    “Accurate description and a pleasant stay.”

    Clean and tidy but minimal equipment with no frills. Stairs are dangerous with narrow treads and difficult to negotiate not suitable for the elderly.

The property

Set in the heart of the village of Corfe Castle, believed to be the inspiration for Kirrin Castle in Enid Blyton's famous Five Series, Tavern Cottage is just a short stroll from Corfe Castle ruins. With its own private view of the castle from the bottom of the garden, the property is comfortable accommodation for couples or a family.

It offers stunning scenery for photographs – you can take a picture of the castle from your garden! A well-equipped cottage with everything you need in the kitchen and a dining table to enjoy a cosy meal all together.

Although the property fronts the main Wareham to Swanage road, secondary double glazing has been installed to minimise any road noise, so you don’t need to worry about good night’s sleep. The village of Corfe Castle offers special gift and craft shops, several up-market eating houses and coffee shops with cream teas.

Much of the area is in the ownership of the Natural Trust and is designated as an area of outstanding beauty. The village houses are made from local grey Purbeck limestone and comprises two main streets, East Street and West Street meeting in a Square.

Corfe Castle ruins have rich history and a visit to the site is a must.

There are quite a few attractions and activities for kids prepared by National Trust that takes care of the castle.

Tavern Way is ideally located for exploring many of Dorset's other famous features such as Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, and Old Harry's Rock at Studland, also famous for its glorious sandy National Trust beach there are plenty of exciting adventures for you to have during your stay.

The area of Purbeck has a special beauty with sweeping headlands, steeply ridged hills, heathland areas and coastline.

Studland which is close by has a famous sandy beach which is approached via unspoilt scenery.

You may take your car by the Studland chain ferry to Poole which is a real thrill for children.

For those looking for a more exciting walking experience, there are quite a few villages you can visit such as Worth Matravers, Kingston, Langdon Matravers.

Once you reach them, a couple of miles further and you will be right on the South West Coast path with stunning Chapman’s Pool, Kimmeridge bay, Dancing ledge, St Aldhelm’s chapel.

All of them can be easily accessed within a short drive with a car. Tavern Way is a rural retreat perfect for exploring Purbecks and countryside surrounding Corfe Castle.
