  • “Yes, as I told Chris in the office, the windows were filthy externally and the decked area was slug city at night.”

Ugh - most unpleasant. All the facilities were as advertised and we all found the beds comfortable. However, the entire property was very tired and tatty. It truly needs a through clean. The handrails on the stairs are sticky and probably full of germs. I was the only one that had need to use them due to disability, and I washed my hands at which ever level I arrived at. ...

The info book was as much use as nothing. The cover said it was to show us where things were around the house. No info on this at all, and it was 2 days before we found the freezer! Also the only operating instructions were about a coffee/tea carafe. Even the sleeves in this book felt sticky. There were supposed to be pages for visitors to leave comments on their stay, but these were non existent. The menus on local eateries was one takeaway, but we eventually found more in the dresser. These should be accessible, especially on the first night, as having travelled, not allowed entry until 4pm due to cleaners sickness, then unpacked, none of us felt like showering to go out as we were all tired, especially the children. We did enjoy our time in Weymouth, and the property is in a good location. However, it does leave a lot to be desired. If my husband and I and our son and daughter in law had homes as dirty as this, we would be ashamed to invite people in.

The property

Fuchsia's Edge is a spacious three storey Victorian terraced holiday house conveniently situated for all the lovely areas which Weymouth has to offer.

Although a more basic 3 star standard property, it offers very good value for money holiday accommodation on a per person basis near to the harbour and beach.

The property has five bedrooms along with a large sitting room with dining area and a large kitchen.

It also benefits from a small second sitting room.

A few minutes walk from the ambience of Hope Square, with a choice of appetising restaurants, coffee houses, and pubs.

Weymouth's golden sands with its attractive Georgian sea front and sweeping bay is within easy walking distance.

A stroll around the nearby Nothe Gardens in the evening, calling in at the Nothe Tavern for your own particular tipple makes a perfect ending to a lovely day.

You could also catch the train from Weymouth station and spend time exploring the nearby market town of Dorchester with numerous restaurants and bars.

Fuchsia's Edge is an ideal venue for large family gatherings, long weekends or short breaks close to Weymouth attractions.

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!

Note: Stepped timber decking to rear off road parking. Note. Guests need to provide their own cot linen. Note. The fireplace is for ornamental display only.
