Nestled away on the edge of the quintessential Dorset Coastal village of Osmington sits this modern converted Lodge which has been furnished to a high standard.  Whitegates Lodge is a link detached property in lovely grounds shared with the owner's own home. Guests will have use of the front garden which has a large lawn. Patio doors also lead out onto a gravelled area with a table and chairs where warm summer evenings can be enjoyed. (see photo). The property is accessed along a gated gravel driveway, tucked away just off the main village road in Osmington.  Although set back from the main road and fully screened, some traffic noise may be heard in the garden area.  The bright and clean decor gives a cool but relaxed feel throughout the property. The open plan kitchen, diner and lounge lends itself perfectly to socialising and relaxing during your stay. A short distance from the property is Craig's Farm Dairy, tea room and farm shop, which is ideal for buying fresh milk, cheeses and wonderful ice cream.  A short drive away is the bustling seaside town of Weymouth, with a wealth of bars, restaurants, shops and activities, as well as the three mile stretch of idyllic sandy beach, hosting a range of traditional seaside entertainment during the summer months and great for wintry strolls out of peak season. The famous South West Coast Path leads you to Osmington Mills, the beautiful coastal hamlet, known for its colourful history of smugglers, who supposedly took refuge in the local Inn (now The Smugglers Inn), which dates back to 13th Century. We would also recommend a trip East to the unique and beautiful Lulworth Cove during your stay; spend the day on the sheltered shingle beach, or enjoy a meal at one of the local pubs or restaurants, while taking in the stunning scenery. A walk from Lulworth Cove over to Durdle Door offers the perfect opportunity to admire the striking views over the Jurassic Coastline with its unusual geological formations.

Accommodation: Step from hall to Lounge/Kitchen/Diner - two patio doors with step down to garden area. Shower room with shower, hand basin and toilet. Stairs to first floor: Bedroom 1, double bed. Bedroom 2, twin single beds. Cloakroom, with toilet and hand basin.

Additional services: WiFi. Gas central heating. Fridge & Freezer, washing machine. Large flat screen TV & DVD player. iPod docking station. Parking for two cars.

Holidays should be easy and stress free to organise and meet every expectation - and this certainly did. We had a fabulous holiday! The information prior to arrival was clear, the booking process was straightforward. The accommodation was absolutely spotless and to a very high standard. A very well equipped Lodge. I would certainly not hesitate in recommending both Dream Cottages and Whitegates - stayed July 2017

Whitegates Lodge has gorgeous gardens - we were lucky enough to be able to breakfast alfresco & have drinks in eve sunshine. Well-equipped cottage is immaculate. Location is ideal for exploring Dorset coast: Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Worth Matravers, Weymouth, Portland Bill & Chesil beach etc. Smugglers is a great pub & has lovely beach cove. Owners really helpful and welcoming. Stayed August 2016

About the Location

The picturesque country lanes of Osmington are filled with beautiful thatched old stone cottages and farm houses and the network of country walks throughout the village, ensure that you have the best walking routes right on your doorstep.

Use your Osmington cottage as a base and explore the Jurassic coast. There are some fantastic fossil walks, whether organised by a company or adventured solo. The 195 million year old history stamped into the Jurassic Coast is what makes this area so wonderful. Dorset was tropical and in the centre of the giant Pangaea continent back then so any fossils found today from this time, have not been touched by a living thing for 195 million years, which is pretty incredible and the ease at which you will find complete ammonite fossils in this area makes for an extremely rewarding day.
