There is so much to see and do in Dorset all year round, but we really pull out all the stops for the festive season, from Father Christmas flying down a chimney in golden boots, to hundreds of Santa’s running around the County Town and a huge fancy dress knees up on New Year’s in Weymouth. Here is a roundup of some truly unique events that could only happen in Dorset.
Dec 2nd Santa in his golden boots in Wareham. You haven’t really seen anything like it before, come along and see Santa in his golden boots as he joins the village parade to celebrate the festive season.
Dec 3rd Weldmar Santa fun run in Dorchester. Put on your Santa suit and join in the Santa fun run around Dorchester and Poundbury. This two-mile run takes you through Prince Charles’ flagship Dutchy village of Poundbury and Dorset’s county town of Dorchester.
Dec 6th Bridport Christmas cheer. See who lifts the coveted Christmas window trophy this year, whilst enjoying traditional carols, and browsing over 70 stalls of arts and crafts at this lively market town event.
Dec 10th Weldmar Light up a Life in Weymouth at Hope Square. Pause to remember absent loved ones in this special Christmas tree light up, Dream Cottages are very proud and honoured to sponsor this event.
Dec 17th Chase the Christmas pudding race in Weymouth. Join hundreds of jolly Santas as they race across Weymouth Beach chasing a Christmas pudding. It’s all in aid of charity and is an eccentric and energetic way to spend your Sunday morning.
Dec 25th Christmas Day harbour swim Weymouth. Work up that Christmas dinner appetite and join other hardy souls who go for a Christmas dip across the harbour, you will have well and truly earned your Christmas dinner doing it! All in the name of charity, raising money through the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club.
