“The drains are a bit horrible.”

The second shower room door had to be kept closed as there was a smell wafting into the hallway when there was a windy day. Thankfully I didnt have to use that shower room. I saw previous reviews about it on tripadvisor so know the owner already is aware and presumably something is happening about it. ...

The second shower room door had to be kept closed as there was a smell wafting into the hallway when there was a windy day. Thankfully I didnt have to use that shower room. I saw previous reviews about it on tripadvisor so know the owner already is aware and presumably something is happening about it. However, this is a beautiful flat, pristine, clean and tidy. Very homely with some lovely touches that made me feel settled as soon as I stepped through the door. Much bigger than it seems from the photos, very bright and I spent many a happy evening sitting with the window open watching the view from the balcony. Lovely and quiet, yet with a hotel restaurant on the doorstep, a lovely pub that does meals, and a bus service to get you into Weymouth. Very well equiped with everything I needed and wanted for my stay, parking space, instructions for tech kindly left where I could find them. Excellent. I made some lovely friends that I hope to stay in touch with, and I will certainly be back again.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am very sorry about the drain issue, which was due to a plumbing problem in a neighbouring apartment. I am very pleased that you felt at home straight away and that you enjoyed the beautiful view from the balcony down to Portland Bill. I look forward to welcoming you again soon. Property Owner

The property

Positioned on the rugged and beautiful Isle of Portland, lies Portland View, a modern and contemporary first-floor apartment boasting captivating views of Portland Bill and out across the bay.

Creating the perfect base for a coastal getaway with family or friends, this property is hidden away within a building that was constructed around 1949 which, at this time, played host to the British Admiralty who carried out extensive research here.

A bright and airy open plan living space will welcome your arrival, boasting a plush sofa in front of a Smart TV, perfect for enjoying a family night in.

The stylish kitchen boasts glossy white units amongst a range of integrated appliances, including an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, ensuring you have everything required for a self-catered break.

Dust off those cooking books and prepare a hearty family feast, while the rest of the group prepare the dining table, setting out the crockery and opening a well-deserved bottle of wine.

As the evening comes to a close, catch your rest in either of the bedrooms, both offering a super-king-size bed, and finished with crisp white bed linen and plenty of storage for your personal items.

Begin the morning with a refreshing shower before stepping out onto the balcony, taking in those glorious sea vistas whilst you contemplate where to visit for the day.

Portland Bill and the Isle of Portland is a truly unique location with much to offer, including beautiful coastal walks, hidden beaches, pirate history, museums and much more!

The distinctive red and white striped lighthouse can be found at the very top of the island and stands majestically at 41 metres high, with its flashing lights guiding passing vessels through the hazardous waters around Portland Bill as well as acting as a waymark for ships navigating the English Channel.

The views from here are simply spectacular and the rocky clifftops make for a wonderful scenic stroll.

Weymouth with its attractive Georgian seafront and golden soft sands is just under 9 miles away and has many traditional seaside attractions, with a wealth of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants all within an easy walk around the town centre, harbour and promenade.

Portland View is an ideal base to come and enjoy all that Portland and the Dorset Jurassic coastline has to offer, at any time of the year.

About the location

Easton 3 miles; Fortuneswell 4 miles; Weymouth 9 miles.

Portland Bill is a narrow promontory on the end of the rugged Isle of Portland peninsula which is joined to the mainland via Chesil Beach, a pebble spit, which stretches 18 miles towards West Bay. Situated on Dorset's spectacular Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site, Portland Bill is home to three lighthouses, the most recent built in 1906 being the 35 meter tall, white and red striped Portland Bill Lighthouse. Portland Bill is home to a pub and a restaurant/café as well as the Portland Bird Observatory. Formerly a quarrying area, the stunning coastal scenery and footpaths provide excellent walking and the surrounding countryside is well known as a birdwatcher’s paradise! The local communities of Fortuneswell and Easton boast a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. With great climbing opportunities and an array of watersports activities on offer locally, plus the wonderful sandy beaches and the pretty harbour at Weymouth just 9 miles away, this super holiday destination is not to be missed!

Please note: There is a small flight of concrete steps leading up to the communal entrance and then two internal flights of stairs up to the apartment.
