“The house is in a great location for exploring West Bay and the surrounding area.”
It was spotlessly clean which given the current circumstances made us feel more confident about staying away from home. Nice quiet road, good off road parking. There were a couple of issues with the plumbing but we reported these to the maintenance team. They didn't spoil our holiday but hopefully the repairs will be done for next season.

Good directions to the property and advice from Sykes re Covid precautions. We would definitely stay here again.- Mrs Williams, October 2020

“Seagulls was pleasantly surprising as it was better in reality than it looked in the photo's.”
Very convenient for walking to the coast and unusually for some holiday lets in and near West Bay had parking for several cars, which reduces stress, especially if you had elderly relatives with you as I did. The house was very clean, cosy, and comfortable and even though we were lucky to have several sunny days, the rainy ones were happily spent sitting in the conservatory. We did have unnatural rain thanks to Storm Alex and this was when we noticed that one of the larger conservatory windows didn't shut and the guttering was blocked which mean't the rainwater routed through the window seals and started soaking the conservatory floor. I had to open a smaller window to act as a means of directing the water away to the ground. Also, the hot water could have been a little hotter, and the central heating seemed to be set on very random timings which mean't the house was cold first thing in the morning and there was no heating in the evening. It's definitely that time of year when you need it set for a few hours in the morning and also during the evening. However these are what I would consider to be minor gripes, and easily resolved, and did not detract or spoil the lovely time we had in this house and its excellent facilities and location. I was very pleased with Sykes service and will certainly hope to book and stay here again in future.- Ms Shuttleworth, September 2020
“The property is in a quiet location but is an easy walk to West Bay and the facilities of a small seaside town.”
Bridport is a short drive away for anyone needing a larger town. There were minor irritations with the property such as a dripping tap in the kitchen and a lamp not working in the main bedroom. Otherwise an enjoyable stay although we left early because we are in vulnerable groups with respect to Covid19 and felt safer in our own space and the weather deteriorating.- Mr Piper, September 2020
“A warm, clean property, & well equipped kitchen.”
Very quiet location, yet a 10 minute flat easy walk to the beach and harbour. Our children really appreciated the many beach toys for us to borrow (thank you). Close to many large supermarkets. And within easy reach to other seaside locations by car. I would definately book seagulls again.- Mrs Hooper, August 2020
“I was disappointed to find that despite not being able to check in until 5pm, due to extra cleaning measures, the property was not clean.”
There was no smell of cleaning products at all, especially in the bathroom and toilets. The door handles and light switches were so grubby I cleaned them all myself with anti bacterial wipes. The mugs were so stained I actually bleached them. However the bedding and towels were immaculate. It is a shame there is no tumble dryer, it was not listed as such but would have been nice as there is room for one. Also not pleased I had to buy dishwasher salt and rinse aid. this should be topped up for guests. That all said the property itself was lovely, great location, short walk into west bay and the beach. We would return, hopefully cleaner next time.- Mrs Evans, August 2020
“House appears a bit tired, external doors stick and not easy to lock, shower needs updating,wi-fi weak t.”
V.only recieves bbc.a bit more attention to detail would make this home excellent as the location is very good.- Mr Dixon, July 2020
“On arrival the property had not been cleaned well, upstairs needed hoovering, there was visible human hair in the main bedroom and thick dust on the dressing table.”
In the hallway was a China umbrella stand which was cracked in half. The kitchen sink was dirty. The location of the house is excellent and west bay is a fantastic holiday destination.- Mrs Hunter, September 2019
“Brilliant location and was great for us, 4 adults and 1 child aged 3.”
Ample room for 2 cars in a quiet cul-de-sac and a traffic free walk to a super playground and then a few minutes further on to the beach etc. Many thanks for our lovely stay.- Mr Miller, September 2019
“We have booked with Sykes a few times and have never been disappointed but we were this time,we walked into the lounge and were met by a badly stained carpet,a conservatory that needed a good sweeping, there were leaves and lots of bits behind the chairs so they were never moved to clean behind, the toilet bowl in the bathroom upstairs was dark brown from the waterline down,my grandson wouldn’t go in that one,I went straight out and bought toilet cleaner,I used it and within an hour the stains had gone, how your cleaner didn’t see this I’ll never know,it had taken months to get like this,we had a problem with the shower head,it came off and the thread had gone so we couldn’t put it back on,we rang about it and was only without a shower for 24hrs before a new one was fitted, and as he came bank holiday Monday tea time we were pleased with the punctuality,as with six of us needing the shower it wasn’t really convenient.”- Farr, August 2019

“Very homely & comfortable property.”
The minute I walked through the door and could smell bleach I realised this would be a clean property. The property is in a lovely quiet location and an easy stroll down to the beautiful harbour for a nice breakfast or evening meal. I would give this a definite 10 out of 10 and we have already booked to come back next year. Stayed October 2015- Mrs Mytton, Oct 2015

“This property was absolutely fantastic!”
It was spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and a real home from home. There were six adults and one baby, and it didn't feel crowded at all. Very convenient for walking to West Bay village and all this, combined with wonderful weather, meant we had a brilliant few days there. “We had a fantastic time whilst staying in seagulls.”
The house felt like a home and not a holiday let. Lovely location. Nice and quiet (except for the occasional seagull). Friendly neighbours. 5 -10 minute stroll to the harbour. Would recommend this house/home again and again- Mrs Griggs, Jul 2014
