much, and the cottage was ideally placed for regular (car) trips to Portland Bill, and a very short (but steep) walk brings you to the beautiful Church Ope cove and the old “pirates” tombs, complete with skull & crossbones!

We had virtually no noise to endure, so it was very peaceful. Parking wasn’t as easy as we’d expected, but we always found a spot within 50 yards, occasionally being able to park right outside. The cottage itself was beautiful, it had everything we needed. Our only problem was the O2 signal didn’t work in some rooms, but I did overhear two local birdwatchers saying that their O2 signals had become quite poor recently, so probably a temporary local issue and nothing to do with the cottage at all. Portland is nicely positioned for trips out both East toward Poole and the Isle of Purbeck, and West toward Lyme Regis and Devon. We enjoyed a trip to Brownsea Island in Poole harbour - a lovely place. Also enjoyed seeing the Little Terns at Ferrybridge. To sum up the holiday and the cottage in a few words - “we loved it so much we booked for next year as soon as we arrived home!”

An absolute warm and comforting trip as my daughter lives around the corner. She has just had a baby so now no room at hers which leaves us to stay in hotels but as there are more than 2 of us this worked out cheaper which benefited us. We were delighted with Bowman's Cottage. It exceeded our expectations. The actual accommodation is much better than the photo's imply. The decor was charming; the cottage was very clean and tidy and the equipment and facilities provided were entirely adequate. It really felt to us like 'home from home' We were particularly impressed by the comfy beds and bedlinen; the excellent shower - the water pressure is so good it was like a power shower. One word of warning though - the height in the shower is limited so a tall person may struggle. Likewise, the bath is limited in length so a tall person may struggle. Outside is the garden room with table and chairs - delightful on a warm evening. Parking outside the cottage was never a problem. The location was perfect as it was not too near to the busier areas of the island but at the quieter end. Nevertheless, the shops were close enough to walk to for supplies. We used the bus several times and the service is very frequent and takes you in to the heart of Weymouth. We couldn't fault a single thing. Stayed June 2018
