“Jasmine Cottage felt like a big hug!”

We all felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. With beautiful walks on the doorstep, it was the perfect place to spend Christmas in an idyllic, cosy but spacious cottage.

The property

A quintessentially beautiful, an old detached original Jasmine cottage is in the pretty Dorset village of Osmington. It has a wonderful mix of cottage features such as low beamed ceilings, sloping floors and a large inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove.

These features are coupled with contemporary and stylish design within the cottage, which marry the best of both styles into a property that suits your needs. It has been fully renovated, now boasting a modern kitchen and very well-presented bathrooms.

Both staircases from the living area are steep and narrow, but they give that cosy feeling as you went back in time and lived a few hundred years ago in a cottage deep in the countryside.

Ground floor twin single bedroom is accessed via two steps up then one step down.

One of the staircases to the first-floor lead to double bedroom and twin single bedroom.

Another staircase will lead you to the master double bedroom boasting with en-suite shower room. After a day’s walk in the countryside, put your boots to dry out in the boot room on the ground floor.

Enjoy your dinner and have a lazy evening by the fire, read a book and head to your bedroom for a good night’s sleep. The property benefits from a good sized, enclosed cottage garden and off-road parking for three cars, so don’t worry if your party is from different parts of the world, there’s plenty of space for everyone’s vehicle.

The cottage welcomes two well-behaved dogs. Osmington has pretty lanes leading to open countryside, perfect for country village walks.

Alternatively walk to the coastal hamlet of Osmington Mills to explore the pretty bay and enjoy a local ale in The Smugglers Inn.

Dorset's Jurassic coast is also only about a mile away; here you can pick up the South West Coast path, which will take you to the geological wonders of Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

The major resort town of Weymouth with its award-winning long sandy beach, family activities and gourmet harbour side restaurants are also only around three miles away to the opposite side. Get your friends or family for a holiday gathering or celebration and enjoy a holiday in Dorset’s countryside surrounded by rolling hills and a short drive away from the coast.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.

About the location

OSMINGTON

Osmington village, sits on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset, just 6 miles from Weymouth with it’s infamous beach and historic harbour and just 11 miles from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Home to the famous Chalk hillside carving of George III on horseback, cut into the hillside to commemorate the Royal visits to Weymouth, this landmark can be seen from miles away. It is also the place that John Constable spent his honeymoon in 1816 and where he completed his painting of Weymouth Bay that now hangs in the National Gallery. The South West Coastal path runs through Osmington Mills, a tiny hamlet on the edge of Osmington. Here many walkers start their coast path walks at the Smugglers inn, where reputedly there are historic connections to smuggling. Be sure to visit to find out all the stories. A short drive will see you reach a local convenience store at Preston. Weymouth offers a larger variety of shopping, eating and entertainment choices.

Note: max 8 people.
Note: please remember to bring your own towels, tea towels and any table cloths required as these are not normally provided.
Note: cottage requires a £150 security deposit when booking.
Note: ground floor twin single bedroom is accessed via two steps up then one step down.
Note: There are two staircases from the living area featuring original cottage stairs to the first floor. Staircase is very steep, narrow and winding.
