Dreamy Dorset ice creams you must try this summer!

With forecasters predicting more scorching spells this summer, we’re feeling in need of some ice cream to help beat the heat!
We may be slightly biased, but we think our Dorset local produce is the best around, which is probably why our local ice cream tastes so good too! These ice cream producers not only hand make all their delicious ice cream and sorbets right here in Dorset, they also use locally sourced ingredients. If you’re visiting Dorset this summer, keep cool and indulge in an icy treat – here are some of our favourites:
Rossi’s Ice Cream – Located on Weymouth’s Georgian seafront, this traditional ice cream parlour offers all the mouth-watering treats you could want, from Sundaes, waffles and Knickerbocker Glorys to classic cones, filled with delicious handmade ice cream, made with the family’s own closely guarded recipe.
Baboo Gelato – Hand made in Bridport, Baboo combines the authentic Italian science of gelato making with Dorset homegrown ingredients and the results are simply irresistible! Founder Annie Hanbury, produces her seriously tasty gelato, sorbets and ice lollies straight from the fruit in her own back garden. Fancy a taste? Baboo have Kiosks in both West Bay and Lyme Regis and supply a range of local restaurants and cafes.
Purbeck Ice Cream – Fresh from a farm in the beautiful isle of Purbeck, indulgent Purbeck Ice Cream is made with local milk and double cream and boasts over 40 different flavours. One of the better-known Dorset brands, keep your eyes peeled and you’ll see this ice cream stocked in various shops, kiosks and cafes around the county, as well as in select places nationwide.
