Reviews of Wheatsheaf Cottage
Cottage located in beautiful unspoilt village. Had everything we needed spotlessly clean small grassed garden at side of property sat outside as weather on some days was lovely. Not really explored Dorset before had super week with plenty to see would definitely return and use cottage again. Nice touch to have tea coffee milk and biscuits provided together with nice bottle of wine. Stayed July 2016Mrs J Jew

Wheatsheaf Cottage is a pretty end terraced cottage nestled in the village of Askerswell in the Asker valley beneath the Iron Age hill fort of Eggardon Hill. The cottage is a conversion of a Grade II listed stone barn which also boasts a pretty and enclosed garden offering a peaceful rural location in the shadow of the 15th Century St Michael's Church Tower. The Spyway Inn, reputed to be an old smugglers haunt, is located in an elevated position within walking distance and offers a choice of local ales and home cooked food. The nearby market town of Bridport has a wealth of interesting shops selling local produce and antiques and both the Georgian town of Weymouth and the historic town of Lyme Regis with their sandy beaches are only a lazy drive away. The nearby Jurassic coastline offers a delight for fossil hunters and spectacular view points all along this special part of England, with the closest beaches being West Bay, with it's iconic golden cliffs, Burton Bradstock and West Bexington, all are under 30 minutes by car.
